I saw it for the second time in two weeks yesterday, and I whispered to my friend "RIP Crutchie" right before he got arrested. He gave me a weird look, and one minute later, he gave me this terrified look XD

BottomsUp1716 I think it's a shame they didn't have it in the Broadway show, but I'm glad they added it. I think it adds a lot to the narrative as, on Broadway, after the end of act one you didn't see Crutchie again until the end of act two, he just got mentioned. But now we get to see what happens to him instead of just hearing about it and I think that's a great addition :)

Just when you thought Newsies couldn't possibly have another heartwrenching line they give you a whole extra song of them...

The way his voice softens on "July" and "every day" gives me chills it's so beautiful :')

The line "You said on the roof top that a family looks out for each other, so you tell all fellas for me to protect one another" I always get the chills and start crying...

"On the rooftop you said that a family looks out for eachother... So you tell all the fellas for me, to protect one another" I've never felt so sad from a single phrase in a song. This is without a doubt one of the best songs in the entire show.

His expressions make my heart hurt. He plays Crutchie so, so well.

I can't believe I'm actually going to see him live on Saturday. "Dreams come true . . . Yeah, they do . . . in Santa Fe . . ." :)

Crutchie is just so pure! He gets arrested while watching Jack run off without him, but he doesn't blame Jack, tells him to look after the rest of the Newsies for him, and tries to find a positive side to all the horrible things happening to him. He just has the biggest heart, and yes, I am crying!

I'm so glad they added this into the Live Recording. I loved hearing this version, and it was so satisfying to hear Andrew Keenan-Bolger (the original Crutchie) sing it in the movie theater because it was a song the original Crutchie deserved to have in the musical. It adds more to the story and shows how just awful the Refuge was to those children. This is not a comparison of the two singers, because both played Crutchie in beautifully unique ways and enjoyed hearing both depictions. I'm I just happy this song went into the mainstream Newsies scripts.

Tbh no one gets me either because Newsies helps my depression. I've watched the movie every day for the past five months as well as listen to the soundtracks 24/7 and everyone calls me crazy but it's better than panic attacks and throwing up

Me too! It's so upbeat and fun and I can't help singing along. It really distracts me from all the bad feelings. I have had anxiety about feeling nauseous and I just turn this on. I'm trying to memorize all the words :) After seeing the show on tour, I'm addicted to it. My friends are like, "What's so good about Newsies?" I'm just like, "Uh. . . EX-CUSE ME?"

I was watching Newsies the other night with my little brother. I spent the whole movie with a Kleenex in my hand, because well... My brother doesn’t cry that much, but just after Letter from the Refuge he turned his face to me and he was full of tears! I passed him the tissue and he said “Crutchie is the best person ever” and kept on crying . It was so heart warming

GAH CRUTCHIE IS MY FAVOURITE NEWSIE! He is so happy all the time and so so so loyal to Jack.

I heard him sing it live, and I started to cry, and I freaked out even more, because at the end of the show, they all came out by the stage door, and I got a picture with him! UGH I LOVE THEM ALL!!

Crutchie is a lovable character. My 15 year old cousin played this role in a production of “Newsies”. This song really got me tearing up

When I saw him live and met him during their run in San Francisco, I loved this song so much. I used to love Crutchie but he wasn't my favorite until Zachary Sayle (bae) did his rendition of Crutchie, and sang Letter From The Refuge and I CRIED. He is extraordinarily talented and has a beautiful voice. :)

This song is such a good song. It really expresses how theses kids much have felt. And Zachary never fails to make me cry.

Please don't tell me this is the last Disney Video from Newsies! These are the best!

These were actually filmed in San Francisco.

My favorite part is the end because it's like as he'd be writing the letter, he's scribbling/crossing out "your friend" and "your best friend" to write the correct word

I had chills throughout the whole the video. Can't believe I'm gonna get to to see this kid live tomorrow!

The best part of the end is because it's called "Letter From the Refuge" it's like Crutchie is writing a letter to Jack. During the last part of the song, it's like Crutchie is scribbling out the words. "The end. Your friend (scribble) your best friend (scribble) your brother, Crutchie"

"These here guards - they is 'ruude'"... "... cuz so far they ain't brought us no food!" Lovely acting! "Sleeping right out in the open in your penthouse in the sky" Lovely singing! Really fine, pure tone. Your technique really shows. Excellent dynamics as well. You're smart enough to just tell the story and not feel the need to over sing it. Zachary, having seen the show several times, you melt hearts every single night. The loud ovations you receive nightly are more than well deserved. Congratulations & continued best! Not many 18 year olds get to be the first to sing a new Disney (Menken/Feldman no less!) song in a National tour - AFTER the show has already closed in New York! You do the show's composers/producers proud in their obvious faith in you. But more importantly, I am incredibly excited for the career you have ahead of you, and the absolutely charming, intelligent, witty and articulate artist and person you are becoming right before our eyes. Bravo, young man. Bravo & kudos.

I saw him in Pittsburgh and he was amazing! I think he is my favorite Crutchie. This song was so beautiful as well. Several of the people around me got teary-eyed.

Zach... can't believe I hadn't see this video until now. I am SO PROUD of you. I loved it when I saw you do it in performance... I love it even more now that I can appreciate how skillfully you're singing - just piano and voice. You are someone I point to with pride, to my other voice students, and I tell them how hard you worked and how closely you listened. How far you traveled, on your own at 15, to come to NYC to study with me and how you wanted it more than anyone I'd ever met. And you got what you so richly deserve. May you always, my friend. Saw the show live in Atlanta in January. This was/is one of my very favorites. I love him so much.

I watched the Newsies movie when I was 9, and I immediately fell in love with every aspect of it, the choreography, the music, the characters..... especially Crutchie. About 4 years later, having seen the touring cast and Zachary Sayle (my sister being lucky enough to have interviewed him) twice, I am still undoubtedly in love with this musical and it has affected me in ways can't describe. They encouraged me to start dancing, and through dance I have worked through hard times and found something to keep me going, I guess you could say this musical gave me something to believe in ;)

Way to go, Zachary! Goosebumps and chills. Menken is a genius. You are brilliant!

I saw this last week and when I heard this song I could not help but cry. I have been listening to this song multiple times every day. I love this song and wish it was on the CD I bought. I saw this show April 16, 2015 in Los Angeles and wasn't expecting this song. It just kicked me in the teeth it was performed so well and Mr. Sayle sounded so good! One can't help but to have a smile the whole show and leave with tears. I got to meet the cast afterwards. Just amazing talent. God bless them.
