Wanna know what was happening some 20+ years ago, in February through March 1997 to be precise?
Actually some things never change, still ongoing as are some leaders who are still in power... but some others are all dead.

Believe it or not, it often brought me to tears because it reminded me of my teenage time where all my family members were complete.
Back in the 90's we would all gather infront of the small radio receiver to listen to bbc world new bulletin around the world 🌎 then focus on Africa another bbc news segment that focuses on African continent.....2022 nearly 30 years after this sounds fresh .....
Now I am learning English since 1 year ago using BBC besides of others channels. From all news channels, I like so much BBC London. I think that journalists have a good accent for whom be/want learning English.
Just how I remembered it, these days presenters are hip and trendy with fancy theme tunes. Well this is November 2019.

Wow! Michael McLean! Apart from reading the BBC WS news, he did voiceover/announcing work for BBC television, among others. Whatever happened to him?

Ah, this is when the BBC World Service was at it's best...too bad that it's degraded now. And, if I remember rightly it has been blocked for radio here in the US and subsequently, naturally, in Hawai'i. Again, too bad.
This was BBC before the reliance on satellites and FM relays. There, news bulletins were reduced from 9 minutes to only 5!

Actually they were already using satellite in the 80's.

The dreadful change happened when World Service news got taken over by BBC domestic news. Not to mention the fact that News was taken over by current affairs so that the bulletin became part of a current affairs programme rather than becoming before it

@@drdeej5340 but there was a move to shut down shortwave transmissions to save money - in fact to fund overseas television services. But the bulletin was reduced to a five minute illustrated one in order that it could be used, or sold too, stations on FM around the world.
