I grew up there! I left 50 years ago. I've visited but nothing will ever be as magical as childhood in Newport, where we ran barefoot around the fun zone, ate frozen banana 🍌 played in the arcade! Swam in the bay, bodysurfed in the waves. Fished from the pier. Went illegal lobstering on the jetty. 😅 I left at 24, it sure was a fun childhood!

"The Wedge". Surprised it's still there considering I swallowed most of it.. Grew up there from 1957. Amazing how it looks pretty much the same. We were on the beach more time than anywhere else. I hope we get to do it over again like it was. Dude.

I live here and it’s wild to think my family owns 2 of the biggest and oldest land marks in the city

I spent most of my 20s and half my 30s living there and enjoying life! I worked in Irvine. On Friday I'd park my car and not touch it again until Monday morning, spent my whole weekend on my bike, surfing, being wild at the local bars, and chasing pretty girls! hahaa. I miss it. Too bad normal people can't afford to live there anymore. When I was there if you had a decent white-collar office job you could have a good life in newport, today you gotta' be a millionaire to scrape by. I live 100% abroad these days, exploring Spain and south america, more or less searching for my next Newport Beach! 🙂

Hey Chip! Love these videos. Not many creators loop in the historical context of the city, which I do appreciate. I'd love for you to dive a little deeper on any notable areas (e.g. when mentioning a bar scene, maybe call out a few bars and restaurants that you like). I watch these videos not only to learn more about the city, but what key stores/restaurants/shops to visit while I'm there (in addition to learning more about the areas within a city).

My family buys a beach house every summer and we go tomorrow! Thanks for the tips

Hey thanks for making this video! I lived there for the first 14 years of my life, but moved to Florida. I thought it would be fine, but it just isnt't. I'm almost 16 now and I'm hoping that in two years I can move back to newport. I think about this place every day now

I’ve never been to California but this Brit intends to go check it out. Used to live in WV for years, love the states and the American people. Wow this look very different to WV …..lol Reason why I landed on ya video is because I was just checking out David Coverdales wife sadly passed there in May of 2021. David Coverdale is lead singer with Rock band Whitesnake, they were married back in 89 Lookes like a gorgeous place to live, hey maybe I’ll meet a nice mature American lady there, have a great day 👍

That's a silly question. Of course it would be - California is almost always warm, especially by the coast of course. Also, most hotels have heated pools, especially high end hotels.

I’m guessing that the cops keep a close eye on BS there, I landed on this video because a Rock stars wife passed there last year …..just wanted to check it out …..I’ve never been to Cali even after living in the states for years. But if she was living there I’m guessing it’s exclusive married to Rock stars and baseball players.

It’s getting bad down here. Down by balboa island there’s homeless ppl living in there cars and rvs. There’s trash, needles and shit like everywhere because the ppl in Newport Beach treat the help like dogs so most have to live outside
