Newman Lecture: Dr. Peter Kreeft - "Heaven, Its Existence and Nature"

Join us for the 3rd webinar in our public Newman Lecture Series.
Quo vadis? Where are you going? That's the most important question for a traveler. And we the living are all travelers. Death calls us all and moves us on. Stability is illusion. So those who cannot abide illusion must raise the question: Quo vadis?
Dr. Peter Kreeft, a professor of philosophy at Boston College, will dive into the question of what comes after death, and the possible answers lead to two totally different visions of life. Is death a door or a hole?

What a great lecture - it’s packed with so much to think about and assimilate that I will need to listen to it more than once. It fills me with hope.

I struggle so much with my faith. I left before 2000, and have had a strong desire to return in the last 5 months and have been attending Mass regularly. I’m a philosopher and psychotherapist by training, and find Kreeft’s arguments for the existence of heaven - by appeal to authority and other ways of fallacious thinking - woefully inadequate. I’m about to read Feser’s book (Five Arguments for the Existence of God) and hope it is more coherent.

What an inspiring man. Thank you Dr. Kreeft 🙏 I believe I have experienced hell... And there was no fire. As Peter said, fire is beautiful. It is also warm and gives light. Those are good, and hell has no good. Hell is pure black... Dark, cold, empty, desperate, and in spite of others being there, you are alone. Worst of all, hope is nowhere to be found.

How do we know that the books of the New Testament are the only authentic books of the Bible? What about the authenticity of the Gnostic gospels of Mary Of Magdala or of Peter?

They were derided as heresy and forgeries by the early church. The same cannot be said for the Acts of Peter etc, they were quoted by earlier texts and mentioned before the first known copy was found (151, but is thought to be a 3rd century text)
