If you seal the deck with a good deck sealer, the water will repell and not soak in the wood to "wick" inside. I would seal inside and and out.

Yes, that was what I was thinking; Deck sealer should address the water migration. Deck stairs look good though.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Thompsons water seal should do it.

I used it on a wooden bench swing and the water just rolls off the bench.

Seal the deck inside and out. There’s a vapor barrier/ insulation that resembles bubble wrap. It’s foil on one side and that’s the side that goes down. The interior bin walls are going to have to be spray foamed to keep the metal walls from sweating and running down and causing mold. After interior framing is done you can then use insulation over the spray foam. I would suggest unfazed batting and an interior plastic vapor barrier. It’s not going to be something that you can cut corners on! Bite the bullet and do it right the first time. To cool the inside while you are working on it, open the top door and then open the bottom door. The rising heat will create a natural chimney effect drawing in cooler outside air.
Once you have sealed the outside of the bin, use some Thompsons Water Sealer on the deck to decrease the water absorption. 😊
Love how you've bonded and worked so much with the new girls. Seeing Pickles come to you was precious 💓
Shoulda put a nice cement slab for the bottom of the steps to rest on. Framing out a form for a nice 3 inch slab would have provided strength for the steps and a nice bottom step.
Yes, SEAL THE DECK! That will repel and work.❤
Thank you for sharing, till next time God Bless.
Congratulations on your marriage, God Bless and continued success.
Progress!! Cattle know they are at home. Have to put some water seal on that deck wood. Good stuff in this video.
The steps will add so much!😊❤❤
We sealed our deck to make it repel water. Love the front steps. It’s going to look great! Love sweet Pickles now that she love you both❤
Nice job newlyweds 🤙
❤QUE BIEN VAN HA QUEDAR LAS ESCALERAS SIEMPRE QUE BUEN TRABAJO❤ LOS FELICITOS❤
The steps finish the look for the front, nice job!! 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
That is looking so good. The cows are so sweet. :)Love how the Gouts just hang were ever.
Have you considered putting a good deck sealer on the outside deck? You should let the new deck cure out before adding sealer though.
Everything is coming along...... Thanks for the animal show also! Congratulations you newly weds! Have fun in life. Don't forget to smell the roses along the way on your journey together........
Loving the teamwork. Looks stout. Like your process.
Maybe if you varnish the deck so the boards don’t soak in the rain so much…..I think the steps are amazing…what a place to come out in the morning and have your coffee and watch the animals…❤
love the steps, nice and wide and not a steep incline. Great job!
You’ll need to think about a solid surface as you step off the steps, so that you don’t step into the mud, and can help support the center of the steps. It looks so good!
Looks awesome❤👍
Absolutely love love love the grand staircase. I can see those french doors already!❤❤❤❤
after you build the subfloor, cut vents in the silo for cross ventilation so that the wood underneath can dry out.
I always thought the silo should have been place on thick cement slab bolted down firm. That deck will have weakness as rain n snow is on it. Can you drop the silo thru that wooden deck to cement blocks underneath? Hope you guys stay young… cause steps are a pain when older, or have an accident. Or sick. And please put rails on each side. A ton of work & money is going into this silo project, so I pray it’s a good thing to come. Remember, North OK gets snow n ice… rain and tornadoes . Y’all have a lot to learn… as children are born, maneuvering them, groceries, furniture, appliances, etc up those steps into the silo will take its toll. Good luck!

What kind of flooring are putting over that tar sealer.
Jason, I've been thinking about how to stop water coming inside the grain bin. The only way you can completely stop it honey is by cutting each board off and putting a non-porous material in between the boards so water wont seep in. It will be a lot of work because you'll have to go under the deck then and put in bracing to support where each board ends & starts, and not letting them touch or moisture will seep inside and rot the deck. I'm so sorry about having to be the one to give you the bad news!!! I love the stairs! It's going to be beautiful. X's &
Looks great keep up the great work
Hi Jason and Danielle. Those stairs are going to look nice. I love that even little Pickles comes to you when you call her❤. Danielle, enjoy your time back at the hospital. Love you both💕💕
Congratulations to you and Danielle . May God bless your union.
The stairs are going to be NICE!!❤❤❤
Awesome progress . Flag stone walkway to steps would be beautiful. Hard work but the sense of accomplishment keeps you pumped
Looks nice!!😊
You guys do such a great job! Congratulations again!❤
That grain bin is looking really good
You should get an icing bag to fill in cracks. They have really big ones that you can use with mortar.
Love your relationship with your animals. It’s so evident how well they’re taken care of and how much they love you both! Congratulations on your wedding! ❤️❤️❤️

I’ll never eat a “brownie” again after the tar you used 🤣😂🤣
It is going to look beautiful! Take care, guys!😀
Maybe you guys could drill holes all along the bin for drainage.
It's all coming together for you. Keep your chin up. Your hard work is paying off!
Jason have you ever watched the outsider? He had a video on a new porch that he built on his cabin and sealed it with beeswax, Take a look it might help. Just a suggestion. love you and Danielle. Congratulations on being married!❤❤❤
When you put the vapor barrier on the inside deck floor, use some screen, over some of the cracks, in a few places so the wood can breathe and not rot from moisture being trapped between the deck and finished floor.
Nice of you to build stairs for the goats, lol.
❤Cant wait to see you all finish & moving in your Home👍🤩🌟🌞🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Underneath needs sealing as I could see the ground thru the deck inside. Jared.. you are a dreamer. Fall is coming.
Buy waterproof sealant for your wood does help from the wood soaking up. It was just the water was staying on the top and coat the bottom underneath as well.
Great video! Love the start of the stairs! If you don’t don’t do stairs all the way around, will you cover up the opening where the dogs go under? I think that will look much better. I can’t believe the cows are being so calm with you guys. Get cooled off and relax. Don’t work to do hard at the hospital Danielle.
You need to seal the deck with an all-purpose timber preservative that's also uv.
I see your vision. I like it!😊💜
suggestion to use expanding foam filler between deck boards inside grain bin just to keep cold out and maybe insects option foam interlocking 1/2 thick tile believe they come 2 ft square that lock together like jigsaw puzzle
Absolutely awesome those stairs are going to be amazing French doors would look 👀 absolutely amazing love you all
Love the steps ... everything is going to look great❤Reba❤Pickles,💙 Lambeau
Try the roll roofing that roofers use on flat roofs to seal the inside. Roll it out, torch it and slather some tar on it
Like the stairs to be concept 👍
I have always known to seal our wood to stop the wood from absorbing water!!
All the wayaround😍😍😍😍
Love the staircase and if you seal the deck good you won’t have the water soaking in.
😊hello ,Deck looking really nice 😊😊
Stairs are great 👍
It's looking great folks your going to have a beautifull place. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
So so so glad you put the 2x6 runner in front of the stringers a narrow step can get annoying quickly.
Yay !!!😊❤😊
Thats some good livin right there!
Heyyy ain't nothing wrong with buying pre-made stringers. I think the stairs will be awesome!!!ya'll are in the groove !! Keep on keeping on stay cool 😎 ❤
Love the steps! Can't wait to see your progression into a beautiful home. A Very unique idea! Dreams do come true IF you build it. Great teamwork and spirit...love your show!
It’s called you seal the wood hello
Congratulations again God bless keep doing what you're doing it's looking good showdown👍✌✌🎅
Good evening 🌞
Actually sealing the deck really well will stop that wicking from boards from happening. I would suggest letting it dry a little, sand it down a little and then seal it with a really good deck waterproofing weather seal. Then you won’t have a wicking issue any longer. The other thing I would suggest, is when you do the work on the inside and build up your floor to use a system that leaves a small gap for drying/airflow under the underlayment (they make really good stuff we used on our concrete floor requires that gap due to living in a very wet climate and the concrete can keep a slight wetness so it has a gap to ensure it can keep airflow and dry. That should honestly fix any issues you have.
Moving right along.
They make various kinds of marine grade sealer for decks
Hey y'all, what you could do on the sides of the stairs and in front of the deck is raised garden beds, have a kitchen garden of sorts, Justin Rhodes has a pretty cool example of one, just an idea. Awesome video
I think you need to cut the boards around the bin to keep it from wicking through the boards to the inside. That will most likely require more deck framing. If the moisture gets trapping inside it will rot the floor out quickly.
I would seal the deck inside and out
SEALING THE DECK WOULD HELP AND INSIDE ALSO AT LEASST 2 COATS AND STAIRS ALSO
20:46 Later on you could always put steps on the other 3 sides if you wanted to. Just depends on the layout and future plans. Can’t wait to see it all done! Also, real quick…will the gaps in the boards affect the floor any, or pipes ran under the floor since air can flow up through them? You probably already explained this. lol ❤
You should lay cement under those steps.. If you don’t the moisture will rot your steps..
Joist Hangers for the step stringer at the 6x6 at the Porch would've really helped to stabilize the step stringers. Hind sight. :P Good Lord that's a lot of Step stringers! Stout to the max! LOL
Maybe you can put tarp or roof over pool to provide shade & protect from leaves
Nice video.
Another thing try putting a fan in the door or in the grain bin to circulate the air while you are working in there
Seal the boards inside and out to keep the water out. Also put a vapor barrier on the inside of the bin.
Looks good??👍👍👍
You can always notch around that bottom post of the stairs.
Jason you could seal the boards to keep the moisture out of them and make them easy to clean…looking good guys.
The house is tubular, very similar to rice tanks in Vietnam. Interesting home ideas. I love it
There are Deck board sealers. Thompson Water seal for Decks Is Good Product.
A rubberized waterproof membrane kinds like what they use in ponds
Perfect size for the stairs it is going to look amazing and practical for use. This is exciting watching your vision come to fruition well done Mr and Mrs Crocker (had to say it). lol 💙💙🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍🤣🤣
Yo...Einstein..you need something called membrane for the bull to stick to surface better.. just saying you can probably not use it and it will be alright.. looking good kids.. 👍 be safe be happy be you 🎉❤
Thompson water seal will do the trick on the deck
So glad yall done just the front for steps. It looks good so far.
If you have a way to mix old oil and old diesel together and use it to cover the deck, it will also stain the wood but truly nothing repels water better then the two , oil & diesel.
What diameter is your grain bin? I’m building one right now 22’ with a 14’ bin on the side and I’ll have a catwalk from one bin to the other
yes buy Thompsons exterior water epellent and the water beads up.. instead of soaking in
❤ Good Evening Danielle and Jason 🌠🌌🤩Nice Steps& Deck👍Very sturdy,& great support 👍👌✌️🤞🙌🇺🇸🙏🎶🌅🌄🌻🎆🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
You should ake concrete base for stairs
Yes just the front steps...it would have been too much if anymore. maybe smaller back steps later in winter.
Move the short posts the the opposite side of the step support. Should be an easy fix. Can't wait to see it all completed.
A quality sealer will solve the wicking issue. Multiple applications will solve this. I had a 16 by 50 deck at a 2nd home on the shore of Lake Erie good sealer and never had wicking issue, freezing rain ,snow , torrential downpours never a problem. Plus the wood last years longer!
I think ya'll should finish the roof on the porch, so you can cut open the grain bin. That way, the roof provides some coverage. It's always great to see the progress ❤
