I’ve never seen Minji so happy performing since debut. She was glowing and absorbing everything.

Straight up facts, it was 5PM in the afternoon and not many famous/well-known artists come during that time so usually it's pretty damn empty at T-Mobile, but somehow New Jeans pulled the same crowd size as Billie Eilish later in the evening. INCREDIBLE!

I also noticed TXT had a large crowd.

This is why I love it when idols get to perform for international audiences and at festivals. No matter the group, they always seem to enjoy and interact on stage much more when they’re abroad or not on an official broadcast. It just adds something extra special.

I was there in that crowd. It was insane. I saw so many people trying to discredit them and let me just say In all the four days I was there , there was not a crowd as big as theirs unless it was a headliner. NEW JEANS WAS A HEADLINER EVEN IF THEY WERENT LISTED AS ONE DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THEM

one thing about newjeans' choreo and performances is that theyll always interact with each other in some way and it's so refreshing, they really are just a group of best friends and you can see their chemistry on stage so well!!

They dont have a leader. The unofficial leader is Minji but thats fan decided

I think for them(NewJeans) its Minji too due to her being the oldest. They tend to follow Minji almost all the time so she is the unofficial leader.

the crowd during super shy was INSANE i wish i was there

The fact that they mentioned that their next album or ep would have more of the RnB elements of Get Up has been keeping me from hating that it’s only a prelude. However, this being their big America debut just shows how sound they are as a unit and individually as well as we got to see a bit more of their individual stage habits and mannerisms. They handled it very very well and they only have room to grow with them still being this new and young. It’s almost dangerously insane how quickly this has all happened for them and it’s all genuine and natural and you can feel it through the performances from the very start. I definitely agree that hearing their speaking tones a bit more has me hoping that we’ll hear a bit more of their ranges in their next piece of work. I apologize this comment is a bit long, but I felt it had to be shared bc these girls are dangerous in the best way possible and their ceo (as horrid as she “allegedly” may be) boi can she make a concept and group identity that STICKS and WORKS(if they get Yoo Youngjin to help with that next bit of work, oh I’m not surviving, trust)

This crowd was awesome. You hit all the points on the head with your commentary. It’s so hard to believe this was their first US show. Coachella next? 😅 A show at night and the entire set with a band will be incredible.

They really are naturals. Owning the stage, interacting with a foreign audience, having fun and stage presence outside of the practiced choreographies... Theyre insane!

I can’t get over the crowd size. I heard it was like 70,000 that came to watch them.

Minji was so charismatic and newjeans again nailed it despite them being 1 years old you will not think they are rookie this is results of their hardworking and what they deserve the crowd 🔥

I had the *exact* same feeling about singing Hurt while walking, or at least at the edge of that little walkway to get closer to the fans. That's a small issue with an otherwise amazing performance from our adopted daughters

i felt it so hard when u said they're ur daughters cos they're mine too!

So the last 2 to speak (Haerin and Hyein) are Korean and only grew up in Korea. They aren’t fluent in English and definitely picking the accent up from the other members. Danielle and Hanni are Australian. Danielle is half Korean and half white. Hanni is Vietnamese. Minji spent time in Canada and that’s where she learned English. The girls also have stated that they have no assigned positions. No leader or main/lead vocal/rap/dance. They also range from 2004 to 2008, so young lol.

I was there!! And it was epic!! The crowd was crazy! It was extremely hot and humid that day and people still stood there 2-3 hrs before for them!

They did so well, I was very impressed. I’ve watched the entire performance 3 times already😭 you should definitely check out TXTs performance as headliners in Lollapalooza.

I've loved all of NewJeans songs and listen to them heavily. But didn't consider myself a fan. after experiencing them live with my own eyes and feeling their energy at Lolla. They got me. I see nothing but limitless potential in their future and can't wait for a full album.

my nieces ate fr ugh i need more kpop groups i love to come to nyc festivals like aespa ate at gov ball; something abt festival air have kpop groups be a lil more unserious/interactive vs their own concerts. THE BAND TOO??? i'm so glad kpop groups are picking up on the fact that a regular backtrack alone ain't it like the them and aespa had amazing arrangements also yeah hanni and dani are aussie, while minji lived in canada for a bit when she was younger, so they're the most fluent. both hyein and haerin have not grown up overseas but they're pretty fluent which im assuming was a big priority for ADOR bc when they released 'attention,' all of the girls released vids on tiktok in english promoting the song. worldwide growth is the goal and seems to be working too, soo deserved for them!

Btw the main dancers are probably Haerin and Hanni, not Minji

You should def watch txt's stage at lolla as well. It was AMAZING. The guys totally killed it to the point they had me almost in tears. Great energy.

Ur so effing right their performance is one of the best I’ve seen from a Kpop GG. They went out there to have fun. The most important thing in a concert. If I had to rate them I would say they brought it more so than a senior group. Bro no cap their first major concert and I couldn’t be more proud of them as I would put them ahead of any GG out there even BP. Their energy and confidence is what separates them bc this could have gone all so wrong. New Jeans just turn Kpop on its head and the bar is raised. They are best in my eyes. C’mon now…. I damn near teared up when they came out with the live band and hype boy band vesion sounded so good. just kicked the show off proper. rock version of cookie was a nice twist.

They didn’t have a leader I would say they all lead in different ways for example hanni and Danielle in international interviews they pretty much lead the interviews minji is has more of the professional leader vibes hyein takes care of the members really well same with haerin who seems shy but is very confident at the same time they all are just like a group of friends also reason hannj keeps standing out is because she is the unofficial main dancer she has the most time dancing so she understand the basic concept of dancing better then the rest she’s just a natural atp

when people speak on newjeans they have to put respect on them period! i’ve never seen a group have such far reach in such a short time. if anyone is saying their fans are exaggerating i’ll ask them why i heard super shy on the radio in the bahamas 🛌

When u said seniors need to take note i was like Yaaass coz its facts! They are ohenominal on stage, its made for them. They vibe so well with each other its not forced at all. Such a great group all round.

These girls are something else! All these hits that people already adored didn't become robotic or lifeless once they got on stage-the live band, the mix of choreo and ad-libed performance was really good and they all had their moments to shine. I feel like NewJeans choreos/songs in general have always felt like they were meant to be performed for an audience and for them to interact and move as a group but this was really impressive. Can't wait to watch their growth as I'm sure they'll get more opportunities to perform inn this kind of setting.

I agree with you about minji- I love her tone so much and I wish they would utilize it more! I think it’s one of those elements that separates them from other groups and it’s just so fresh

I've been watching lollapalooza video for 4 days everday and still getting gusbupms🥲

I live in Chicago and I went to the first couple of Lolla's both before and after it stopped touring. The last one I went to was 2007. I've avoided it because of the crowds and the heat. I went this year after 16 years for New Jeans, it was only about 88F (31C) but there were no clouds and the sun was unrelenting. Their set was at 5pm which before the sunset so it was pretty brutal out there waiting for them. I think I got heat stroke but it was worth it. The thing about Lolla is there are like 10 stages and they stagger play times to create movement to discourage people from camping for spots. Kpop fans are a little crazy and aren't there for anyone else, so they will sit through other bands and the hour long stage breaks to get a relatively close spot. The thing is after every band on every stage, everyone usually leaves, unless you are trying to camp for a spot for an upcoming band. I love nwjns but I see those posts and wonder if people have been to one of these before. Turnout for their set was amazing though, usually turnout like that is for bands closer to the end (after sundown when its not as hot).

I’m not a TXT fan, but decided to watch their lollapoolaza performance. These guys are really good live. The stamina was crazy with little breaks. HYBE groups are top notch performers. I can’t wait till Lessarafim performs at a U.S festival. They’re also top notch.

9:35 you are correct, some of them group in the West, specifically Australia. And yes, that does them give more power to connect to their audiences. It's powerful when you can converge the fanbases across the West and the East, and everything in between, up and down. You're dealing with mega stars literally only one year into their careers.

@@nvvAve they basically are kpop, they just CANT call themselves a kpop group bc their music is in English. They trained and are based in Korea, they mainly promote in korea and kpop shows, they were trained by Simon jakops (a kpop idol himself), not only did they train like a kpop group but they’re also managed like a kpop group which is why their music quality and production overall meets the kpop industry standards unlike most non kpop artists. So how are they jpop ?

I enjoyed your video, Micah. Same like you, blown away by the fact they DELIVERED in the best way possible. While I agree the native Koreans are practicing their English hard and it’s amazing to see, I think their comments on stage is mostly rehearsed and written on the screen. I caught a bit of glimpse and the way they took turn just ‘too’ organised. Regardless, it’s just a beginning and they have so much potential ❤

they don’t have main dancer titles, but if you watch their choreo videos, you can easily tell that haerin and hanni are the best dancers. both are great, just slightly different styles.

I really cant with kpop fans bi7ching about their age. First, it only hyein who debuted in such a young age. While others are literally around the age of other 4th gen kpop groups. But it always newjeans be called minor. As if they all in hyein age. 2nd , so what if minor debuted? Like u ppl tell me what age micheal jackson start performing. Ppl be saying it like a crime and a sin. While the same ppl like saying cute & supporting child actors. 3rd, ill be protesting if nj got sexualized by their team thru their concept. But it is not. Ive been following kpop since 2008 and believe me they got the most age appropriate cooncept, songs, costume , choreo. They always use safety pants longer than the skirt/shorts (with cost being criticized many time bcs of it by fashion critics on youtube, but that is okay for me). In opposite i remember a certain famous minor idol (at that time) during her survival programme performing side by side sexy choreo with costume super short. And everyone was like "she slayyyy -_-". All the members are Korean and grew up in Korea except for Hanni. Hanni is Vietnamese Australian and grew up in Australia but she’s fluent in Korean (and English ofc). Danielle is half Korean and half Australian... I think she grew up mostly in Korea if not all in Korea. Minji Hyein and Haerin are all Korean and grew up in Korea. Minji is very confident in speaking English tho. Hyein too.
