Newcastle Community Centre: Geothermal Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger Installation (NSW, Australia)

CWL Group has achieved another milestone with the successful installation of a vertical ground heat exchanger in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
This was a tough one! Clay from the surface to over 100m below made the drilling extremely slow and arduous, necessitating the use of casing to full-depth. However, CWL Group’s drilling partners Geothermal Industries demonstrated once again why their rigs and operators are second to none. Pushing their equipment (and staff) to their absolute limits and staying back on-site well after most everyone else had called it a day - or week - they were still able to complete the job at a rate far quicker than anyone else in the country… if anyone else could even complete it at all.
On their heels, the team at CWL Group came in and handled the lateral works with the man power, precision, and professionalism that have earned them the reputation of being “the best in geothermal exchange down under”. This work was completed ahead of schedule, and, via the use of a digital layout tool, all pipework has been confidently installed within mere millimetres of accuracy to both CWL Group’s BIM design and resultant as-builts.
This vertical ground heat exchanger will support a cutting-edge geothermal exchange pool heating system, as well as ground-source Daikin VRV forced-air heating and cooling for the community centre, solidifying both the client and CWL Group’s commitment to sustainable energy via efficient heating and cooling solutions.
