Hi Masaru, Sadly you have found one of the bad parts about New Zealand with our high prices for seafood however, since you don't need a license to get seafood it can sometimes just be much cheaper to get it yourself.. We do however have limits to the amount of items you can harvest however which is just to help keep things sustainable. Welcome to New Zealand though the waters are a bit cold but they're beautiful when you're diving

Masaru-san, maybe you should try boiling the crab in the shell before removing the meat! It tends to keep the flavor of the meat better and avoids it being watery! I was really surprised to see you remove the meat first, I have never seen that done before! I really enjoyed this video! I hope you give king crab another chance! ❤

what's really interesting about king crab is that it's evolved from an entirely separate line than crabs, themselves, and is proof nature prefers the body of a crab over other species.

@Tomato Asian That's their point. In NZ I've never even encountered cooked scallops. Raw (very fresh!) scallops are something we are known for. That's an imported crab. Not a crab species you can get locally in NZ. The crabs in NZ are small and not worth eating IMO. Also, food and especially seafood is over priced in NZ compared to other countries. Good luck on your adventures! Catching it yourself is sooo much cheaper and much more rewarding. I look forward to watching your upcoming videos about crayfish, paua and kingfish! All you need is the time and motivation. Enjoy your holiday! :)
