Hi Masaru, Sadly you have found one of the bad parts about New Zealand with our high prices for seafood however, since you don't need a license to get seafood it can sometimes just be much cheaper to get it yourself.. We do however have limits to the amount of items you can harvest however which is just to help keep things sustainable. Welcome to New Zealand though the waters are a bit cold but they're beautiful when you're diving

Nice comment!! I love it when kiwis comment on videos posted by oversees creators. I'm a big fan of Masaru but I felt bad when he hated the kina, and also didn't know we sold crabs that big here!
Masaru-san, maybe you should try boiling the crab in the shell before removing the meat! It tends to keep the flavor of the meat better and avoids it being watery! I was really surprised to see you remove the meat first, I have never seen that done before! I really enjoyed this video! I hope you give king crab another chance! ❤

Wow welcome to NZ! I would suggest a fish that is often overlooked, it's called Mao Mao, grey/blue/red Mao Mao is great when steamed with soy sauce on top.
what's really interesting about king crab is that it's evolved from an entirely separate line than crabs, themselves, and is proof nature prefers the body of a crab over other species.
it's so fascinating how different one fishing rule from one country to other! this is a really interesting vlog indeed!
Kia Ora, Welcome to New Zealand! Been watching you for years Masaru ! You are incredibly artistic with your approach to your work, as you are always putting yourself into some sticky and intimidating crevasses to claim your prize! The translation on all the videos helped us all understand so much better the journey you endured! Thank you so much for diving into NZ, this has been so insightful :D Cheers!

I think you said it takes up to 5 days to put English subs on these videos, so you're probably at the end of your trip if not home already. I hope you had a good time in NZ! You deserve it!
Kia ora Masaru-san!! I hope you enjoy your New Zealand trip 🤗😊😊I wish you to us visit too in Tahiti! Take care and enjoy fishing!
The way he's butchering the crab is incredibly interesting to me. I've never seen someone open a crab this way ☺️
Oh this is when you came here to my country!!! I hope you had a great time!
Looks like you had a nice little holiday. Thanks for sharing. Always something so peaceful and relaxing about watching you prepare then eat the food you catch and most interesting seeing you do it in NZ this time.
Congratulations on your first trip abroad! I cant wait to see more videos from your trip

Kia ora from New Zealand!! Hope you enjoyed your trip here 😊 I actually watched part 3 before 1 and 2 so I saw you already caught 2 of the 3 that you wanted to catch. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Outdoor chef life, is also in new Zealand you should do a video together and your both Japanese sooo, it will be great
Have fun Masaru!! I hope your trip goes well

As a fellow Kiwi, I am so happy
Fascinating that the Japanese eat pretty much anything raw but oysters would have just been crazyyyy 😂

It seemed to me more like he was surprised people in New Zealand were comfortable eating them raw and sold them as such, opposed to the Japanese who are more comfortable with raw seafood. Like "oh, I didn't think they'd eat raw oysters too."

@Tomato Asian That's their point. In NZ I've never even encountered cooked scallops. Raw (very fresh!) scallops are something we are known for. OTOH, other raw seafood is mostly only eaten in cuisines from other countries. And Masuru eats some incredibly dodgy things, making his dubiousness extremely funny here.

Wow im in Auckland, would be good to go out spearfishing with you. Did you know its actually illegal to boil a lobster (crayfish) live in NZ? Sure many people don't follow it, but just interesting.

There are laws here about euthanizing lobsters and crabs ect before you cut them up or kill them thankfully and most local cultures do this to pay respect to the animal as well. It was sad to see it alive getting cut up

Many crabs in Taiwan are steamed! Contains king crab! Of course, you can also cook soup, which tastes very delicious! Such as hot pot!🤣 I have been to Queenstown, New Zealand, and I really like the local scenery, and the salmon on the South Island is super delicious! ! ! It tastes like Wagyu beef!😍

Uuuu New Zealand! I had the best time when I visited NZ with my family. We still talk about it till today. One of the highlights of our trip was to a salmon farm in the Mount Cook area, can’t really remember the name but we had the best salmon we ever tasted there!! I hope I can revisit NZ again in the future ❤

Awesome content. I enjoy your videos!
We also eat raw oysters in the US, though they’re also really tasty when barbecued! Also, I’ve only ever had steamed crab… maybe try that next time to avoid watery meat?

Oh no it's a pity that you got a crab that's about to moult. The meat is little and really watery

Fresh oysters, with a very little bit of shallot vinegar (red wine vinegar with very thinly chopped shallots) is considered as one of the most priced delicacies ! You should definitely give it a try 😉
Raw oysters are delicious!
Really enjoy your show. Keep expanding your menu if that's possible.

I (in USA) have only ever seen crab boiled whole, and then the shell cracked with a tool after cooking. Seeing it prepared shabu-shabu style was interesting!

Welcome to NZ. Sorry about our weather atm, it's trying it's best to be one thing atm
King Crabs are crabs from cold, deep seas. It's common to see them around the Arctic and Antarctica. :D
When it comes to crabs, garlic butter is a much better and more delicious dip than ponzu. Try it next time!
We need to see a Masaru x Ollie Craig collab!!
I think Masaru's wavy hair is cute, ikeman style 😊
That's an imported crab. Not a crab species you can get locally in NZ. The crabs in NZ are small and not worth eating IMO. Also, food and especially seafood is over priced in NZ compared to other countries. Good luck on your adventures! Catching it yourself is sooo much cheaper and much more rewarding. I look forward to watching your upcoming videos about crayfish, paua and kingfish! All you need is the time and motivation. Enjoy your holiday! :)
