Me too, if you are comparing watches where the cost comparison can be 200:1, who wouldn't take the Rolex. These cars, the cost ratio can be closer to 2:1. Makes either one a very good choice

@@randolfo1265 obviously, not watch enthusiasts. Rolex has some of the sh*ttiest case finishing in the business and their movements used to be quite inaccurate. The truth is euro fanboys tend to repeat all the 40 year old crap about American cars. Everyone forgets when the 911s used to kill people with their rear weight bias. Also, corvette was rated #1 in its segment for quality in '22.
The visual specs on the Z06 are awesome! Love it!
Mclarens are in a different league in comparison including the price! I saw the Z06 beat the 812 superfast so though I'm a Mclaren fan and a Brit. The Z06 is superb value for the money extremely fast and only losing by 10ths of seconds, both awesome cars!😀

Artura is MUCH quicker, really no contest on rolls. It’s launch control is severely hampering the ET though! I was at this track day and in person the Artura launched very weak

There is nothing weak about the Artura's launch. It's who is behind the steering wheel. McLaren Supercars typically launch better than the competition.
The turbo’s on the top end every time…still the corvette did amazingly although it’s starting to get into super car pricing…

I sold my rang Rover and bought my new Silverado because General Motors is bankrupt so I wanted to show my support for and American company being there’s only Ford,General Motors, and Tesla left. My Point was that the days are over of the average American owning a corvette. A corvette 10 years ago was 40-60k and then the price grew to 60-80k (not bad) and now in one year the price have almost two and a half times that…now a corvette is the price of a house in some places…. Looks like they were built for KZreadrs and the fairly wealthy because that’s apparently all the orders General Motors can keep up with anyhow, And the price reflects that.

Would love to see you "dyno" both cars same day & weigh both. Betting that Artura has a massive weight/HP difference! Betting the Artura HP is a little under rated🤔. And please do some races with the ZO6 in some better conditions. Looks like several ZO6's are running in the 10.35-10.40 range at 131-134 ranges.

They both ran in the same conditions, and the Z06 got the lunch every time. A $2k ECU tune to the Artura and it walks the vett by 3 bus lengths.

Those Z06's have the Z07 package and are coupes. This is a convertible on summer tires that's why it's not as quick.

@@MrJsevo29 This! The Coupe is exactly 102 pounds lighter than the HTC, and the Z07 coupe is almost 200 pounds lighter than a regular HTC. That alone will net you a few 10ths of a second in the 1/4 mile. Then you factor the tires in the Z07 are much stickier. Also, Z07 packaged cars will be very close, if not faster than the Artura.

The artura was obviously going to win cus of it's hybrid system. The electric motors definitely helps a lot with the acceleration and if it had lots, would've been just marely by a second

artura wins mainly due to turbos. they provide tons of power early in the powerband an na engine simply can`t match
Need to do it with a hardtop gutted Z06.
I can't wait to see when Chevy adds that same electric front motor from the ERay to the Z06, that will be a beast! Or a supercharged ERay would be interesting too!

Artura for me, faster and super luxury interior no plastics. Both are great though.
For the price the dealers are asking for on the Z06 the McLaren makes more since and a better resale 5 years from here. Plus a simple ECU tune on the McLaren puts it out of reach for the Vett entirely, the Artura was just about to open the gap at the end of the race. Vett sounds okay but we have heard that engine note from Ferrari the last 40years, GM is late to the game. And I bet there's not much more power to ring out of that engine without dropping 100k TT kit on it. I hope GM get a clue with the ZR1 and make it TT.

Its a very good reason McLaren don't build N/A cars anymore most of all the big exotics have TT engines now. Lambo is moving to turbos in their next car. Turbos will always trump N/A in real world conditions as the video. And no matter what conditions you put that Z06 in it's never going to out run the Atrura in stock form.

I'm guessing the large gap in top end is largely due to gearing and aerodynamics, although I'm sure the turbo torque and hybrid torque and major weight savings also likely have a large impact. Seeing as the Z06's top end is fairly lacking (not a huge issue on the track, but not ideal for drag racing), I'm hoping the C8 ZR1 will fill that straight-line role with some turbos of its own.

@@mybro727 I'd say gearing and aerodynamics are a pretty big deal even in a quarter mile (although to be fair not as much as in a longer half mile or role race). The C8 Z06 with the aero package is significantly slower than one without all the aero, and the Z06 has an extremely short final drive (5.56) and gearing in general that almost certainly is the reason why it launches so hard and tops out so low. It is true that there are other factors (power to weight, torque, etc) but gearing and aerodynamics are indeed a big factor.

The McLaren is also likely making far more power than quoted as they usually do and has all of the advantages, less weight, better aero, the incredibly fast changing gearbox and most likely far more power. The way it passes the Z06 shows it's huge performance advantage even when Brooks tree's the other driver and it just drives around him. Also at the end of the 1/4, speeds between the two cars are huge which represents a massive performance gap. It would be good to dyno both and also weigh them to help understand why the McLaren has so much more performance. Still with that all said I prefer the Z06 looks and the noise it makes is truly amazing!
Honestly, last comment. That Artura, I'm not aware, is it like a GT? It feels like it has a lazy launch to preserve the drivetrain because of the class of car it is, that's my vibe

It’s the 570S replacement. There may be a GT variant down the road, but this one is the standard performance one.

At 8:45 you end the 1/4 mile. Then proceed to downshift at 6000 bringing the next gear to 8000 rpm's. I think you might have done that for the video and all the nice engine sounds but that was a little aggressive for motor life IMO. You think? On a side note, the Acura NSX will slightly pull on the Vette to a 1/8 mile but the Z06 will trap about 1/10th or so faster at the 1/4. Nice comparison. Love all your work.

If each side of the first 60’ of the track were equally sticky and the tires on both cars provided as much traction as the respective cars need…then the vette pulls a lower 60’ time as a result of greater torque to the tires either as a function of lower effective gearing, or greater net torque, or a combo of both. The likeliest explanation as to why the Arturo trapped about 10 mph higher and a 4/10 sec ET is…. Lighter, or more power, or combo of both. Any potential Aero advantage would be minimal. Shave that 80 lbs of unsprung weight off the vette…and it would have been a closer race
For 100k+ price difference I would get the Z06. But I love my C7 Z06 too much to change.

On Chevy's website they state a curb weight of 3500 lbs for the Z06 coupe in all trims. The convertible is 3599 lbs in all trims. I guess the 3900 lbs is 3599 + Brooke's weight and ego 🤣.

@@electrikoptikwith almost no gas in the tank, another KZreadr weighed his and it was 3,6xx lbs so with a full tank of gas and an average male weighing 170-185. Yeah 3,900 is believable.
Other than the hideous red interior, that Z06 is a beast in a price point that’s hard to beat.
The R ray is the fastest factory Vette ever. Would have been a better race but the Z06 is also pure car porn. Thanks!

That big wing will slow it down too much. Watch for Drag Time's Z06. Think he has the small wing, coupe instead of heavier convt., CCB's, and CF Wheels. Not sure how much quicker but should be interesting.
Weight is everything when that even & man the Vette sound incredible
I wonder if a Z06 drag aero kit will come out, but the downforce it generates, how do they do heads up for laptimes on the same track? Do you have a separate lap times channel? If no, maybe let's start one?

Aero doesn't do anything until 100mph+
It will be interesting to see the breakdown rate of both, as these two manufacturers aren’t really know to be trouble free!
That high DA really seems to be affecting the normally aspirated car more. The Corvette will definitely need cool dense air for optimal performance.

Nah, Arturo is just faster no matter the conditions, but high DA affects forced induction/TT/Blower more than n/a

@@larryc1616a turbo/ blower car will have less impact from high DA as they’re forcing more air into the engine as opposed to N/A at high DA where it’s essentially choking.

@@larryc1616 newer cars are using a torque based tuning more often than older cars. Means that no matter the air, the ecu will change boost levels to make the torque and thereby the horsepower it needs to make at a certain rpm and throttle position.

There's at least a 90 hp difference here. 10 mph is a heck of alot faster no matter the small 300-400 we8fht difference. That trap speed says it all. And a full 1/2 sec time separation is quick too. Definitely a huge power disparity here. The McLarens are like bmw, they tend to underrate their power. I'd say closer to 700 hp and being that it's heavier than the 720s which is closer to 780 hp. The Z0 is likely closer to 640 hp. I heard Z0 engineers saying 625-640 2 months before release, and that lives up with the 125-126 mph trap speed. Most cars with 600-650 hp are running 123 moh to 126 mph in the 1/4.
The fact the vette stayed that close is pretty amazing😎

Considering the ZO6 weighs more, and is tuned from the factory to launch harder like that, I wonder what the impact is gonna be on the longevity of the clutches compared to McLarens, especially with a tune/bolt ons🤔

Sadly, they've already had transmission issues and engine issues with the new C8Z, as well as the regular C8s. My C8 launch control was similar to my McLaren, limited to about 3,200 RPMs. The C8Z is more like Porsches, where you can launch super high, but yeah that will have a tremendous impact on the longevity and reliability of the trans/clutch packs, etc. I would probably dial that down to about 4,000 lol, specially with mods on the C8Z.

My god that Vette sounds ANGRY on the downshifts.
With the 1 HP, 71 ft/lbs, and 600 lbs advantage, the McLaren's victory was all but assured. The gearing gets the Vete the 0-60 win, but nothing else. Now a race course might be different. The Corvette is over-scale. If it was 7/8 of its size, it would be a world-beater in practically everything

Not really a race, somethe ran 10.1 on the street with a 3.2 0-60time and a 4.9 60-130mph, that’s even quicker than the sf90
Would be interesting to see the McLaren vs the z06 with the Z07 Package as there's already been vids of that version doing the 1/4 at 10.5 @ 135mph.

Artura weight is quite impressive considering that thing have to carry electric motor and decent sized battery (not like corvette eray) and z06 gear ratio seems like too far apart, rpm drops too much every single shift.

Z06 didn't stand a f'in chance lmao.1 car length? More like 4,but the artura does have the power to weight advantage,so it was a no brainer who would win.I'm still taking the z06 simply for that flat plane V8 and the fact that it looks way better

People are putting half a million dollar cars up against the Corvette and going “Wow, that half a million dollar car looks cool and performance impressive.” In other words, we’re ALL aware of the many reasons why the C8 Corvette is truly a game changing icon but there are still many who despise of it and hate on KZread who will never give Chevrolet the credit that is due. The fact the ZO6 still launched better than the Artura speaks volumes about the level of engineering that went into the car, rear wheel drive and launched better than something with the odds in their favor. 600 lbs difference is almost unheard of for any drag race - it’s like apples to oranges.

@@mybro727 I'm not sure if you're referring to this video but the price difference was 144k vs 240k. On paper they seem to not be miles apart from each other but in reality the difference over the 1/4 was huge. I'm a huge fan of the Z06 especially the epic noise it makes and think it's a fantastic car, my guess though given the huge performance gap is the McLaren in their typical fashion is making far more than 670bhp.
Mclaren all day! power, presence and prestige.

Fastest Vmax car is european, fastest track cars are european and so on. Most valuable cars are all european....you know the rest. Americans always get salty but they know they can't compete.
