Ayyy Chiko shouting out roc nation. They really get black people in America to understand what I me as an Irish descendant in South Africa sees as African pride and joy. Because chico made it big and went to America just like Trevor. They left to motherland to go and show people african american vibes need to be more chill out there. Roc nation are invested in the Sharks from Durban if I'm not mixing it up. I feel like even if I make it I can't go do my thing in my motherland Europe. I'm Dutch Irish straight down the middle. Mom a very free spirited afrikaans white tannie and I don't speak dutch but I can kind of read it, but I feel like Africa is my fatherland. Because mommy can make you feel and love and long for home, but my dad has very clearly Irish tendencies and I naturally fell in love with Ireland seeing it on TV. But while mommy can make you feel (and that's how you learn to respect women and own it), but I feel like if I ever struck a woman out of hatred (and not kinky spanking) struck a woman my dad would show me that we do not use our anger like that in a way a man can sometimes get irrationally mad. Motherland makes you feel and enjoy different things that are similar to "home" but fatherland will instill that respect and sturdiness that keeps you true to yourself but allows you to try other cultures in a respectful way. Because remember, Jan van Riebeek and the dutch were here wayy before most of the Irish immigrants. So the voortrekkers feel like home and year they fiercely and intensely fought the Zulus and white Christians still observe December 16th as a sabbath as we promised God we would all those years back. I feel like we figured out how rough and tumble this country can be just in terms of weather. It's home, it's that strong pride I feel when singing our anthem. National pride is a natural feeling. But then daddy came along and reminded us what can happen when we don't mix things up in the very Mzansi way. Because Hitler was born in Austria, home, mommy in this analogy. And yet this motherfucker still united the Germans in their pursuit of world domination, and that kind of intense love of home when not managed properly by calm and strong principles can make people hate in a whole other way that I do not get. Germany was the fatherland for Hitler. I feel like us white guys saw Khoi san and were like nope Cape is too hot, we're heading up North and to the west coast where the voortrekkers fought the Zulus. We figured out living together with immigrants can be great, but if they don't have that measured love of home they won't respect yours. My ancestors and even modern religion and culture taught me that anger and love mix in weird ways sometimes, and if you don't have fear you can't respect. So when big bad England talks about race and immigration and religion something in me becomes both Julius Malema and Paul Kruger. It's that mix of intense free love I want to have for my fellow human being no matter where I go, but learning the culture and understanding their version of respect and dignity is also important. So when I sing every verse in in our anthem with a different vibe, it's because I remember that I'm African but also hey boetie you're still white ne. Remember your struggles and empathise with the guy you're about to have a discussion with. You're in Africa now my man, flamboyance passsionate love is for some people. But remember to introduce that passion from a place of respect. Share you culture and enjoy it, it's home. But don't go overboard like Zuma and steal all the things ne. This wonderful continent makes you learn things in great ways, but remember the Dutch love football and the Irish kind of vibe with rugby as well and have distinctive games like Gaelic Football and strange and foreign language and accent. It's somewhere in between, yin yang to me isn't about 50/50 but finding that happy medium. It's uniting two different and wonderful cultures and learning how to love passionately but respectfully. Some things get you riled up, but even the concept of Great Britain doesn't sit right with me. Because in Rugby Ireland is Ireland but any soccer fan will tell you there is division between people in your homeland. And yet the dutch seem like such a calm and fun people to me. Madiba's speeches make me feel some type of way because I was born on 18 July just like him, but my past isn't his past and when we figure this racial an cultural thing out for ourselves it's about balance. To each their own but be civil about it and you'll find your way down the road of pain, pride and nuance to get along with most normal people. It's like I love you JuJu but socialism just ain't my vibe. But even I can get red hot under the collar in both fiery and ice cold ways when I hear things like fees must fall and pay back the money. White people music ain't black people music but whoever I marry one day I want both kinds of love songs playing. Corny and catchy tunes like All of Me and Galway Girl. But sometimes you can't truly love someone without crying to Hello ne. Even my english gets messy sometimes but hey, apply some afrikaans style structure and fellow Africans can kind of learn to understand but apply their values to how you feel. Every person learns to deal with bigotry and hatred and ignorance at some point, but if you keep your stuff chill we can all enjoy the vibes at the party
