Thank you for sharing your travel with us! It was great getting to "visit Rhinebeck" and the adjacent fiber festivals with you from afar. I appreciate the thoughtfulness about the direction of fiber festivals, especially in light of so much happening this year (Stitches dissolving, now Wool & Folk). I have been thinking about visiting the brand new So Cal Fiber Fair later this month and still putting a lot of thought about attending. I'm sorry about that beautiful wooden casualty. In case you haven't fixed it yet, I know that the glue preferred by wood cutting board makers is Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue (it's FDA approved for indirect food contact, waterproof, and is non-toxic). We had an accident with my thick cutting board (and it's a great board, plus I'm sentimental since it was a gift... so I really wanted to repair it and not replace it) and I did a ton of research to reach out and find the best way to repair it. Just as an FYI. :)

Thank you, thank you so much for your excellent explanation of the Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool festival and recognizing all the farmers, breeders, etc. and all their work that goes into the festival! I grew up in a farming community in Wisconsin. We are so blessed to have the Jefferson Sheep and Wool festival! It was so nice this year to see out of state vendors able to come back after the pandemic and help to make it a success. I am so grateful to call myself a member of the fiber community!

Well hello,, it was terrific to meet you and Denise In person! You both were so welcoming! I didn't really answer Denise's question about how I found the festival because I thought it might be too long and I was a bit overwhelmed after working there the morning. Been going there and volunteering off and on since it began way back. guessing Denise would know the Hudson Valley pretty well so just wanted to let her know that Kingston has a yarn shop with wine bar on the waterfront which is a really nice place to visit with park and restaurants ,

Sunday was the best day. Beautiful weather, more space I was disappointed that for the second year in a row they ran out of the Rhinebeck pins. I wish there was a Pre-vendor Rhinebeck video. It is hard to see everything at Rhinebeck. We go back to the car and tailgate with wine and cheese and our own food half day. New England Sheep and Wool Festival is coming up at the Big E in November in Massachusetts

Welcome home! I just found a wool festival in Pomona, CA Nov 18. I don't know if I can go - hubby is having his hip replaced on Nov 7 but I'm going to look into it just in case. Your tips make good sense too - thank you. May your small business succeed at just the right pace.

Hi Joanna. Thank you for the super wool festival “round-ups”. As a person who has mobility issues as well as a great discomfort at events with many people your vlogs are the most magical way for me to “attend” such festivals. Enjoy your time in Portland - I look forward to seeing what you it is like through your eyes. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah

Dear Joanna, I love you and Denise SO much! I found Denise through The Woolly Thistle (she did an interview with them) and then found you through Denise and have followed (and binge watched) both of you since then! I had really, really wanted to come to Rhinebeck to meet you both this year, so having your travel vlogs is such an amazing experience for me. THANK YOU! You brought me to tears! :) Both you and Denise continue to inspire my knitting AND to push me out of my introverted world and I thank you both! Keep doing what you are doing because I appreciate it so very much! Love and Hugs to you!

Hi Joanna! I have really enjoyed your Rhinebeck videos. I don't knit, but I have been crocheting for years and also sew. I will never be able to make it to Rhinebeck, so I watch the videos. I notice you said you will be going to the Sacred Sheep Festival in Portland. I live in Vancouver and wished I would have know about this festival earlier. I would probably have gone. Maybe next year.

Thank you for raising the issue of accessibility. For years now I have often felt left out when it comes to knitting retreats, events and believe it or not even the ability to access yarn shops. ALOT of yarn shops in Toronto Ontario Canada are NOT accessible. This is always very upsetting. Shops, buildings, events all really should be accessible in today’s day and age but sadly they are not. We definitely need more attention brought to the matter. I’m so tired of having shop owners tell me that they are not accessible but can mail out the yarn if I wish. Sorry but no, I would rather have the ability to join the knitting community as a whole and to enjoy and partake in the full experience just the same as an able bodied person. It makes me want to abandon knitting/crochet. Thank you for bringing the issue to the forefront xo

Just kistening to the end of this episode. I live in Sydney NSW and I know from experiences here with festivals that when a festival is not successful, ie the consumers were not very happy with organisation, that festival goes out of business and it doesn't get replaced or fixed (we have a very small population when compared with the US). We just loose another festival and its so sad. The organisers just stop. Not sure what the festival situation is there when it comes to fixing management. Our wool industry of home grown indi producers and wool mills is practically very scarce. Mills were sold to China.. there are a few people who are trying to reintroduce a home industry but its a uphill journey. Festivals are not the be all and end all.. the local yearly primary industries (we call them Shows that are held in the local show venues). Ive noticed that the isolation of the past years has made people not willing to help anyone. We are just mentally land physically lazy. We have become introverted to the max (and its worse for those who of us who have anxieties). If the wool festival doesn't or is unable to reconstruct itself then not sure what will happen. Expectations were not met and so many podcasters have made whole episodes about negativity and unmet expectations. Whoooooo. I'm not there. Our festivals are so small. There's no comparison. Sorry, Ive written a short story. Probably won't watch any more podcast with Rhineback in its promo.

P.S. I’ve used a couple of kits from Felted Sky and they are fabulous! Great instructions, tutorials, and the supplies are top-notch. The only drawback is that they are packaged so beautifully that I hesitate to take them apart to make! 😂 But I eventually do! I’ve done the sheep scene, a felted sheep, and pumpkins, love them!!!

Loved your video recap and critique of the festivals. Your presentation is very professional with just enough time spent on each topic. The video portion of Rhinebeck provided good coverage of the multi-aspects of this wonderful festival. I was not able to attend this year but I am a big fan of this festival. Your tips were very helpful. This past year, I attended a festival in Montreal that was Superb! Next year it will be held in Toronto and I highly recommend that one if you are able to attend. ❤
