One of New York City's loads of human "solid waste" on the "Poop Train" got stuck in Parrish, Alabama for a while in April 2018, to the best of my knowledge. NYC appears to not have the ability to handle their own waste. Maybe the Clinton political dynasty will fix it immediately. I sincerely wish everyone the best, and I admire that bravery of the person that swam in that water to make his point. Naturally, I hope that he safely cleaned and sanitized himself after doing so.

I always knew that water was disgusting. My aunt took me to go kayaking on the Hudson, and it was horrible--the water is BROWN, and every time I stuck my paddle in the water a condom or something got pushed up. I refused to paddle quickly because that would stir the water up enough to get me wet...and when we got out the water, the first thing I did was run and find a fountain where I could wash my legs...I can't believe you swam in that!

I'm in Gothenburg, Sweden. The authorities here STRONGLY suggest you do not swim in our harbour (/Gota Alv river mouth) even though we really don't have any pollution in it, just dog/cat/bird feces alone is enough to make it really unhealthy. So, having been to New York a couple of times, doing the comparison to where I'm at now, to take a bath in the Hudson River, man, that's some extreme sports right there, hehe... I daring stunt to say the least... ;)

mario rico What is paradise? That can be so many different things to different people. To many its living in a country that offers social, relgious, economic freedoms. There are many jobs in America for anyone whos willing to work. With dedication one can truly succeed in this country. Theres no reason why anyone should go starving here. Not too many countried offer these benefits. in fact, most countries do not. New York especially is an economic powerhouse. I know of countless immigrants from Russia, South America, Asia that have come here and are now fulfilling their dreams and full potentials. Something not possible in their home countries.

Many people speak as if we've gone the way of zimbabwe or venezuela but our economy is still robust, larger than that of china and India combined and yet we have less population than those countries. America has its faults no doubt, like every country. Our middle class is being squeezed, our inequality is worsening etc. Some things we could work on but no country is without its faults. I dont doubt Latin America, Russia, China etc have all improved economically and socially. Its within everyones interest that the world improve overall and we have less extreme poverty across the board. But America must be doing something right for it to still receive mass amounts of immigrants from all over, from Russia, China, India, bangladesh, Phillipines, Mexico, etc They still come because we are still favorable. Our cities are full of foreigners. I would know, I have many friends from these countries who tell me theyve left for greater economic opportunity, for better social mobility and social freedoms wich theyve achieved in the United States. America is full of fantastic places, varied cities with varied climates and topographies. Cities that offer a very high quality of life, jobs higher education and space. New York for instance, has among the cleanest drinking water in the world with great suburbs to raise families. The rivers are ironically not so clean but something we've improved over the decades. Still work to be done.

I live in NYC, born and raised. I imagine that there were a such thing of a renewable sea plant that grew wild in the water giving off a very powerful harmless chemical that would vaccinate the most powerful water pollution. Due to these sea plants, the darkest the water would get if the sewage system were to be too high and the water were surrounded by the city is a transparent dark teal color. And imagine the sea plants were to be in the bible and the function is that to protect the water and the sea creatures from any toxic. And imagine that all sea creatures living off of the plants and the plants cleans the sea creatures from harmful toxic that would harm us people.

I had an interesting suggestion for the fires and having a sign system like the tsunami evac signs but to have lights and speakers connected to play recorded information the lighted signes could lead people to safety i was amazed at how disorganized things were that I was driving along the california 12 thinking of where to evacuate just before the fire appairently spread around many places I was evacuating to if I had chose to just take my chance heading south on the 101 while embers the size of blankets flying in the air preying until I got within distance from the bridge I was terrified hoping I wouldn't have to turn around and navigate myself around the fire north of me

I crawled thru the sewer pipes that feed the Hudson. With that said it was for a project to separate the sanitary lines from storm water lines so treatment plants don't need to overflow. But it's expensive and takes a long time as well as newyork is not the only place with combination storm sanitary pipes it's mostly all northern states that have combo pipes but most places are working to separate this

I’m from Brooklyn. I lived on 73rd street between L & M about 3 blocks from the bureau of sewers on 5962 flatlands Avenue. Behind that place is a canal that empties out into the bay and ultimately The Atlantic Ocean. The water near the plant is absolutely disgusting. The water smells absolutely putrid and the muddy shores around the plant have a consistency or fecal matter. It’s beyond disgusting. Sewage Waste management in New York is obviously horrible. It makes me wish I never flushed my toilet there and just peed and defacated in the woods and just covered it up. That’s the natural way of disposing of urine and feces. In a city as big as New York with that many people there’s no way all that meterial can be processed through the sewers

Not sure a quick dip is enough to significantly harm you, but I think cancer and other diseases caused by environmental pollution generally take a few years to begin developing concerning effects anyways
