@@achmed2pac That's very negative. Jesus Christ is God and can heal your asthma but lets Satan control the world? 1. Hubris - Your saved but the world is led by Satan? 2. Zero Faith - all is as God wills it. Your lack of faith in God is staggering. 3. Ignorance - The God of Islam and Christianity are the same. The only difference is in what you practice. If you're gonna come on here and preach at least educate yourself a little and tone down the crazy. More evil has been committed in God's name through practices like yours. It seems like your belief in Satan is stronger than all others given the power you assign to him.

@joelismymaster The rain is mother nature created by "God", correct?. Pollution, pest and sins are washed away. Rain, lightning, and nature produce negative ions, which are great for the human mind, spirit, and body. The air is fresher, animals, plants and people are rejuvenated. People seem to act better. Noah and the flood, rainbow as a covenant, or locust being sent to destroy. Yes, washes away or punished through nature. Take your pick.

People need to understand this can happen anywhere, anytime, from now on. Clean your storm drains BEFORE it happens. Edit 4 hours and 50 replies later: By THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE I mean a weather system locked over a geographical location and pouring incredible amounts of water. It's been happening all over the world at ANY ALTITUDE (below snow level of course) ANYTIME FROM NOW ON because global warming means ever increasing amounts of water in the atmosphere. Sure even clean drains won't be enough, but it's one step in a series of steps than can help lessen the gravity of the flooding. I'd rather start with clean drains than clogged drains. Of course there are other things to do..

A bit of political will that planned ahead and said just 1 % of the cost of this flood damage allotted in advance and put toward creating a supplementary extended water drainage system (far less prone to being clogged and plugged up by garbage and debris) could have eliminated anywhere from two thirds to three quarters of all the rain water that fell within 1-3 hours of it coming down as rain. I mean, what do we think large cities in tropical rain and monsoon-prone parts of the world do? Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Caracas, Bogota, Lagos, Kolkata? (My reluctant apologies to anyone who hasn't got a clue where any of these major cities are.) Although...Tokyo is almost unforgivable. Meanwhile the mighty New York City, the Big Apple - just sits and waits like a good little victim, a damsel in distress, for this to happen. It is still right there in the middle of a hurricane trajectory. Not a bad idea to plan ahead. And climate change? Funny how it will hit one place 10 times in a row, and yet another place one or two hundred miles away, it will leave alone for 150 years. Climate is cute that way.

@@HighCoup333 , where did you get "8 INCHES of rain in one hour..."?! Are you insanely "thinking" that nearly 200 inches of rain fell?! They said "about 2 months of rain in 24 HOURS" and the amounts given were anywhere from about half a foot to just over 8 inches worth in TWENTY-FOUR HOURS not "one hour." No one knows if the city was lax in doing their job to keep the storm/sewer piping/drains sufficiently clear or if this really was a "capacity limit" issue. The fact is, the Democrat politicians have put nothing into "recalculating" the piping system of some ~7,000+ miles which is estimated to cost ~$100 BILLION. However, MAYBE IF the Democrat politicians weren't so worried about wasting $$ on people who are in the country illegally along with stuffing $$ into their own pockets and actually have some decency and respect for the citizens they TAKE tax dollars from, then MAYBE they'd have already upgraded the system supplying ~24 MILLION+ people with service. It's comical that with the Democrat push to always cry "CLIMATE CHANGE!!!", WHY did they sit and OBSERVE "CLIMATE CHANGE!!" for decades without EVER upgrading the drainage system?! Maybe it's because they don't care about New Yorkers being flooded just so they can reinforce their "climate agenda" such that "If you just give up your gas cooking stoves and embrace solar/wind turbines, THAT WILL MAKE THE FLOODING STOP!!" -_- The idiocy is off the charts.

If water raises 6-inches to a foot above the car floor, this very well could be considered enough damage for the car to be totaled as a flood damaged car. The flood waters in the car interior causes black mold in the carpet, shorts out and corrodes electrical connections that are not water-proof in the interior of the car and costing more money to repair; making it a total loss by car insurance company. States will not register cars that are flood damage and list the cars as salvage and not operable on the road.

I can't believe people are driving in water that deep. Did they go out in it or get stuck in it...?

Honestly this looks refreshing. looks like mother nature is washing and cleaning out the filth, piss smell, dirt, slimy grimes that is dirty New York. After the water subsides, watch how clean it will be for a while.

Does ny have a proper drainage system in place? Are there the necessary number of grated drains and are they the proper size? Are the grates kept free of debris? Those are the first questions I have.

I think I recognized one of those photos as Jersey City. That brings back memories of Hurricane Sandy that shut down rail traffic for a month! Fortunately I'm over 1000 miles away now where water is hard to come by! Can you send a couple clouds out here?!

Didn't this happen a couple years ago as well? Glad to see how the city addressed the issue and did preventative maintenance, especially with all that inflation reduction act infrastructure money that the Feds supposedly doled out to everyone. Just hope there weren't any casualties this time.
