The mayor and the governor are a total embarrassment letting this happen. I’ve had my reservations with Ron DeSantis but he did the right thing signing an anti-squatters bill in Florida. That needs to be done nationwide.

Squatters don't have rights. The catch is they've lived in the property for 30 days or more, and they legally become a tenant, and the landlord then has to go to court and get an eviction notice. The law is meant to protect people with informal leasing agreements, but squatters take advantage of it.

This has nothing to do with him. These laws have been in place for decades. Unfortunately they are written in a manner which allows these horrible situations to take place. The law needs to be amended so that the word “tenant” is clearly defined. They also needs to up the penalties for convicted squatters.

This has nothing to do with the governor or the mayor. These laws are old and were written in a way that doesn’t clearly define the word “tenant”. That’s the problem. The need to amend the law to define who and what a tenant is.

My sympathy to these property owners. The laws favor the criminals. Decent people cannot protect themselves or their property. This is a nightmare.

This law is so unreasonable. Needs to get rid of squatter rights nationwide especially in blue states.

Allow landlords to evict immediately, but allow lawful tenants to sue the landlord for unlawful eviction for up to 2 years rent.

I think this just shows how bad high rents are! Unless housing prices, costs, and rents come down, these problems are going to continue, or get worse! It Seems to me that the legislators have to change the laws.

Citizens that pay property tax on the property they own should have the right to sue the government for the problems they have made with their stupid laws and also get punitive damages.

This is happening on my block now. They broke into the home and have multiple cares, changing license plates. The cops have been there multiple times and nothing has happened

The happen here in California the take two years wait for the court.

Living under Demoncrat rule has to be miserable.

State governments who ignore this issue are true villains in these cases.
