I think the Ashen wolves may be a reference to the Fire emblem: Three Houses DLC with the same name. Also considering the Ashen wolf in Minecraft also shares a similar colour to the house the ‘Ashen Wolves’ in the Fire emblem DLC

Oh yeah, when I spawned into a forest snow biome in my newest world, I found 2 snow dogs right next to each other (I had experiments on)

other wolves: the alpha snowy wolf: SIGMAAAAAAA!!!!

This is a very rare time when Mojang actually listened to the fans and created something amazing

By the way the pale wolf is the default wolf for any that are manually spawned in areas that wolves dont spawn in naturally(such as deserts, birch, dark oak, other dimensions)
