New water pump in my Land Cruiser w/ 3FE engine
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Well, my water pump was leaking, and all those hoses were getting old and nasty. So I changed it all! Including the thermostat and heater control valve. Just a heads up: I learned what to remove along the way. For a quick tip, just remove almost everything on the passenger side of the engine to access what you need for this job (air box, battery box, AC unit, and various tensioner brackets and pulleys). Watch the whole video to see what exactly I did.

Definitely not enough videos on KZread thatcover 91-92 Landcruiser . I have a 91 with 150K miles so I really appreciate the step by step videos. Great job!

You're welcome!
Great video. I did my '89 LC a few months ago. I learned the hard way about needing to move AC unit after finding a leak in the hose on that side when I was done. Had to get back in there to properly tighten hose clamps. Also broke same bolt as you on thermostat housing. Was able to carefully drill it out without damaging threads and replaced all those bolts.
Great video and narration as always. Very informative. Glad I watched all of it. My WP is fine but now I know how to replace my heater control valve. Thank you!
Also suggest checking and/or replacing sensors on the water pump. After I changed my pump my FJ62 was very hard to start. Found cracked wire had come off the 'cold start injector timing switch' which controls fuel delivery for cold weather starts. (important if you live in colder climates) Replaced that switch & other Temp Sensors hanging off the pump and the VSV valve. Worth the time & not much money.

That's great advice!
Great walkthrough. Last time I touched a 3fe was probably 10yrs ago. Such a solid motor. A true legend!
Back and forth on those stubborn bolts! Brilliant! Edit: I wrote that just before you broke that bolt. Sucks.

Haha, my new method is a cordless impact. That works better... sometimes...
Thank you for the video, any way you can share the part numbers of all parts? I'm needing to do the same. Thanks!

Hi, I don't have the part #s, but I can tell you I used Spector offroad's website. They have a great system for picking out exactly what parts you need, all based on diagrams.

@@ldooffroad1823 I'll check it out. Thanks again! I'm getting mine ready for summer too and these videos help a ton.
man this video rocks! it helped me alot with my 92
Great video! Had to have been a great relief to get the broken bolt out.
I’m about to embark on this exact journey. I’ve got a 91 that’s starting to weep antifreeze from the pump area. I figured I’d also change the hoses and other misc items like you while I’m in there. Any chance you’ve got a parts list?!!

I don’t have a parts list, but Spector Offroad has a very helpful diagram system to pick out each part. That’s what I used. Make sure you do every hose.
Where is a good place to source hoses and even clamps?

You can buy specific hoses from Rockauto or Specter Offroad. Clamps I would just buy at a hardware store, but choose quality.
Any issues with the power? I always hear it doesn’t have power but wondering if it’s as reliable as the 1fz

Supposedly the 3FE is more reliable because the heads are not know to warp/crack. The power is lower thought. In fact, I just swapped in a LS V8. Videos to come...

@@ldooffroad1823 I have a 2008 Toyota 4Runner with only 28k original miles serviced at Toyota. V8 engine lowest in the nation. Do you know anyone that is looking to buy one?
Question: What brand/model thermostat did you use?

How did you get that bolt out

To be honest, I can't remember exactly. I think I removed the upper portion of the thermostat housing, and then used vise-grips to twist the broken shaft back and forth until the corrosion loosened up. Sometimes back and forth works better than just powering through a seized bolt.
Well do you need the valve adjust .!! I think a lot of people need .. adjust the valve ..
