so, im invested alredy in 3 v1 vtxs and one 1s kit. If it is the case that i can upgrade all the cameras only i am so happy i didnt buy dji back then. Great content!

likely no, because DJI broke up relationship with Caddx and DJI keep everything proprietary.

Hmm ,then how about another solution, instead of sending all video down ,what if instead there is a small transmitter In the goggles that transmits to the board of the cameras that processes the angle of the goggles and adapts the video transmission to that signal instead of the goggles

Cool reveiew. i just bought one waiting for shipping and still have to build a quad for it :P, i do have a question as you may be able to answer it, i was wondering if you can change cameras on the vtx? just to make it easier not to have 2 quads one for night time early evening and day time. Australian full blowen sunlight :) oh and heat haha 😂 😂 and i forgot what else i was going to ask . love your chanel like all of the good channels on FPV Wings, Drones, Helicopters and Aeroplanes. wish i had stacks of cash lol and a verry big room. thank you for sharing nice to know what the camera n vtx v2 can do and hopefully its interchangable.(bet its not)

You can swap cameras. A little fiddly as it uses those MIPI style connectors on the back of the camera... Happy flying!

Its great that they increased the memory but I agree an SD card slot is the way to go. 32 is better than what is was but I would love to know just how long that would take to fill with all the setting at max. A mini talon with 12,000 mah liion pack flys for a good long while.

To give you an idea, a 1080P 60FPS video lasting 2:13 takes up 816MB...

One benefit I like on this new vtx is that you can run your choice of 20x20 or 25x25 mounting. I agree with you on the need for an sd card slot for more efficient video file retrieval.

Very nice, can I use softserial instead of UART for the VTX? I have no UART left on my FC. I have F411-WTE, and been using its two UARTs for the ELRS and GPS connections. Thanks

DJI HD systems can work from a SoftSerial port, Walksnail needs a full Hardware UART running at 115,200 to get the telemetry. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYFm0cVxj5PVYNI.html covers it.

No, only dji hardware will work with the DJI goggles. I've tested a few of the latest RunCam cameras for the DJI system,,,check them out... Happy flying

i have walksnail vrx fw 33.xxx with a maytek f405 wmn fw 5.1.0. recomended from you infact lol. setup in a ranger t1 all is well except no home arrow. 12 sats 3d lock. distance to home works elevation speed etc. on arm I get "home" coordinates.. just a blinky like where the arrow should be. im stumped please advise.

Set the OSD type to INAV not AUTO. I had the same thing... Happy flying

Walksnail offers much more customization than DJI just by the factor of how DJI business is built. I see it as somewhere between full DIY hobby and something like DJI. Flexible, customizable, yet easy to handle.

@@Painless360 Yes it was me. Thanks! It looks like the gyro data is pretty good and gyroflow will have to do an override for the out of order axis, oh well. At least it works well. Thanks again! I was able to just use an IMU orientation of yXZ which meant I could then skip the rotation settings.

I heard using the Walksnail VRX with analogue goggles increases the latency by quite a lot. The Recon goggles would be the best choice i think.😉

Thanks Lee - I agree about the lack of diversity, the lack of a microSD card slot, and the lack of a USB-C port on the receiver, (why oh why did they go with that darn proprietary/fragile/short USB connector)? All that said, I'll be buying the camera for the gyro data. In that sense, 3 cheers Walksnail (though the gyro should have been a part of the original release).

It's worse than I thought, from Oscar Laing - "It’s also worth noting that every VTX from Walksnail (V1, V2, 1S Mini, and 1S Mini Lite) now uses a different USB adapter cable". He also says there is both a "non-pro" and "pro" unit, with the non-pro having 8gb OR 32gb? So there's at least 3 cameras total? But then I've also seen a mere $6 price difference between the non-pro and pro. So - why would anyone choose the non-pro?

@@Bill-NM it is a bit more confusing than that. You have two camera: the pro which has Sony low light 16:9 gyro, and the V2 which has a native 4:3 sensor (which may be better for stabilization), and you have two version of the V2 VTX (8go or 32go). But the bundle with v2 camera and 8go vtx has a version of the V2 camera that does not have a gyro...

Also - I was thinking about this and realized (duh), that ANY camera can work with Gyroflow of course as long as gyro data can be recorded in the flight controller (or other gyro source). Meaning that the Walksnail customers who MUST have the gyro-enabled camera, are folks who don't have black box recording in their flight controller.

@@Bill-NM I am not practiced in gyroflow, but I suppose having the gyro in the camera and having the data generated perfectly synced with the video must help a lot. Having the 32go storage instead of 8go is enough for me to justify the 10 usd price difference between the two version. 8go is tiny and the data extraction process is a bit painful.

Mark me down as one of the "wait-and-see"/skeptics as a longtime DJI user. And I have to be honest they (Walksnail) are winning me over slowly but surely. One of the few things I was missing was something equal to the Polar, which is my go-to for DJI. The ability to fly at dusk or at night in full HD and color is really amazing. So I'm excited to try this out. This camera looks like it may be even better than the Polar.
