New visitors, Orioles playing in the water fountain, young Woodpecker, Tanager, Cardinals and More!

This was such a fun day. There was a lot of action here at Bird Watcher Ranch. It's darling to see all these different types of birds co-existing and eating together. From a family of White Wing Doves to some silly Orioles bathing and playing in water, there's never a dull moment to be had! Let's not forget to mention the precious and chubby little Pyrrhuloxia that makes the occasional appearances. We had a brief visit from the Western Tanager which is fairly rare in our area as is the Black-headed Grosbeak. Happy to give them a safe haven to eat, drink & rest. If any watchers have any advice on how we can improve our setup please don’t hesitate to share. We love advice & critique as it is our goal to create a bird paradise out here in Arizona.

At 8:06 the juvenile male Hooded Oriole sits on the metal ring to the left of the fountain. Can you say exactly where you are , or very close to it. If you look at the All About Birds page for the Hooded and Bullocks their territory in Arizona are close. The one at 8:24 is a juvenile. Love the juvenile Pyrrhuloxia at 14:53. At 15:25 on the left side of the feeder pan is a female Western Tanager. At 15:54 on the orange tray is a Female Black-Headed Grosbeak with the striped head. 2 of them at 16:23. 16:49 behind the orange flat feeder is, I think, a female Hooded Oriole. By the way, they do make Oriole Nectar Feeders. Gorgeous male Northern Cardinal 22:17 center of tray.

Wowwww! Thank you Ginger! I’m so glad I asked you, I was confused as sometimes I don’t do the best job of telling the orioles apart! I just placed an order for the oriole feeder you mentioned! I’m excited to get it 😆 I feel bad because they have been trying to get in the hummingbird feeder’s without success. I heard they liked oranges but when I left out oranges and jams, it seemed it just attracted the bees! This is going to sound silly but I now have a bee feeding station around back to keep them happy too 😂

@@birdwatcherranch You are very welcome. Those 2 Orioles are hard to figure out sometimes. So glad you got the Orioles their own feeder, they are a nectar drinking bird. Very, very happy that you got the bees feeding station. What they want is just water. It is to cool their hives. Whenever you want to know about a bird just type the name into a search window, find All About Birds or ebird to learn about these birds , that is what I do. Don't feel bad about the Orioles, it is common for them to drink out of hummingbird feeders. I love that you are so excited about the birds and taking care of them. Some day I hope we can find a way to email.

@@birdwatcherranch I am super happy you are giving the bees water. I only saw 5 bees in my yard all summer, very sad, so we need to help them out. Thanks for doing that!
