Dehydration, most likely on drugs, high as a kite, invincibility kicked in, misjudged the distance home, panicked, confused, got lost, once dehydration really kicks in your screwed! Especially if your lost in a remote area. Even if you drink you still need your minerals or it can screw you more. He’s definitely a gonner unless this is a prank. Got lost myself up on scafel pike in the Lake District. Took the wrong turn down the mountain, it went dark, no lights in sight, no phone battery, luckily I found a river running, followed it and luckily I got to a road, guy took me back to the car park where I started. Was 12 Mile away! To say I panicked was an understatement!! Lesson learned!

Well done, Sir! This is absolutely the correct analysis. I would add one further point- this man has a history of poor decision making, with a lack of regard for consequences. Your point about misjudging the distance is spot on - seeing the island on a map it looks tiny, and with impaired judgement he probably imagined he could hoof it home faster than the 2 hours it would take to wait for a bus. As for your difficulties in the Lake District, this reminded me of the episode in "Amsterdam" (Ian McEwan novel) where a character has a similar fiasco in the same spot! I grew up in the Highlands of Scotland, and people getting lost/into difficulties on the hills is a common occurrence. Usually always visitors who come ill prepared.

The story of his disappearance just does not make sense. The fact he has not been found only seems to confirm that Lucy's story is not truthful. Have they checked the phone records to confirm the call she says she received? How was Lucy able to go to the mountain that morning and find the exact Airbnb he was at? When she didnt know the men who were there or where it was at all? THAT DOESBT MAKE SENSE

Because he sent her a screen shot of his whereabouts and said he had been walking for 30 minutes. Fairly easy to find a place on that basis. I'm not sure why his not being found calls into question Lucy's story. They will find his remains in due course - he's in that gorge.

You should know that he is or was a good boy - same as Stephen Lawrence. Never mind what people on Reddit and other media post, including Any screenshots about his duping delight mother buying designer stuff out there. Also we shouldn't pay attention to rumours that his friend Lucy Law is a quite high ranking drug dealer with mules working below her (wouldn't a female need backup from a male with a males strength to do that?). Ignore the photo of the turban man who is said to be the kingpin he is supposed to have been dealing with, and another photo of three blokes they asked one searcher to take of them, telling her to make sure it is seen by whoever needs to see it. Also we mustn't question why almost all donations on the gofundme are from females.... all around £5. An awful lot of fivers to reach £30,000 so fast. We also mustn't notice that not many donations seem to be listed. Now no one suspect money laundering. Are fund me incomes tax free? Especially if received in Tenerife? I don't know the tax status of it there. Never mind that his duping delight mother reportedly was busy buying a Gucci bag and Chanel purse. It isn't from the gofundme money that they reportedly cannot access. Nor that he was reported as seen onk 3.5 miles away. If it's even true and not another distraction hoax, then I think it's a pity his 7 thug mates who also almost murdered Tim Hilton ( also involved with a drugs gang?), weren't there with Jay Slater and also "went missing". That could have been 8 nasty criminals off the streets - and not breeding. I also suspect that the police in Tenerife only reacted so quickly because they hope to catch the Moroccan dealers he was supposedly doing business with, or find a large amount of drugs - or both. If it's true. After the way the British "police" sabatoaged evidence of poor little Maddie Mccann, it isn't surprising that their "help" was refused.

Why does the mother not tell the truth, that she knew he was going over to sell drugs. At least be open and help out the investigation.

Agree, setting/getting a 'GoFundMe' £30k target so fast, smacks of cynical opportunism by the Slaters - they were probably in a hurry to get donations, before the dark truth about their son and brother comes out. What i dont get is why did lucy report him missing so quickly. She had been talking to him and then knew he had a 10 hour walk but reported him missing within an hour! maybe i am wrong but i thought that is what they did do, they went up to look for him and then called the police... then set up the page. Of course there could be more to this and he is hiding until they pay back 15k for missing bag of rolexes (not watches) so they may have taken him to hide or given him supplies and a burner phone (so maybe police have picked up one the alleged missing items theory) and he will pop out of a goat shed soon 🐐🐐

I reckon the explanation will turn out to be simple, Jay probably knew these guys from being around the festival earlier in the week, perhaps it was their last night. Probably went back to listen to music and chill. Maybe they said it wasn't far so he might not have been aware of the real distance. I think if more information was released about these two other lads then it would all look a lot more normal in terms of the events that night.

He got lost and confused in the middle of the night, got lost, had no water, day came and the sun is scorching. Guess what happened: Died of dehydration. Any other outcome will be very rare.

Missing 411 cases show how experienced folk with their wits about them get utterly lost in familiar terrain and succumb to the elements . bodies have a habit of being recovered from areas already searched in some cases .

@@melgrant7404 not necessarily as many missing 411 cases have proven . sometimes bodies in plain sight are missed on initial searches .

The one thing that I notice is that mum doesn’t make eye contact during the interview & keeps her head down… lots of sniffing but not many actual tears ?…I just know if it were me I’d be really “ugly crying”… but maybe we are all different in these situations.

It does seem strange, which makes me think he could have been on drugs and got paranoid. I've known people to go on crazy hikes cos they are hallucinating (either visual or auditory). It can be an intense feeling to get away/get home.

His Parent's are after a free holiday.

Why were they waiting for him outside the rave when they were not in there

Why didn't the mentioned 'best friend', Lucy Mae Law, go with him if they were staying in the same accommodation. Decided to take an 11 hour walk after missing a bus, rather than go back to find his friends? Add to the drama that the phone battery was on 1%. And then, almost immediately, starts a GFM for £30K. Anyone listening to this story would know something isn't right 🤔

Who would go off to a place in Masca, also why did the people rent a remote Airbnb miles from tourist spots, looks suspicious, either way ! Gaz UK.

I'll give up 3 days of my time to look for him, just pay my flights and accommodation, I'll even provide my own meals and drinks

I don’t think he’s in that area anymore. The search and rescue know what they’re doing, the dogs haven’t had a “hit”, and they would have either found him by now, or smelled him.

How is it obvious he’s on drugs? Do you have evidence of him taking drugs kid? And Spain isn’t a strange country, it’s very well known to people from the UK. I’ve personally been to Spain over 30 times. Definitely not strange to me.

It makes complete sense. Drinking alcohol,taking drugs and probably very little sleep for 3 days. Then set off to walk home in the extreme heat with no water or food in difficult terrain. What would you expect the outcome to be? Not rocket science.

Why didn't they help him or raise alarm. I guess if booze & or drugs were part of the whole scenario there would be no logical reason to help. I just wonder if they could have done him harm? If so he might be on other sidecof island or never found. They just seem to be secondary on everyone's minds but were last to see him alive.

Sorry but I disagree. The search on Tenerife is almost a carbon copy of that for Dr Mosley. People in groups close together, walking in single file down a path, helicopter too high to see damn all and, in the case of the Greeks, a search dog that looked as if it was out for a stroll. When the British Police search you don’t see that do you, they spread out in a well spaced line and fight their way through the undergrowth, granted we don’t have Cacti to contend with but we have all manner of unpleasant things.

2 possibilities. the 2 strangers were the ones who arranged the boat from Playa de Masca to get Jay off the island, destination Morocco? or the 2 strangers turned on Jay and had him abducted, currently held hostage or lying 6 feet under, but nowhere near that national park.

Is there any caves within the area where he was seen?

Am I mean in thinking his mum couldn’t look the interviewer in the eye? Also when talking about factual stuff, discussing the upcoming holiday and quite accurately describing the dance side of the holiday she could look. Then when the subject went back to the ‘disappearance’ she reverted back to almost a Karen Mathews interview! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

More likely she’s just dissociating from the intense feelings of worry & grief she’s feeling. People with PTSD often do the same, can talk about the happier things leading up to the trauma & once it’s brought up again, your brain makes you dissociate to get through the conversation

The truth WILL come out. I wish this lad no harm. I wish this story was made more transparent. When he is found, which he will be, then the real story can be told! Meantime, ma knows a lot more about this than she is letting on. Dad decided to go join the hunt and the brother is refusing to speak about it. It’s all a little odd. They ALL know more!

There are quite a few unanswered questions in this story. 1. Why didn't the boy charge his phone in the house where he went with the two men? 2. Why did he set out in the mountains with an uncharged phone? 3. When his phone was almost dead, why didn't he send a short SMS (SOS, I'm lost in the mountains) so that his phone would give a signal as long as possible, which would have helped to find him. Talking about cacti doesn't help you find his location any better, it just drains the phone. This phone call seems more and more like a distraction to me. Someone may have coerced him into making this call, predetermining what he would say so that the searchers' attention would be focused on the mountains while he was elsewhere. Maybe dogs can give a more accurate answer. (I think parents know more)

I would look into the 2 brits he was last seen with. If anything happened to him it’s usually down to the last person/persons who was with them.

Has that last Snapchat picture been confirmed its even him he has what looks like a womans shawl or something. Did he have this on at the bus stop . Why didnt he boost his phone at the bnb.Has the bnb had forensics in so many things which dont add up. Vehicle which men had hired has this been looked at. My theory at first was he was having come down dehydrated collapsed somewhere but as the time passes im not so sure. The local police haven't gave a press conference. I think my comments been deleted and not sure why on this occasion? Censorship is crazy rn. Dropped a bag of gear.

I have been attacked multiple times by more than one person, with bats, knives and axes, but i wouldn't wish this on any of them or their families. The guy who was attacked by Jay and his mates would have most likely been in that life, same as me! All the people that keep mentioning 'The machete thing' don't have a clue about that world/life! So they should just leave it alone! Its especially not fair to his poor mother and family, to keep banging on about it!

He went back to have a few more drinks etc. Decided to walk back to hotel, fell or got dydrated etc. I dont believe all the ridiculous conspiracy theories, drug mule, stash pincher, mafia etc. I also dont believe he is a lovely lad who wouldn't hurt a fly nonsense either.
