There is no visible erosion control. The dirt and trees are just shoved into the river. There won't be any fish in that river or for 50 miles downstream.
I dont know how much flow is in that river when it floods but those abutments are a disaster waiting to happen .

Those abutments should be monolithic blocks,not backfilled/in-filled retaining walls. Poorly engineered.

Yes,a bridge abutment below the high flood mark should be monolithic; unless it's temporary.. Thousand year floods happen very often these days.
