Congratulations on the lectureship! 😀
Hi Dr CST! I have been following your videos since I started to apply for an academic position in the UK from Malaysia. I am delighted to inform you that I have accepted an offer of an Academic Research Fellow position; and my "in need" video is here! Many thanks for all your great contributions, which are priceless especially for them who are not very familiar with the academic and research landscape of the UK! Keep up the great work Dr CST :)

All the best for your new role 😀
I start my first full-time lecturing role next month, and I'm really glad you highlighted that teaching takes time. I'm only 26 and I do worry that I will be expected to deliver exceptional sessions as soon as I walk through the door. I'm excited to learn new skills and hopefully 'get the hang of it' but it's refreshing to hear other academics talk openly about the learning curve. Thank you.

How's it going? Also 26 and starting as a lecturer in a month. Any tips from your own experiences?
Recently found your channel. Enjoying it, thanks. Lots of good things. I’m at that career cross road and considering a move from hospital to university. Have done many hospital roles but university always there on my mind. My question would be around when is a good time to consider moving in your opinion?

Thanks for watching! I'm not sure there is ever a 'perfect' time to make a switch, but you can make a change that is 'right' for you. When I moved back to academia, the right job happened to come up and in the right area. So for me that was the 'right' time. I'd also been in industry long enough to build up the research/leadership skills to allow me to step into a lecturer role. I know others who moves later in their career and go straight into professor roles, but some people may leave it too long and then potentially not have the required research or teaching supporting evidence. If there is the possibility of working with a university on a collaborative research project whilst still being employed at the hospital, that could be a way to test the waters.
Just started a new role, and first lecture on Thursday…nervous is an understatement

Congratulations on your lecturer position - all the best for it 😀. Ooh planning tools is a good topic... I have a few that I use. I will add it to the video list, but the one I use the most is a weekly-to-do planner with sections for the different aspects of the job. Helps me sort out all the tasks and not feel overwhelmed at the start of a week!
thank you for your video, will your department provide you some money for your research at the beginning? or you will only get money from your successful grant?

Some departments will provide a small research fund or give you an allocated PhD (paid for) studentship - so you can start to build your research team. Others might not! Best to check the contract terms 😀
Hi Dr CST, very practical content as a new lecturer. I should watch it a few months ago. Is it too late to be a new lecturer from the industry when ppl is over 40. What do you think? Thanks
