The whole point was to prove that Paul was a sad excuse of writing material that he would try hard to prove his relevance. Spooderman dared him, which anyone with brains should recognize there's a setup going to happen. Paul was arrogant enough to fall for it. First two sentences were to goad his ego, that taking someone else's partner and doing stuff while the main attraction (Spider-Man) was away saving the world, made him a man. The third sentence was the entrapment, which he walked right into but he can't avoid it since he agreed to the dare. The last bit on spooderman's part was the icing on top. Bottom line: Paul is the joke.

Damn JJ is defending Spiderman 😂.

Kind of want to bring in Ultimate Peter from the comics and have everyone basically console him on how the writers screwed him over (looking at you Bendis) for diversity hire Spider-Man, Miles Morales. (Love Miles, but he used to basically be a stale personality and Bendis said he created Miles because he thought his adopted daughters wouldn’t look up Peter because he was white. Still cool we got a black Spider-Man though)
