Very nice. I just bought my friend's 95 for $1,500. She bought it new and has never really been off road. Her idea off off road is a dirt road. It has been in New Mexico its entire life and doesn't really even have surface rust up underneath it. Only issues are wear on the driver's side seat and some sun damage on the dash. She is selling it to me instead of trading it in on a newer truck. It's not in my garage yet but as soon as she buys her new truck she will drop it off at my house. I am very excited. I have known this truck ever since she bought it new and visited all her friends to show it off. lol I even did most of the maintenance on it up until about 10 years ago.

For $1500 that’s a steal. Sadly these trucks are going for $6k and up, even shitboxes go for $3k and up. Enjoy it brother.

@@jeffdeleon3567 The 95 does not have a straight front axle. They aren't going for as much as the older ones but yea, it's still a screaming good deal. lol I do know the front cv joints and bearings etc are good on it because I put new ones on a few years ago. The boxed frames are an issue on the 95s. They tend to rust out but this one was in the desert all its life and my friend never had it in the mud. lol She wasn't even to fond of driving in the rain. It's not the most desirable year but it's stunningly clean for 25 years old.

Awesome video! I just found one exactly like this one that’s all original with 133k miles, 22re 5 speed except mine doesn’t have the camper and it’s a 94. Previous owner was a second owner and claimed that it was never been off road. I can’t wait to Take it off roading for the first time once I change out all the fluid, do a slight lift and look for bigger tires. I’m from Hawaii and everyone here all have Toyota trucks. The older pickups and Tacomas are everywhere in this state.

I had a 92 4x4 with the 22R-E as well, but it was the extended cab version which came in handy. I bought it in '95 and kept it until '04 and it was my daily driver for 8 of those 9 years. It had over 200K on it when I sold it. I had to replace the rear differential in '99. It wasn't a show stopper and I drove it for a few months with it making a whining noise before replacing it. It didnt leak, it just wore out prematurely for unknown reasons. I was told back then that this is a very rare issue with these trucks. In '01 the radiator sprung a bad leaked and I replaced it that day. Also, the A/C compressor died that same year but I never replaced it. All in all it was a good rugged little truck and never left me stranded anywhere.

The gauges, cup holders, and hvac controls are identical to my 93 T100. Reminds me of the old truck 😂. Got a 5vz waiting for my T100 when the 3vz blows again. Hoping to buy an 84 straight axle soon with the 22r. Probably going to pull the engine and rebuild it at some point. The 5vz is definitely superior to the 3vz. Much agreed with the need to be mechanically inclined to own older yotas. They last if you fix them...

@@TravisTutorial You you know what i learned about Toyota's 40+ years driving, working on and really loving their design? ....... Only thing that kills them is 1) Road accidents/Intersection (they survive offroad wrecks, rollovers and bumps like a bruise) 2) Willful abusive-idiot drivers trying to break things... 3) Unchecked rust/seaside living// 4) Rodents making nests in the dash and engine bay and chewing the wiring 5) Maybe.... nuclear blast Please...Toyota... we beg you.. bring back the 1988 removable top 4 Runner again!!!!!!

As I understand, the ‘82-85 Toyota truck was basically a lightweight version of the Landcruiser. I read somewhere that the Landcruiser engineers assisted in the drive train design for those years. The front end had swivel hubs and leaf suspension. I don’t think they had factory lockers but I could be wrong about that. Starting in ‘86 Toyota, at least in North America, went to independent front suspension because the market wanted a smoother ride and less of a utilitarian work vehicle, too bad for tough off-roading.

yes, very. ive got a 1990 pickup. most auto shops carry what i need. Where i live there's a Japanese wrecking yard and they almost always have anything i need. And most 4runner parts are interchangeable. if you are looking into one id be looking for a clean frame and body. the manual tranny in these is extremely reliable. MIne has the 3.0 v6 3vze(not 3vz-fe that one was DOHC and in the camry), its not a bad engine its actually noninterference. They have head gasket problems but if its taken care of and maintained when its supposed to be you'll never have a problem, same goes to the 4 cylinder 22re and any toyota engine in that fact. My truck has 315k on the frame/body/ and transmission with no rust or problems. Biggest issue ive had is warn-out Steering, but like i said those parts are extremely easy to find and they're cheap. If you're looking into one of these bad boys i think you'll be happy with it, if power isn't what you're looking for. if it is the 22re has a ton of after market for the engine, and if you've got the v6 you can just swap it to the 3.4 5vz-fe, its pretty much as straight forward as engine swaps get(same motor mount locations, bolts right up to transmission etc). hope this helps!
