I was assuming a 7.3 before I clicked the video. No doubt after watching it’s a 460. Pass anything but a gas station but coming from someone who owned a 460 those are great trucks! Had a 97 and the body rusted off before the motor had 151k. I’m a die hard Chevy guy all day but man I miss my old 460. Great trucks all around. Make a great work horse

Cool video. My Grandad built a wrecker out of a 1991 f-350 du ally. He built it about 20 years ago, and it’s still kicking strong.

On Allison Automatic that I have run you put the transmission in gear with brake on, then shift your pto on, then auto to neutral to use pto stationary. You could also use pto in motion if it were, for example, a dump truck spreading. If Ford auto doesn't take a proper PTO then I guess I would add in a transfer case so I could have a heavy enough PTO box. Low range pretty handy also, if budget allows full 4x4.

Thats a really great looking Dually.......but being a dually, and not a commercial Chassis, that rear end is gonna be several inches wider, might look a bit awkward with all that tire sticking out both sides, even with wheel opening flares or some other kind of moulding, they will be noticeably wider back there......unless you have a plan already, cuz you're prolly doing something with the stock springs anyway so maybe your swapping in a commercial width rear axle? Hope you do a video series of the install, would be cool to watch that process!

Might sound funny but id put 4 inch chrome stacks on it , i have a friend that has an Eddie bauer edition same exact color he's wrecked it 3 times and its still going its just his work truck he has a a newer daily he drives but he uses the eddie truck in his oil field job , it never fails to go ide get your dad to add springs in back tho them dually,s had weak springs even if it was an air bag helper on the springs that way it will still ride decent without a car being towed ,, nice truck James ,,

doesnt run rusted out in a lot of spots and doesn't have backseats.

I could be wrong but I thought those F-350 pickups were 50" ca where the wrecker unit will be 60 " ?

That’s a clean OBS! Hopefully the stainless rocker trim isn’t hiding any rust/rot. Front bumper has the typical rust though, just like both of my 97’s. Is your 92 4 wheel drive, I wasn’t sure if that was a transfer case shifter I seen or a lanyard on your keys

@@bernlew977 7.5L sorry. Not 7.4L. 7.5L is Fords 460 ci Big Block. 7.3L was the diesel. This truck is not a diesel.

Those Fords are to light duty for a wrecker need a ram or GM .the front end won't hold alignment unladen and every transmission ford used was a grenade . E4od won't last two mountain tows.the 460 is a gas pig that won't last 50 k towing a load. I was a Ford tech when these trucks were new we pulled many wrecker and utility beds back of these trucks under dealer buy backs.
