I have the exb outcast first rc I've bought when I started my hobby addiction 2 months ago. So far I have 11 now and the only one I haven't worked on or replaced parts is the outcast. Buy the roller exb and put in your choice of electronics good to go. I have the tlr typhon, 2 vorteks, 2 mini bs, 3 scx24s and 2 wltoys China rc.

Earl its not so much the cars, its your explanation that we enjoy watching, listening to and learning from.

ARRMA EXB all day long. A basherqueen limitless would look real good on my shelf. BTW Earl the gold power hobby street tires hold up real good. Bashed them today. Remind me of silver hoons.

Another great vid and while the EXB is impressive I’m still going with the sledge. The stock sledge did everything the built EXB did and is way more controllable in the air. I feel a sledge with some upgrades will outperform the EXB in every way possible

The back to back really provides good insight. For an original release, the Sledge is impressive. Kraton is great but the early version of the EXB left me a little salty. Watching your older vids of the EXB… you have the patience of a saint Earl !!!

I really like the arrma 👍 when I am working and a customer is looking for a rc I go straight to the arrma's. I just prefer the spektrum system and the way arrma builds the rc's very durable 👍

Slayed that double backflip. I won’t ever buy a traxxas unless it’s a xmaxx. I’m a Tekno fanboy I’m 3 6s arrmas deep and regret all of em my mt410 preforms better in every way for me. Keep up the videos, love em!

Great series and bashing, Exb $350, max6 combo $205, servo $35, slt3 and sr315 receiver $30, metal diff case $30. Caught some good sales for a total of $650, Jenny’s is a go to as well...!!!

I just got the v5 kraton 6s i put the xo-1 castle system in it. You right Earl it is a beast and lipo is 35c very powerful

Earl great video keep up the great work brother. You should put a 16t pinion in the v4 with a better radio it will wake up a lot. Try a 16t in the sledge just to see the difference between them

Nice vid. I it said it before….I’m just not going to deal with weak diffs from Arma anymore. For bone stock….the Sledge is an excellent platform and is right there with the EXB which is about $1K after all the electronic upgrades. Speaks volumes about the research Traxxas did on the Sledge drawing board. Well designed and engineered. Looks like an all around winner 🤘

kraton is 470$ and needs only about 300-320$ worth of electronics . So it's cheaper than the Sledge that is 800$+

@@darkki94….factor in diff issues, tear down time, experimenting with different diff oil combinations to make it run right. That’s the reason it’s only $470. It’s a work in progress.

It’s cheaper but has a differential case issue and last I checked the Kraton ExB was over 500.00 now

Traxxas has had many years to gauge all other Truggies out there and should have been able to build the best and so far they have. One of the other manufacturers will come out with something as good if not better. Although not everyone is having the same luck as you, many Sledges have broken.

you mentioned the summit. when I have money I look for deals on used summit,s. I love the look of that truck..im.always looking for a deal on a good used one. have not found a deal yet. everyone always wants top dollar. I think there well loved like erevo. 👍

That spur gear shot kinda scared me with the sledge,looks like a Traxxas pot metal spur gear. I've had some problems with Traxxas spur gears,they seem to get chewed up pretty easily 🙃 Thanks for these videos earl!

I don’t have a v5 Kraton my ExB was a roller I have a V2 Kraton v4 Kraton and the roller ExB 👍

I just built a kraton exb with a castle 1717 - 1650 kv mostly will run on 6s sometimes I will try 8s but I’m not sure on my pinion size yet going to start at 18t can’t wait for the weather to get better

Like how you did a real test. And didn't break the sledge for the sake of a thumbnail or to be like everyone else on KZread

Balooning tires do help rotate the car . Maybe that’s what Traxxas was thinking when they designed it like that 🤷‍♂️

I blew two 1717 motors on my Mojave EXB. That Castle motor is not good for bashing. The 1650KV from HW is. Good decision. Good video as always bud 👍. BTW, my Max 6 with that same motor on my other Mojave EXB feels more responsive than the MMX8S

Youve definately put that Sledge through some running. Tough well designed RC and its proven it. Narrowed down my next purchase will be Traxxas...But Sledge or do i dish out the extra for an Xmaxx? Great run of videos on this one !

From what i keep hearing. Traxxas steel gears are not heat threated. Or at least unpropre heat threading. reason there gears has to be so big To be able to handle the power compared to a heat threated gear. Can also be a reason why their gears are unexpensive to buy. Maybe earl can do a little investigation?🤔. Teeth's shouldn't be snapping off. But it was a know thing with traxxas gears and once with arrma . A batch of untreated spur gears. If indeed they are unthreated then its a deceiving marketing once again. Just like how the 8s exb chassis of arrma are not 7075 t6 so far from what i have seen. More like 7075 t0

Your Kraton is a Monster! I'll take it over the Sledge. The Kraton sounds wicked and the sledge sounds like a Wltoys.... but I gotta give it to traxxas for making that thing super durable. Both are badass but I'm leaning toward the Kraton

I hate to bother you but I did not know another way to ask the question ... I want to gear up my Xmaxx just a little and im looking for a recommendation i don't want to use 46t speed spur I would like to use the 50t Spur but most people leave the stick 18t pinion .. do you have a recommendation to leave 18t or change it i don't want over heating issues any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated

If you pull the motor out it gives you recommendations gear sizes for the motor pin location look at all the 50 spur numbers and see the pinion size for it I run a 18/46 but a 20/50 might fit if there is a pin location for it

I'd have to pass on the sledge. And I've never had any issues with my EXB diffs, and I beat the crap out of it with a 1100 kv soda can motor/ 30 tooth pinion/39 tooth spur. And thanks for the video Earl.

Same for my kraton exb. I also have a notorious v5 with exb brace and exb diffs. I dont need more than that. I have little stuff here and there like 3D printed mounts and 1 set of m2c outdrives i believe. The esc is pretty underwhelming tho

All man have some drive skills. I keep my r c s on the ground I don't no how to jump yet so. I let them stY down. I haven't even ran my new kraton yet.8$. I don't want to break it

I’d say honestly the power delivery isn’t there for the Kraton. I’d like to see something done to enhance the air control for it. Ear plugged center fluid, Sledge tires on it and maybe a different esc and motor setup. I’d like to see it flip better than that even with a strong esc and motor setup😕

Locking the center diff stops rotating the rc by limiting the front tires from ballooning thinner center fluid will add front wheel speed off a jump 🤔

Its the tires. The sledge tires balloon twice as much. They are proline tires kind of soft.

@near sighted time traveler i can do backflips pretty easily. Blx 185 2050kv motor on 14T. Front flips thats is a gamble lel. Good air correction if things go wrong

What battery have you in the sledge? Are those ec5 connectors?

I'm liking the sledge platform Earl, but remember when the first e Revo came out then the 2.0 then the latest 2.0 they fixed all the problems? That's what I will wait for. Now arrma needs and will soon I'm step up their game with better diffs and a revised kraton exb I'm sure of it. The kraton has done it's duty and now Traxxas has the hill. So I will sit here drink my tea while arrma gets their poop in a group and come out with a banger! Till then I'm waiting for a xmaxx refresh and I bet it's going to be sledge looking and performance to compete with the outcast and kraton 1/5 exb. A Traxxas roller would be sick in 1/5 Earl! Well now for the serious conversation I respect the sledge, for what it is no it is certainly not a copy, but at same time it just seems sluggish for my taste and thanks to this video u have proven my point. Traxxas is like proprietary say apple, they build a good platform and mean it to stay that way, unless u go way outside the box or put even more money into it sledge only I'm talking, there's no room to put usual after market hop ups, you have to buy what fits in the space given, can't change that, now u can get creative and flip things around to get more space, but then you might unbalance it and really get a handling problem remains to be seen for me, but in the other hand kraton gives u more space to let that platform grow with you, all in. The factory layout, now, let's call arrma android in this scenario, it's open and much more friendly to 3xpand and grow on. I think u said something to the affect that the sledge is true ready to run, but is it? Like all other rtr, there is the ever growing check list, if u can't change ur esc, motor, receiver, things of that nature and more, then you don't need a large rc, not trying to be bad mouthing, this is proven fact, if u can't work on it most people will sell it or shelf it, but let's say ur rich and u take it to the hobby store and say yep I broke it. They are going to tag it and store it till they want to look at it, so u have to pay storage fee, service fee, and sometimes hidden feed, then parts fees, on a 6s rig usually around 15 to 20 or more and then u don't always get the old parts and left over unused parts that had to be ordered because so much now comes in a small kit form instead of just a part not all but more than it used to be, mind u I first got into the hobby when you walked in and hunted through rows of parts for what u wanted stock parts even if it was a Well known brand, Traxxas just put the slash out ok I'm old lol 😆, But now seems more and more parts come in kits and pirces go up, so if u r willing to pay all that, there is a factor that is still a big downer, the time, the shop might not look at it for weeks, that's a huge bummer at 400, 600, 700, 800, 900, and so on that u pay for these things, There is no true rtr, never was, rtr just means u don't build the thing from scratch but u still disassemble and check, fill, screw, nut, and bolt what u have to, and if u can't do that on a big 6s power system and drive line u need to start on a lower level of rc a 2 wheel drive or something, christ u can hurt someone or urself if something should fail, like a steering servo, not smart these things don't bounce off you, they can break bones. I want everyone in this hobby I can get into it, but I want to see smiles for miles, not ambulance lights, or cop lights, the right rc in the right hands at the right skill level, ok ok I've blabbed on long enough I think you ment to say it's a ready to run for those that have the money, time and know how and skills to properly own this vehicle, and for those that don't want to upgrade it, I can see it being a great rc, but me personally I already enjoy many 6s vehicles and looking for rigs that grow with me dot sit on a shelf at 800 or more dollars I just can't justify to myself and I think alot more people are of that mind set because price is what it is. But it seems like a brick of an rc tough!!!!

Traxxas did it with the xmaxx as well and the Erevo so many had to build aftermarket parts to modify them I’m sure someone will soon on the sledge but until then arrma has tons of support 💯💯

I have a very good job as I’m a single father raising three kids on my own rc was what I turned to when the kids where younger now there turning into teens so they don’t play as much but I still do this is over years as I don’t sell anything 👍👍

After owning the Kraton I am really disappointed in it....handles like crap and always on its roof. I might try the Sledge.

Kraton tires don't balloon as bad as the Sledge but it fly"s better in the air. I would say where I dont leave anything stock I would rather have the Kraton. Sledge is just too expensive here in Canada. Maybe if i owned all the other Rc's already but probably not if i had an xmaxx.

Imo its the tires who make the sledge so controlable. Those cut outs on the center diff of the sledge might be to trow out the rocks if they want to get stuck under there. I have seen arrma center diff get heavily scuffed by a rock

@@earlmoorhead5555 its pretty rare to get a stone get stuck there. And its a partial cage the center diff isnt completely sealed up from the elements. The 3s motor module arrma claims go be sealed. Theres a familly of rocks who start to live there
