NEW TOYOTA SUPRA (The Best Supra Yet?)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The legendary Toyota Supra returns, but can this new Supra live up to its name? Is this BMW engineered Supra worth the money? It's been a 20 year wait, and times have changed since the much-loved 4th generation Supra was pulled from the market. Has Toyota brought us a car worthy of the name, or is the new Supra nothing more than a BMW Z4 in fancy new clothes?
Today, we take a look at the return of a legend, the 2020 Toyota Supra.

Good work on the review of the car and retrospective of the model line - especially your design commentary. I saw a yellow one like this (heavily modded by Team Hybrid) at SPOCOM Anaheim last year, and I agree regarding the interior and driver interface. The 2nd-gen model is my sentimental favorite.

Very cool, indeed. I studied architecture and engineering in school. I entered the automotive business straight out of school, since I couldn't afford to attend the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. I spent an exciting and very rewarding 16 years in the automotive business, before moving into tech during the Dotcom boom, and then real estate where I've been since. Real estate has afforded me the opportunity to enjoy automobiles on my terms, while still being involved in ways such as competitive racing (GTS2) and instructing on track. This channel is also something I am fortunate to be able to do out of passion, rather than a need for income. I appreciate you watching, subscribing and sharing your thoughts! Thank you!

I agree 100%. Colors are a very inexpensive way to dress things up. It would be so easy to make the interior as exciting as the exterior! We can only hope Toyota is able to sell enough to justify the effort. Thank you for watching, and for your comments!

Nice but definitely would want a manual. Also raised door cut line for better ingress/egress would be welcome for tall drivers. How was the turn in and cornering stability? Looking forward to your review of the new "Z" coming out.

Thank you for your comments! Although I race competitively and instruct on track, there are plenty of journalists that slide these cars for video. My goal is to review these cars in a context that relates to how a typical enthusiast owner would actually use them, so I’ll leave the slides to Chris Harris! As I mentioned in the video, I did spend time in the Supra on track and it was very impressive. But BMW has always done a good job with its chassis. Yes, the new Z looks very promising! Thanks so much for watching!

@@GTSCarLife To be clear, I am not an advocate of drifting on the street. With the LX, I did not slide/drift it around corners. That is why I said mini-slide. I guess I was trying to say that the best and most "set" way to attack a corner was to balance the car in the corners to be on the oversteer side of neutral. I am not an advocate of "stupid" or testosterone fueled driving in public. I always made sure I knew the road, my car's ability and kept it maybe closer to the edge but under control. I just enjoyed the fun of it.

Thank you for watching the Supra review! There are many print and KZread automotive reviewers, some, like Chris Harris feature hard core track tests, and others delve into stats and mechanical features. I wanted this channel to reflect what it actually feels like to drive, typically as daily drivers, some of the most exciting cars most people will ever own. I want to share what is actually feels like to live with these cars, on a daily basis. Spending as much time as I do at the track, I see a lot of GR86 models. In fact, I was fortunate enough to ride in a Toyota GR Yaris a year ago, on track at Circuit of The Americas in Austin. The owner had driven the car through the night, from Mexico, to attend a track day I was instructing at. let me tell you, that things was ridiculous! The sheer performance and handling abilities of that car far exceeded anything its looks promised! Anyway, the GR86 is a car I really like. It reminds me of the 944 and Miata, a simple and well balanced sports car that allows drivers to really develop their talents, with a lower risk of getting in over heir heads. If a GR86 appeals to you, I would say go for it! I'm sure you will enjoy, and grow with the car. Thanks for watching and for your question!

@@davidhorne2326 IMO I think you'd be more happier with the C7. It has more of a personality especially if you prefer a manual transmission. The GR Supra is a good car but it can get boring. I use to have a 2013 Boss 302 and that car is more fun than the Supra IMO. My other car, a Camaro zl1 1le, is way more fun and interesting than the Supra, even under normal driving conditions. But I got the Supra to use as my daily. It's decent on gas, comfy, and not as interesting after a short while. Just my opinion.
