Problem is the GR’s have other type drivetrains. Supera has a BMW engine and transmission. The 86 has a Subaru engine and transmission. So the Celica GT can bridge gaps. Have an EV and also either a 1.6t or 2.5 NA Toyota developed four cyl. With a DCT wet clutch 6-7 speed and include a 6spd manual. From experience tho if you want a faster car choose the DCT in whatever speed.

Most people don't want EV, give the consumer what they want, then your bottom line will turn around. Beautiful Dealerships with used vehicles for sale are not appealing, nor is it worth visiting. The door of science swings both ways, suggest companies build practical appeal, rather than expensive less appeal auto's. Load dealerships with cars, and watch what happens, it's not political, but it is common sense, that used to make sense.

The problem with the 7th generation is people couldn’t get used to the looks for the vehicle. The 2ZZ engine had potential but sadly Toyota didn’t use it much (other than the Celica GTS, Matrix and Corolla XRS). Still the 7th gen has issues aside from the looks, like blind spots and performance was that great for the price point. The 6th suffered from NO all-trac turbo model (USDM) basically making it a sporty looking coupe (NOT a sports car). The 4th and 5th gen at least had the All-Trac turbo (3S-GTE) for the US model, however during those generations, Honda was the more popular choice by tuners due to pricing and bigger aftermarket support. The 3rd gen and it’s predecessors came as RWD which is what Toyota should’ve continued with. But as far as aftermarket support, there isn’t much. It sad really cause other than the last body style, I personally think the celiacs were very stylish designs, too bad the performance didn’t like up to the looks. Electric or not, hopefully Toyota will come up with a fun to drive vehicle which will allow for the aftermarket to tune these cars.

The Gen 7 was designed as a Sports Coupe, so considering that, price/performance (especially handling) was on point for that type of car (the 190BHP model anyway). Styling wise, it has to be up there with one of the best looking car styling even to this day with the full official Toyota body kit.

Blind spots? Dude my 01' GT-S and 88' Supra have better visibility than any new car pretty much. Sure it's not a 4-door glass box, but new cars are much worse for visibility because of higher doors and generally more cramped. 2ZZ was actually used in a ton of models, but obviously Celica (and Lotus) are the most well known. It's an insane engine for the money that will not be done again. I welcome the Celica back, but It will not be the affordable fun and light car it was before.

Will it compete with the Civic Si and will they replace the GR Supra with a MR2? Other sources suggest that the Supra is here to stay while stricter regulations have rumored the new Supra to be a hybrid sports car. Celica might not be a viable option since Toyota sells two sporty vehicles achievable to anyone (accounting without dealership markup), which are the GR Corolla and 86, that competes with the Civic Si, WRX and other cars in the similar price range. I believe that the Celica badge name will become a trim level instead of being itself a model, similar to the Celica Supra trim level. GR Corolla Celica would be a good option considering the rally heritage that Celica has. Overall, I wish to not tarnish the name of the Celica.

Toyota is like a restaurant where the food is not as good as it used to be. We traded in 2019 Camry for our beloved 2020 Tesla.

As a TC owner I would recommend an AWD, turbocharged, 2.5liter. Give it 310-330hp and don’t make the interior too cheap. That would be amazing 💯

My idea would be to develop it on a thoroughly refreshed and lighter GR Corolla platform, because it's around the same size as the 4th, 5th and 6th gen Celicas. At least, the wheelbase is, which is a good thing to have in most cases. Basically, a FWD/4WD Coupe with 320 hp and good rally capabilities.

@@mozeskertesz6398 the Scion TC is a Celica though. I love my car and with it being a 2015 the styling is perfect and so is the size. Just needs more power and better steering capabilities.

I'm not a fan of the potential electric aspect due to the lack of tuning opportunities, but if they do it, it has to be solid Stat battery. But I would rather make it a bigger yet nibble awd car then the corolla or yaris, with a 4 cylinder turbo engin.

a new age version similar to how many of us remembered the Fiat and later Bertone X1/9 type of MR2 is needed.usable storage spots for oddments and other things dual boots and mid engine design. Many would be buyers remembered the last of them and as much as we wanted one it's uselessness sent one off to Renault or Peugeot for a Megane or 206cc or even Holden(For the Australians who cross shopped all the affordable convertibles)for an Astra convertible with a sometimes back seat.
