Ive seen some effective item stack builds with Than, but the trick is early game you have to gank kills & above all else "Not Die Evar" for level ramp. Very effective in Conquest, less effective in the shorter time modes.

Xirce If you are getting all the items for the one skin then yes that is dumb, however there are tons of nice skins in the Odyssey items as well you get a chest for each purchase which gives another item, don't get me wrong it is pricy but if you play the game all the time like me, 100 dollars is much less than a dollar per hour of fun, that is a price I am fine with.

I can see where you're coming from, but think off all the other free rewards. SWC Loading Card = 300 probably Announcer Pack = around 600 Agni Skin = 600 SWC Icon = 400 SWC Pedestal = probably 300-400 Thanatos Skin = easily 1000+ 21 Chests, and each of these chests give something equal or more the worth of the chest That's about an extra 7500 gems worth of free stuff, if you invest in the entire odyssey. That's about $204 Canadian Dollars (I live in Canada). You're basically getting twice the value, which in my eyes, is worth it.

I don't know why people are complaining, yes this skin is technically if your being ignorant is worth 8000 gems, but this is the most complex skin they have made and it is one of the best looking. Also you get all the other Odyssey items and the free ones you get along the way. It's just a skin they aren't forcing you to buy it and there will be a thanatos skin in the future. Since I have been buying most of the Odyssey items (because they are high quality) I will be completing it and claiming that skin. Yes it is a waste of money but considering I have played the game for thousands of hours I think it was worth the money for what I got from this game.

the problem is the oddessy is filled with wards, icons(which lots of people do not care about) and lots of the skins are for gods we don't play. now how would you feel if thanatos was your favorite god and to get the skin, you would need to spend basically 100 dollars on other crap you don't want, need or might never ever use.i mean the hebo skin is just a recolor, the fenrir skin is just adding a hat with an monocle, the scyalla is also another bs skin, that's shady buisness.. buy all this crap to get a good thing. then not everyone s the the position to buy this. as a college student, dropping 100 bucks on a game isn't in my best interest. its basically pandering to the rich or people who have more fluid resources and ignoring the rest of its fanbase...which is shady

Let me explain this to you. I'm willing to bet that half the people who are mad bought the Ultimate God pack (which is not a bad deal I find) which is $30 USD. So asking them to pay an additional $195 on top of that in micro-transactions is a bit low. Even without the God pack, even if the game is free that is a lot of money to spend on a video game. My math is based on a gem total of 10300 (assuming the next three skins are 600 with the 200 gem ward) and I'm going off of people buying 13 of the 800 gem packs.

I feel like limited skins should become available in some way at some point for a very limited time. Maybe like you could only buy this skin on the day of the finals at the SWC at 1 am for like 1000 gems. Just saying, the fact that they're 100% unobtainable today really makes me feel like you guys shouldn't be so "lock and key' with limited skins. Maybe do that and change they're names from limited to special. Please?

Although I'd like to agree with you I'm gunna have to say no I don't think they should. I started smite in March 2015 and have kept playing it since. I love it and I'd happily take an Archon Thanatos skin but I just guess we were too late. It's tough luck is all I can say. It won't suprise me though if they did make it available again but only for limited time and a special occasion

Menace I actually went and blew about 1000 gems buying the wards for Odessey yesterday. Of the 5 chests I used, I got one reroll. Sadly they were all ward skins and my reroll was a Chang'e voice pack.

Wish they made T5 skins like this again. Not just multiple skins together. T5 skins in my opinion should build upon the base look over time to an amazing final form. Archon Thanatos, Godslayer Ares, and the Stellar Demise Baron Samedi are what come to mind. The new Hades T5 is similar but doesn't have as many forms and due to that feels a bit underwhelming since its such a dramatic instant change instead of a gradual four form change to show the passing of time. Would have been cool if he had a wing pop out during one of his forms, his robe starting to tear and he starts hunching forwards because he's changing. The voice changing to emphasize him letting lose the monster inside. To me it feels like a Cu Chulainn skin. For example, Godlsayer Ares wouldn't be as amazing if the corruption took him immediately. You get to see the changes to his appearance as well as getting to hear him losing the fight for control. The appearance in his abilities also slightly change depending on how corrupted he is up until he's fully lost control for that unbelievable fourth form where he lifts off the ground and starts to hover around the map with an insane visual change to the appearance of himself and his abilities. The ultimate also gets a completely new animation to give it that extra jaw dropping "This is a T5 Skin" feeling. Frostfire Ullr could've had more visual progression as well. For example; they could've made the embers start forming on the fire form, and had him start to freeze over on the ice form. Even the weapons could have the look of being frozen over or starting to burn. Also, the way that the Divine Dragon Bellona one works. You barely get to see the different forms of the skin since it changes with the abilities cast. So you're mainly just seeing the effects of transforming and the abilities effects during a fight but when you're done doing your combo you see a cool skin at the end but only for a moment because you revert back to your default skin and that is kinda lame in my opinion. TLDR: Skins should gradually change over 4 forms, that build upon itself for an amazing final form instead of a drastic change in multiple skins or just one form change. Also, multiple, differently themed, skins put into "one" that change with abilities aren't as cool since there's no "progression" in the way the skins looks visual wise or the way the abilities change over time. They're always the same the whole game.

Hands down one of the best looking skins in Smite - its shame the voice is pretty bad...atleast its not Pixel Buster Freya bad where you might as well just mute the voice

this isn't the final voice, they said it on the patch notes, but they needed something to put in the video so I guess they included and i sure hope that they don't use any more voice modifiers to get his final voice.

Hi rez you could create a new skin Thanatos, Archon Style Example: fallen angel with halo in purple purple wings flames and black but more gloomy the investments in flames, it would be a good, more limited skin Thanatos, was reached this odyssey they were going to bill a lot of money, I hope that the archon skin back, or create a new one.

Minigun101 you do realize that you don't need to buy anything ever in this game, and yet you'll still be able to play. Mind-blowing isn't it? Besides, with all the free gem stuff that Hirez does you can get like half the odyssey free. For example, I've never bought gems, only the god pack and yet I have gotten 8 odyssey items, and I haven't even gotten the most gems possible. Btw this was a bitch to type on phone xD.

This skin is actually pretty awesome, For some reason it gives me the "Imperius" vibe, "Purging the world of darkness and corruption, and cleanse it of its evil!" Wish there was a wallpaper of this! XD

Don't you just love when you have a bad game with Thana while using this skins and people get salty about you having it and sucking? No? Just me?

I've created a time machine to travel back in time to purchase this skin, but sadly I ended up in the 1940's 😓

I feel like a much better way to handle this skin would be to make it have a high gem cost like 1000-2000 and have all or most proceeds go the the tournament. I personally feel like that way would still benefit the tournament and get more people to buy the skin and make the community happier in general.

This skin is so awesome. I like how they made a Cherubim skin for Thanatos.

I don't understand any of these complaints. Wahhhh I want the thanatos skin but i dont want the others... well too bad? The idea behind this skin is as a reward for those who have been dedicated enough to follow through with the Odyssey event. It's a trophy more than anything else. It probably wouldn't exist to begin with had it not been thought up of as a reward. I think it's fantastic that they're rewarding dedicated players with something unique. Add more value to the skin, what good would a trophy reward be for attaining all Odyssey items, if anyone could just get it? You've already gotten an amazing free full game, with plenty of detail, passion and creativity, and plenty of OPTIONAL cosmetic purchases for those who want them. And to all those whining, I hear there's new fantastic skin for Cabrakan, that sounds extremely appropriate for most of you.

Nah people are more likely pisses cuz there is no possible way to buy all the stuff without real money. Though Smite gives enough free stuff than any other MOBA but it as well needs some money or won't be a game soon... So yeah people kinda need to accept that fact

Look at Dota 2 - last year thay had around 4million players if im not mistaken this year the game is launching a new improved version of itself and player base has grown to over 6million as well as more and more hats/skins being released - dota is also free to play with detail and art dedication etc One of ( and im not saying its the only) but one of the reasons dota has been able to thrive into better and better development and remain free to play is because of Hats and skins- its people who invest money into these aspects that support the development of the games future and keep its Free to play for the rest- when ppl like me who collect hats and skins etc ( i dont think im in a small minority here as its an avid hobby for most moba players ) instantly get "salty" when we see NEVER AVAILABLE AGAIN - to an extent - their are many items in dota 2 never available to purchase in game i.e dragon claw hook - but then again they have a steam market so its still technically available anytime all year around if the price is right - doesn't make the item any less valuable or rare to the and making an item available DOES increase its rarity ( i guy spent $38000 on a courier ) still available if he wishes to sell it - my point is this practice turns away a % of new potential customers from the game especially collectors and collectors have deep pockets - not saying HiRez should cater there entire business model to the 2% (example 2%) however they are still a % of your customer base who support your game and should be heard rather than say "tough tits " because that 2% grows slowly but surely when these types of policy's are in place - I get that this was an incentive to promote the event last year however it massively deters people like me from even contemplating buying 1 skin in the store never mind thinking about supporting the next odessy event upcoming or its names equivalent. Trust me if they made this item available for even 1 day of the year each year and put a price tag of astronomical value People would still buy it and those already with it would feel either A) well at-least i never payed that ridiculous price for mine or B) I got mine for free during the event glad i didn't have to pay that price. example B mainly derives from some posts on forums ive read with ppl saying The Archon skin was a bonus for completing the achievement of collecting all the items it never was actually an available purchase. trust me this business model works - just look at Halloween Set ? Ppl wait a full year for that to be made available. smite does not have the luxary of having a market place like steam or Dota 2 Lounge as items are not trade-able therefore they should consider the feedback of the community on this seriously- in this year alone ive seen 1 very good example of when a developer of a game says the word "NEVER" how badly it can backfire just google WoW NO more flying in WoW makes for some interesting reads /videos and shows the companies attempt at damage control not to mention the back peddling and listening to the community and they put forward a solution to appease both sides of their player base. wow has a huge player base so a reaction of feedback is heard pretty loud and pretty damn fast Smite however is still a growing game and the larger the community gets the more apparent and more pissed people will get when they join the game - it even deters ppl like me from bothering to start up a collection. And before anyone rages " Get over it " or "why your not going to play an amazing game over 1 skin" basically ..yes because i dont play games to become pro i play games to chill out relax and enjoy and above all my hobby is to collect so having a policy like this directly collides with what would effect m personal enjoyment of the game and that's my choice doesn't effect you or me really for that matter as my funds will go into Dota2 or hots etc but what it does effect is feedback falling of deph ears and the loss of a customer and hundreds of dollars - not a big deal really but apply this to 10 ppl/ collectors like me and that's 10 lost customers and thousands of dollars - compare it to 100 ppl (which is not really a long stretch ) its equates the thousands upon thousands of dollars - this is basically a ripple effect which brings me to my opening comment about dota 2 and the success its having do to the HAt buying community - myself or those 10 people or those 100 people or even those 1000 people have funds ready to spend to collect and enjoy that will support and DEVELOP the game faster and faster is the point - i know its oh your a pebble in the ocean - but enough pebbles and its soon a puddle on a mountain so to speak

This skin is really amazing maybe the best skin that ive seen in a lot of time

His final form reminds me of Frollo from Disney's Hunchback movie.

It would be actually cool if they make a 5-8k gem related event with alternative colour scheme for this skin and some minor rewards, something like morrigan event. This would be fair for early supporters of the game, cuz initial skin would stay unique in a way and the same price will be paid for this one by those who want it. And giving opportunity for console players and late dudes like me to support the game and get it! JUST DO IT HI-REZ!

I'm quite confused about Hi-Rez being greedy. Hi-Rez got to be one of the most generous companies seeing as they only have F2P games. 2 of them ended up losing them $20k not sure if it was each, or combined. Yet they have at least 1 event each month giving you free currency. This skin was a community voted skin. If you're angry about it being a thanatos skin then you should blame the community for voting on it. Either way they already stated it would be a reward for getting all the items when they put it up for vote. Now them giving 1/3 of the money of the odyssey items into a prize pool for the tournament + giving away a 200gem chest which gives you ingame items worth more than 200gems seems pretty generous to me. They are giving ontop of giving, ontop of giving. I bet alot of that prize pool money came in through them giving away free gems. so they give away money by giving away gems. sure doesn't sound money greedy to me. (Now I'm not going to deny It's probably a marketing strategy, but you can't deny they are giving away a lot of shit as well)

hi-rez isn't greedy, through promotions and such, ive gotten many ward skins, vps, and a few skins without spending anything. LOL- i got like one or 2 skins, rest i had to pay like 20 dollars for like 3-4 skins....

I don't want to get all descriptive about one little thing buuuuut, is it possible to make the ulti a little more holier? The grey and the skull makes it look like the opposite of what the skin intends.

The voice pack for this thanatos skin sounds amazing plus this isn't my final form phrase is amazing

Let's look at your examination: 200 a month, let's say the odyssey for 10, hell, we'll say it's been going on a year, that's 2400 gems, you need 6400 MORE TO GET THE SKIN. Not accounting for the gods you DON'T own that are in the Odyssey, you really need 138, 30 to drop on the god bundle, and the 108 to drop on the gems.

Brock Samson I was only pointing out that Hi-Rez is giving their paid currency out for free. With 4 months of odyssey with gem events, you're looking at nearly 2,000 gems for free. That means you need to buy at 6,700 gems to get everything. Businesses don't run on free, they run on profit. Even at $138 that is nothing over the course of a few months. Sure, buying it all in bulk might be a hefty fee, but they even had a sale recently that for less than $100 you'd have more than enough to buy everything in bulk. You may value your entertainment differently, but I do it by hours of entertainment to money spent. I have over 1,000 hours played over the course of a year and have spent around $300 in that time. That's over 3 hours of entertainment for every $1 spent. Movies cost around $15 for the usual 2 hours, but I can't just go back and watch it again. Most games, even the big RPG's like Skyrim/Fallout/Mass Effect (which I love) usually offer me around 50-80 hours a piece for $60, plus the cost of expansions and DLC which brings the cost close to $100.

I wish all the gods in smite has this evolution change when they level up, like they have a different appearance Level 1 , 10 and 20.

Years later we still want that skin...

The whole "Ripping off the people who unlocked all the goals to get it" thing would be moot at that point. So yes, they could and should bring it back again. If anything, they can just make another crap load of money off of it. I see no reason not to.

The Smite championship starts on the 9th of January, correct? So does the odyssey end the day before or the same day or the day after? I'm going to buy the odyssey items on the very last day available because I assume they will have a sale on all of them. Seeing how they want the biggest prize pool possible, a sale would be a smart move.

Thankfully I don't give much two shits about skins and how i look in game. It saves me from raging and spending shitloads of money on this Odyssey bullshit.

I feel that Death Scythe's debuff is a lot more noticeable with this skin. With the old skin it just kind of darkens the enemy's shadow, here it practically illuminates the enemy with a yellow glow.

this is pretty shady on hi rez's part. fill the oddessy with crap and then put a rare skin at the end you can only get if you buy everything. seriously, everyone doesn't have around 100 dollars to drop on a game. college is expensive, i dont play half of those gods and the only some are worth getting. pixel buster freya is a get, rune exe merc, ghost buster zhong and possibly trophy hunter kali are the actually good ones. fenrir just has a hat and hebo is nothing but a recolor. its one thing to place a skin for a limited time and then take it away forever, its a whole different story to lace the skin behind a pay wall of crap

Well...trophy hunter Kali is just a mask stuck on her face and a recolor...how is that more worth getting than Fenrir with a top hat and He-Bo with fancy particle effects? They didn't stick this skin as the last item for the Odyssey because they just wanna drain you dry. They did it to reward people who supported the E-sports scene. Sure, you can claim that those two are one in the same, but that would just be an argument of cynicism vs optimism. If you think that the purpose of the odyssey is to get this skin, the whole purpose of it just flew right over your head. Put an awesome skin at the end...people complain because they want it. Put a shitty skin at the end, less people support e-sports and the ones who do might feel under appreciated. You have to have something really fancy at the end, people need that "carrot", Everybody has known from the beginning that there was going to be something super awesome at the end of the odyssey, and nobody was complaining about it then, everybody thought it was a good idea. Once people see it though, they get greedy and just get in that "WANT IT NEED IT!" mentality and complain about not having it. You knew how to get it from the very beginning, you just chose not to go for it. To make it where you can just directly purchase this skin without going through the odyssey would spit in the face of all of their customers and would bring upon a PR nightmare that could very well threaten the future of Smite. This is because releasing the skin as a standalone purchase at this point would be the very definition of money grubbing scumbag tactics. "Hey guys, we know we said you had to buy everything to get this skin...we lied, just pay us $15 and you can have it." TL:DR - This skin is a reward for supporting e-sports by buying all odyssey items, not something they deliberately locked behind a pay wall, even though those two might seem like the exact same thing they are completely different due to intent and purpose. To release the skin as a standalone purchase would be the most money grubbing, backstabbing thing Hi-Rez could do and would threaten the future of Smite and Hi-Rez because of poor business ethics and a PR shitstorm.

Panda is really easy to get. The chest which contains it costs only 200 gems. Save up and you'll eventually get it.
