So they had to pass a bill because dealing with the lazy,slow,incompetent state and city took to long to make something happen!?!?! It literally should be 2 or 3 emails which should take a day or 2 tops to get temporary speed limits but would take a MONTH!! What a joke!!

So, just obey the law, and drive FRIENDLY! We used to have a commercial that said, "Slow down and live. And let live". I think we need to bring it back.

Speed traps are still illegal

State troopers will use them as speed traps along with the speed limits lowered by the Austin City Council. The new 40 mph on Lamar north of Braker is ridiculous and they didn't even label the signs as being a new speed limit like other areas. It was dangerous before since people were going 80 mph with no fear of being pulled over until the state troopers arrived.

Go read Texas Transportation Code 201.904. That's who speed signs apply to.

Ya more of a reason to get stopped since construction zones are double the fine when it’s up and posted and not even one working on it for months 😒

Just put a cop on the highway who's driving the speed limit and see what happens!

Kinda like the New Mexico Govenor who just banned all gun carry in the State then answered a question if she though it would stop bad people from carrying illegal guns and she said no. Dohhhhh!

So if you get a ticket then how will the city show proof if speed limits are constantly changing??? It would be more difficult to prove if you show up to court and go in front of the judge. So, i advise anyone that does get pulled over to go into the court room because the likelihood of that officer showing up AND being able to recount the situation is extremely low. I’ve gotten out of every large city ticket because the cops never show. They don’t have the time for it.

Well, that was purely confusing. I guess we'll have to call Texas.. DOT for clarification.

As a retired LEO, I will tell you that this will go over like a lead balloon! Officers dont have the time, or inclination to cite for constantly changing speed limits when they could always enforce traffic laws that are constant. Txdot has become so lazy, in my opinion, that they refuse to replace/repair traffic lights in smaller towns ( I wont mention Kerrville's name) because we are nothing but a "podunk town" ( this according to an actual retired txdot worker himself!) So why should we take their word for anything, or respect their "rules"?

Common sense to me. Kinda dumb if it took a month for na approval for a speed reductions sign for a snowstorm.

Instead of passing these useless laws, please do something about left lane camping on the Interstate or SH.

More reasons for cops to give tickets. Texas has to line this city coffers

@@killerspyder1 That's what people do on the 130 toll road. Speed limit is 80, people drive 90-95. Give an inch, they'll take a mile. And then complain if they get a ticket because "everybody else was speeding"!

I think night speed limits should make a comeback in Texas, but this time, only to apply on two lane roads and undivided roads where the speed limit is currently 70 or 75 mph, revert to 65 mph nighttime, lower all 75 mph roads back to 70 mph so both cars & trucks can go that speed, 70/night: 65 for safety's sake. nobody should drive faster than 65 at night on a two lane road, it's fast enough. Just like in Montana. Keep interstates and other divided highways at the current 75 or 80.

Montana still does 70 n:65 and now truck: 65 on non-interstates.

Its not going to stop idiot drivers who arent going to slow down regardless of the speed limit. It happens ALL the time.
