I know people will hate on me for being negative, but what kind of fan he is? I mean everyone is allowed to be whatever fan they want, thats fine. But man, as a life long DC fan and SUperman fan, I will say... Clark Kent IS SUPERMAN. Thats by far the most important important of his alter egos, thats what makes him who SUperman is. Any broken bullshiter can have superpowers, that doesnt fucking make you Superman. But Joe apparantly finds that cringe and seem to care about action sequences most, well, now I understand why Joe loved Man of Steel, that spit in a face to fans like me, like Linkara, like Blockbuster buster, like last angry geek, we were insulted. HYpocritical BS broken ass character, but he was played by good looking guy who looks awesome in a CGI fight, so lets make a cult around him... Guy Kills Zod, kills hundreds of thousands of people because of his reluctance. Does that get explored like promised? No... we suppose to forget that happened, he now just kills people, goes for straight up kill on Doomsday, something SUPERMAN would NEVER DO! DCEU garabage pretender did, but real Superman didnt. Then they decapitate Steppenwolf right in front os SUps and Bats, and they are like - F yeah.... For god sake, stop telling to my face they wasted potential with DCEU. DCEU never had potential, they never had Superman, just a pretender garbage. GOod guy Henry Cavill, not a very good actor, keep being stuck in terribly adapted materials... Keep failing upwards in Hollywood tho.

Also, remember how much chemistry testing they've been doing with the 3 potential Superman and Lois actors. They've been at it for weeks, maybe months trying to find the right two actors with the right chemistry to fill the roles. The Superman/Lois relationship can make or break a Superman film. With the amount of screen testing these two have done and with James Gunn making the decisions, I think we're in for a great film. Hopefully a great series of films and a great DCU in general.

The fact that James mentions many times, the Donner/Reeves superman as one of his top 5 favorite comic movies of all time, along with his note of how the Reeves Superman always had that wry smile when helping people out giving the sense that he really loved what he did, gives me a lot of hope for this movie.

ironically its one sign of stagnation. just like he has said for a decade that he is done with madden and for half a decade the same about battlefield. yet everytime madden or battlefield comes he will cover them day one and drop all the other stuff. ea churns out madden, joe churns out madden content. the superman thing is not far behind. yea people are interested in what they are but letting go certainly doesnt seem to be a forte

The fact that he looks so much like Henry Cavill kind of opens the possibility of Henry showing up in future movies as older Superman and it being fairly believable.

You know Gunn did mention about working with Cavill again down the line, but everyone was too busy losing their sh*t over his departure.

I'd love to see an early super man, gives them somewhere to build too. Especially if it's meant to kick off a universe for a new generation

Rachel Broshanan is a genius actress. Her work on Mrs. Maisel is nothing short of fantastic.

I think with this actor resembling Henry Cavill will hopefully open a door for an appearance of Cavill down the road. Maybe a Kingdom Come role or a possible time jump or something. I'll give it a chance for now. To me I just want to see the world Gunn builds. He should try not to rush or mash things together. He should build a world over time like Marvel did. Allow each character to breath and develop a following. (P.S. I don't hold out much hope. But we'll see.)

Gunn with guardians 1 was fantastic 2 was lame and i havent even bothered with the 3rd The suicide squad movie he directed didnt do it for me either i hope we dont get a stupid try to be funny superman .. (different directors i know ) like the Thor movies we got serious Thor for 2 movies the 3rd was that perfect balance of comedy and seriousness and Love and Thunder destroyed the whole character.. For the first time in a long time I feel hopeful for DCU. This guy totally seem sweet and like a young man who will fly around and save every day people. I love Cavill but Doomsday so early on? Every iteration of Superman in film or TV has started with the same origin story OVER AND OVER. That's why he believed keeping Henry where he is now and go immediately to have him counter threats bigger than Metropolis opens more room fr more characters, more moments and more world building. I think what James Gunn meant by it not being an origin story means it will skip through Clark's landing/child phase in Smallville. We've seen this one too many times already. It will technically be an origin for him being Superman though, from what I've heard Supe's is going to be a heavy boy scout and him dealing with not being the first hero in the universe.

I feel he is perfect for a younger Superman, and as he fulfills the role of Superman, engages with powerful villains he slowly start getting a bit more buffer and toned to Henry’s size. Let’s be honest here, Henry’s physique is how most Superman fans see Superman closely looking like. However this guy seems to be a bit slimmer, if he succeeds in winning our hearts as being the farm boy from smallville turned superhero I think the more he develops his body and character will play a big part in his career as being Superman.

@@volvot6rdesignawd702 I’m not sold either however, if he could use his need for comedy for Clark Kent and more serious and light hearted ideas for Superman and maybe rarely have a mix I think that could be great if done correctly. Maybe I’ll do a video on this concept and explore a bit more. I normally make video’s with recommendations, a better fit for a better story videos with my opinions on how to help make characters have a better place to tell engaging stories this could be a cool idea. Gunn still has to prove to us that he is right for the job and so far this casting is looking good!

He's definitely got the face for it. Still fairly unknown and while I'm happy a fresh face gets a chance it also means his acting ability isn't really known.

Tbh starting fresh and building up the character is the best thing for superman and dc. If we have 10 years oh marvel first few phases then we are in for one hell of a ride 🤘

It's just so weird that Batman's first DCU movie will be him doing the caped crusader bit for 10+ years but Superman will be starting so young. I imagine Batman will probably appear in some movies before the Brave and the Bold, but still weird. Hopefully it all works out because I'm dying to get some decent DC movies already.

Having stopped smaller crimes and such and then we get a big bad I would love to see brainiac as a villain I doubt they’ll do that but more likely a lex Luther but there has to be a clear threat to humanity on some level

its hard to include any compelling reporter work in a 2 hour movie. smallville had bits of it in dozens of episodes and it seemed like it was a job. in a movie they will just gloss it over as "you see? he is doing reporter work in this 10 minute segment, he is a reporter im telling you". i really doubt theyre going to scorcese it up when they have a guy who really doesnt need to sneak around in a trenchcoat.

Im glad hes young! We can get him longer and finally get the innerconnected story!

David Corenswet is like a lovechild of Tom Welling and Henry Cavill on that one picture that AJ just click.

I can tell whether I’ll enjoy a Superman movie by “the first flight” scene. Cavil’s face when he first flies in Man of Steel is fucking great.

Rachel starred in The Marvel Mrs. Maisel, which is a show about a Jewish female standup comedian in the 1950s/60s. I could definitely see her pulling off the classic witty Lois Lane. Not sure about the new guy as Superman but James Gunn has always had a pretty good eye for casting.

David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are the perfect choices for Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane. I have faith in James Gunn’ vision and this seems to be an accurate representation of their comic-book counterparts. Also, this gives me Superman (1978) vibes. 🦸🏻‍♂️

Lmao!! I have zero faith in James Gunn. He’ll turn every Character into a joke like Thor Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder. Both films are a slap in the face to how Thor really is as a character.

@@ResidentRecon89 I think you confuse him with Taika Waititi. But I agree, I have little hopes for that whole new DC thing by him. Not only because I'm not a fan of Guardians Of the Galaxy and especially (The) Suicide Squad, I don't like his kind of humor, but in general, he doesn't give me vibes that he's gonna do something great. Besides, DC is a dead horse that they can't stop beating. The characters are great, the comic books are great, the animated TV shows are great (or at least some of them), but DCU was a mess, and I feel the same about the new DCU, or whatever it's called.

@@ResidentRecon89 This 100% take guardians the 1st one was that new car smell funny new and interesting .. 2nd was lame like super lame .. i havent bothered with the 3rd .. Thor is a perfect example of how to F..k up a character first 2 movies were serious Thor which worked 3rd was strange but ultimately had that perfect blend of comedy and seriousness Thor Love And Thunder just ruined the character and whole thor franchise !! So im not sold on a guy that has done comedy and hit and miss comedy at that !!

I specifically came to look for Joe's reaction! Let's see how it goes, hope is good.

cuz I heard a few notes, I had to pause this video and pull up the original Superman theme by John Williams. I think I'm ready for this new Superman.

My problem is, If we keep retelling Superman's origin and his early days, we will never get to the really good stuff and characters in movie form.

Smallville is literally 10 seasons focused exclusively on Clark Kent. I’d say it’s more than enough. Superman and Lois also did a fantastic job with Clark.

The reason why he looks like Henry Cavill is because Henry looks like Superman. And David looks like Superman. 🫡

Nah.. Henry COULD HAVE BEEN GOOD - but he was the only person wanting to see a “joyful” superman.. other than that - he was brooding, depressed and violent.. not something Superman is.

In 1978 I was 7 yrs. old... I LOVED THIS MOVIE SO MUCH, AND STILL DO TO THIS DAY! Christopher Reeves will Always be "MY" Superman! 💯💯💯❤❤

I think Tom Whelling will always be my Superman/Clark Kent. Him and Michael Rosenbaum as lex luthor. IMO smallville had the best repesentation for superman. (once you get past some of the freak of the week 22 episodes weekly TV format.)

yea but i dont really even want to see tom welling flying around and blitzing around saving everything in an instant, and toms younger supes wouldnt match with justice league that well either with bruce, diana and barry pushing their nose in everything. smallville was beautiful but thats that. though if they ever did a superman game id hope it follows smallville and only at the very end you learn to fly at will and beat some villains with left hand while end credits are rolling

He's even got the Superman mustache, that they need to CGI out. Love it.

i think no origin story means more along the lines of no clark just getting his power and building the fortress and everything but they will start with him finishing his training and intergrating himself into society.

THEY HAD HENRY! we wanted to see Henry at the height of his power blasting through space not another origin story.

So the guy playing Superman people say he looks like a young henry cavil. To be honest, it feels like there is going the smallvile approach for those of you who don't know smallvile it was an early CW show about Clarke Kent growing up

They also say that the movie will have a really small budget, under 100M

I am soooo beyond happy at the casting!! I called for Corenswet to be Superman 2 years ago! He had expressed wanting to play him in the past, he looks amazing, he's 6'4, he is a solid actor but also not A-list. Exactly what we need for Superman. Can't wait!!

Why wouldn’t people want to see an earlier Superman working at the daily planet and learning to be Superman. That premise is like core Superman. Not having henry cavil is a great loss but let’s not pretend Snyder’s take on Superman was accurate or groundbreaking. If they were he’d still be making those movies.

@@sirxxv5498 exactly (and same goes for The Witcher) 1. He hasnt shown himself to be a good actor outside of the evil superman scene. 2. He was written terribly. Angsty and rarely smiled. He kills someone / destroys half the city when he fights. 3. The suit looked weird most times.

@@Argumemnon i agree, superman is literally one of the most recognizable superheroes on the planet and unlike say batman or spiderman, he doesn't wear a mask so his appearance does play a bigger factor

Even though the Flash flopped, there may be some promise with the new Superman IF he's written well. Hopefully things go well though. Best of luck to the actor.

I hope they have phone booths, I hope they have blimps for gotham, I want all those fantasy-esc elements. I think the general audience is ready for that campiness and style, no need to set it in our exact time and world, where everything is bland and depressing cuz its "real".

There is nothing fantastic about phone booths, they were real and used for 70 years. We just don't have public phones anymore. It would be a nice nod to the past having them in Metropolis, but far from fantasy.

You’ve saying nobody wants a super man origin story but I feel like that’s perfect i don’t think there’s been a big screen adaptation of super man’s origin since I’ve been alive, and I’m almost 23, definitely think it’s time to tell that story again. He’s not Spider-Man who’s had multiple origin films in less then two decades

writing wise he was the worst superman probably, you mean the look? like if that's what really matters on a character lol, anyway this new guy will probably be better in any way, they can't screw the characterization this time unless they're braindead, they will not make "sad superman" and jesus allegory crap that snyder liked a lot, they learned their lesson i suppose.

Yeah the casting is spot on and Gunn making the film is perfect. In this day and age we really need the return to form with Superman. With Clark I wanna see a loveable nice dork who looks on the brightside and sees the goodness in people which gets contrasted by the cynical society around him
