Those kids will cherish these videos when they get older. Be cool to look back on the time their dad built a studio when they were young. Congrats man
I haven't caught up on your channel in a while, this is going to be amazing! I'm excited to watch this unfold, as I've thought about doing a studio this way if I ever started over. Seems really smart and cost effective.
This is so exciting. I love watching studio builds. Can you do a video of drums in that space now unfinished so all of us that dream of playing in an empty warehouse can live vicariously through you?

this! also pull Impulse Responses in there.
Congrats! That's a big move for the future. Have you thought about spray foam the sheetmetal structure. It would dampen the metal and create a good thermal barrier. Then frame a traditional wood framed wall as a sound barrier and integrated acoustic design.
Bro I know the feeling your kids love their daddy lol
Dad: "Aye... I'm recording a video... don't be screwing around" Kids: "Ohh... we bout to show our WHOLE ASSES" lmao
Looks great! Happy for you and your family. Can't wait to see it as it progresses
Congrats, so stoked for you…..I can’t wait to see the finished studio!!!
The progress looks so exiting! Congrats on the new building bro!
Wow. It is really cool to see how you are approaching this build!
Awesome! Love this. Can’t wait to see it progressing. Congratulations.
Awesome :) I can't wait to see the progress and the choices you make! Sounds like you're on to a winner with the larger, less divided space and access to the garden and greenery outside.
Awesome man, congratulations on the new space!!! I would definitely like to see videos of the gradual progress. 👍🏻👍🏻
Love this video. Your kids are so fun! Excited to see the buildout
The absolute dream! Congratulations, and much deserved. (And the kiddos are an endearing addition.)
Looks great good luck with your project can’t wait to see the finished project and hear the things coming out
Hell yeah man! Keen to see your progress
New studio is looking great man! Congrats 🎉 I’ve been working on a open concept for a couple of years since I got into recording mixing and producing, and it’s the best thing ever, I’m never going back. My studio is very similar in structure, but way smaller. My humble recommendation would be to invest as much as you can on acoustic isolation because in my experience metal is not a barrier for low frequencies even with some isolation. An air gap inbetween the inner wall and outer wall will work but might not be enough. Anyway, I’d personally love to see the step by step process from now on!! Since I’m planning to move and build another bigger/better space. Good luck!!
Very cool building. Congrats you deserve it. A visualized dream will always come true. Can't wait to see the progress but these things take time so enjoy the journey. Cheers.

So true man! You gotta see it first inside.
Congratulations. Currently looking to expand myself and I'm excited to see the process from the ground up.
congrats brother! very excited to watch the transformation!
Cool stuff, nice high ceilings. Look forward to seeing the progress.
awesome studio build, cant wait to hear drum recording ,its gonna be huge sounding, the kids love it
Going to be super fun seeing this progress.
Absolutely would love to see every step of this process!
Ohhh wow that is a huge project, I wish you all the luck with this!
Nice dude! Awesome looking so far. Drums are gonna be sweet in there
I'm in the middle of planning my basement build out. Exciting to see your new space!
Congrats to you and the fam.
Very very cool! That indeed looks like a great open table for opportunities. Biggest questions in my mind at first start to circle around insulation, ventilation, effects of inside/outside temperature differences and possible moisture build up inside the structure because of that. And after that, soundproofing.
Yes!!! Can't wait to see it!!
Awesome! I’m excited for you
Thanks for this! My buddy and I are planning on making a studio for film/photo and this was the route we were thinking. Thank you!!!
Great project. Thank you for sharing. Having metric is so much more confortable to understand for non americans. Glad to see I am not the only one struggling having to get things done with my kids around :)
Very very cool project. I'm quite jealous of the dedicated space you will have. Well done!
Very cool indeed!
The building looks impressive good luck with the rest of the build 👍👍your kids are good 👍
Man… this is super exciting, and I know you’ll make the best of this new investment! This is very close to what I plan to do here in Louisiana. I’ve been following you for a long time, fell off for a while, but I decided to check in again to see where you’re at now. What a blessing to have this new space to work in. Best of luck to you brother, keep the videos coming! You’ve taught me very much in my own journey, and I hope your journey continues to be productive and fruitful! Can’t wait to see the next studio update once you get everything set up the way you want it! I know you’ve already got a vision for that new space, and I can’t wait to see that vision come to light! Also, it’s been a while since I’ve checked in on your videos, so idk how to support your vision now, but send me a link and I’ll be happy to show support. And I hope that others who have learned from you will do the same to the best of their ability. This is a tough industry to work in, and we all owe our credits to those who have pioneered their way to get where they are. Even a little bit of generosity from the followers who learn from you can go a long way. Hope you and the kiddos are doing well today brother!

Hey man, thanks so much for such a cool comment. Yeah, I'm doing great actually, I just needed some time off to regroup. I just posted a big chart that shows my new approach called the "Organic Recording Method" and it's helping me stay grounded in all the chaos of planning out videos and content creation. If you want to support me, that's amazing, and the best way is through course or membership. I also might make a membership here on KZread and then disable ads on new videos, because I think it's the right thing to do for people who wanna learn.
This is very interesting. I'd not thought of that. I've been wondering how to do the same thing myself, so I'm looking forward to seeing your next steps.
Very happy for you. That's a great project you have! Your kids are awesome btw😂.
If I knew minions were in this movie, I would have microwaved some popcorn! Capture IR's as you fill that space up 😎
Best wishes!!!
Congratulations !!!! Your kids are adorable.
what you've done there is kind of what I wanna do as well in my backyard to function as a live room for both recording sessions and livestreams and or videos as well. aiming for mine to be around 28 to 32 feet in length and around 24 to 28 width ceiling height around 12 or so i haven't done sound engineering numbers just looking at available space and min maxing the outside location and interior specs after sound proofing interior well
Congrats❤
Fantastic!
That’s awesome man, big deal. Congratulations, owning is the way to go, the kids are having a blast :) the open studio is a cool way to go, mines open and I love it, Sylvia Massey studio is open too. So lots of way different ways you can go. For the inso, you could go with a rigid right on the metal with a wooden framed wall with rock wool. Again you have lots of options. Options are always good to have. Wish you the best :)
I love the floors! Leave them for your live room and float the mix room.
I'm a composer and professional singer, not a pro engineer, but I'm building a studio building myself. The project has gotten a bit long in the tooth and I've somewhat run out of steam, but I work every day and I've got youtube running in my in-ears while working for comfort. After nine other random but great videos from you had played, this one pops up. It made me feel less alone and feel some kinship with you 😊 Good luck and don't forget to grab hold of that work enthusiasm when it visits. And when you feel that enthusiasm DON'T LET GO OF IT! Edit: There's lots of videos I'd like to see from you, but I should get on with the outdoor insulation. I'll try and remember to get back to you. Edit2: Video ideas: 1. When you build something like this from the ground up, what are the advantages you can leverage, apart from acoustics such as designing for a good bass response from the ground up? 2. (In case your're planning to be hands on with this) studio cabling and lighting. I personally don't even know whom to ask. The electricians here in Austria are very competent, but they don't know the first thing about what to consider when wiring for audio 3. Nothing to do with the studio, but I'm currently obsessed with this after hearing some examples: making/using old-school carbon microphones creatively 4. How to buy a studio drum-set when you're not a drummer 5. How to let your kids visit you in your studio without endangering your gear 😅
You are doing what I've been dreaming of for last 5 years. One day. But congrats. P.s. I want what ever your kids had before your shoot . Man are they full of energy! Good Luck in your endeavor, my friend!
Cool building, do a bunch of reverb impulses while it's empty for later use and maybe share with us.
What a great idea! I went open concept 10yrs ago and absolutely loved it. You've definitely got me thinking with this structure as I'll be doing a major studio upgrade in the next year or two once I move. A few quick questions: Where are you located? Is temperature an issue? I'm in southern Ontario and it can get pretty cold here in the winter. I'm wondering what insulation needs would look like? Cheers.
That is pretty awesome. As it is right now would make a great reverb chamber.😄
Hey Ryan, love your videos. I’m really curious to see your progress. I’ve built a studio behind my house (or rather, turned a cinderblock garage into a studio) that’s about 24 x 14 I think. Instead of having additional walls built, I used combinations of spray foam, an air gap, and kinetics isolation hooks. Even though I felt I went to great lengths, it just isn’t isolated enough. And, hilariously, my neighbor got a rooster that’s next to it. So if I had to caution you at all, I would go the extra mile on external isolation before it’s too late. A friend down the road has a back building that did 2x6 staggered studs and you can still hear things like birds chirping outside. I realize it can never be perfect, but it’s embarrassing to ask a client to come back when your neighbor isn’t mowing the yard. -Carson
Livin' the dream!!
Hey!! My names Eli too! haha Man Ive been watching your drum content for years. You deserve this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m excited about the new studio and hope all is going well. I have a request for content whenever you’re back up and running: would you please demo your Royer 121 on a variety of sources but particularly on electric guitar? It’d be great to hear the differences between the 57 and the Royer on the same source (using your clip). I know you have a lot going on, best of luck w everything. Thx for your consideration
Cool. I want to do the same. Please document and post as much as you can! I’m curious where you go with the outer walls. I’ve read a lot of studio build books and follow along in specific message boards. If you are trying to soundproof.. they say you need to build your walls with mass in an air tight 2 leaf configuration.. Mass, Air Gap, Mass. So, it might not be in the budget but, you might want to add 3/4” ply or sheet rock to the inside of the outside sheet metal walls.
congrats
Very interesting project, it'll be cool so follow the progress on this one, i hope you'll document everything on video. Maybe i missed it on the video, but are you going to do a building-inside-building for soundproofing the studio, for yours and for your neighbours' comfort?
so happy for you! i am working on something similar. how are you going to insulate it for sound? you seem close enough to neighbors that drums and screaming guitars could be a prob. and i've been cautious about a metal building for the hard reflections and minimum sound blocking. can't wait to see what you do with it, congrats!!!!!
Congrats to you, Ryan. Very exciting. Any problems with zoning? Also, have you given any thought as to how you are going to build out the walls to keep the neighbors happy?? 🙂
Just want you happy! ✨
Would love to see a video of the insulation installation... The kids are an added bonus.. Teaches patience lol... I have 3... I'm almost guru level hahahah
Haha that’s so exactly me in 1996. Fab!
This IS cool
I bought a metal 18x36 building - still slowly doing stuff to it. . . I paid 6 k for it - 10 ft walls on the side. Spray foam the ceiling (closed cell) minimum. The metal sweats - and even reflective double bouble won't prevent a leak if the nylon around the screws go bad. . . My plan for mine - spray foam the top - use double bouble reflective insulation (be sure to have strips to keep it an inch off the walls - Amazon sells reflective insulation that has a closed cell foam core. Then - 2x6 walls off set - filled with earth wool.

I put mine on gravel - and I'm doing a deck type floor. . . Just cheaper vs the concrete
Congrats on the space! Kinda of weird question but can you explain more on how you got the plumbing done? I assume you had someone come and design something for you what was that process like? We are building a studio shed in the backyard as well but have not figured out the plumbing process yet.
This is very cool mate! The high ceilings make me think of Abbey Road or Angel over here.
get the spray foam insulation on the metal then frame out a 2x4 wall and insulate that
Kids crack me up. 😅Thanks so much for including them! #dadlife
Whats the wind rating for a building like that and I’m thinking you live in a warm state , thought I was gonna see heated floor (pex piping is easy install and cost effective) I own a 40x60 out back on my property , I really want to do a interior build out but I estimated mine to be 80 Grand , -plus utilities are getting way up there . Wish you the best with your project, I’m interested to see how you proceed
Really awesome man. Have you done any research on foam insulation vs fiberglass as far as cost and sound absorption?
Ahhh wow really exciting! Record some verby drums in there before you build it !!
Exciting project! I would hire a spray-foam expert to shoot the hole structure.
Any update on the studio construction? I’d like to see it finished!
Wondering how you will approach sound proofing?
Let's goooo
No comment on what the walls will be/ any sound proofing? Gonna need natural light / skylights? Dawg?
This video is uber cute Congrats :) !
You could make some impulse responses of it, before you complete it. 😀
Huge thick modular / mobile gobos could a great thing aye..
Missing those days I could have hours of fun with simple things like a wheelbarrow.

Plastic ones are crazy good times.
I'd assume you're planning on building a structure within a structure here? As it currently stands things will get really interesting when it rains.
you need to do some snare samples in there before you finish it off!
What are your ideas about heating and cooling?
Use some piezos to capture the sound of those great metal walls
I'm curious if anyone has any insight to a metal building like this for a studio? With full treatment, will rain noise hitting the metal roof be an issue? Considering a metal shell myself for my build. Thanks
@creativesoundlab
3 ай бұрын
It's a good start, but it doesn't offer any protection from noise. You still need to frame out the inside and add think walls.
I am totally gonna do the exact same except with a dirt floor. I'll have a bunch of folk-punk riot bards record there without shoes. I will also let the neighborhood kids go in when it's not in use and I guess dig around for whatever kids are interested in.
Looking at the location of your neighbors properties I’m surprised you were allowed to get a permit to build that. Especially as a metal building. I had to build mine as a wood building, but it was still a pole barn and it’s the same size as yours. I didn’t build it for my studio… My Studios actually in a commercial building that I own in downtown
Who makes the building/kit...?
Graba un sample snare antes que termines de poner el revestimiento con ese sonido ambiente
Is that 16k each for the concrete and building or 16k together?
@creativesoundlab
Жыл бұрын
16k for each so 32 for whole thing so far
The amount you paid for that building is about what I’m into for just acoustic treatment 😢 but I know there’s way more that goes into it

WWWWWWWWOWWWW Come to Russia to Moscow, to my studio to visit me!!
bro, get that grade dirt OFF of the steel, i don't know why people do that, but you will rust that metal, i don't care how powder coated it is, expose and always make sure you can see 6" of the footing from the outside, i am a licensed building contratcor
dude idk who needs to tell you that but you should never, ever, ever post photos of the outside of your studio. professional studio gear thieves are a thing and if you don't believe they can and will track you down, just have a look at people playing geoguesser online. if i were you, i'd take down this video immediately.
