Oh! Forgot to mention a little background about the place where your furniture was made. Its in upper Michigan and It’s pronounced …Min-nom-min-nee….Menominee gets its name from a regional Native American tribe known as the Menominee, which roughly translates into "Wild Rice." The area was originally the home of the Menominee Indian Tribe. They now have a reservation along the Wolf River in North Central Wisconsin. Menominee gained prominence as a lumber town. If you do paint it, this info may have some baring on the color or colors you paint it! Hope that helps! 😊❤

I love that wicker sofa set and I want to see the kitten.

I am thrilled. Wonderful finds. I can relate to buying the new range. My husband and I searched for an older home here in S.C.. Something akin to the 1925 bungalow. We could not find what we wanted so we bought a new home that doesn't look like a cookie cutter house. It has trim in a more modern Craftsman style. I love Craftman Style homes. I'm redoing my (new) kitchen with vintage wallpaper and shelves. We added a sunroom with a tongue and groove ceiling. In there sits my 1920s floor lamp and 1940s sofa that was reupholstered in mohair. Mohair! Goes to show, there's more than one way to... you know. I find most everything on Marketplace or thrift shops. Enjoy your new range and wicker! Looking forward to the sale tonight!

Great story. These things happen. My MIL was helping clean out a friend’s parents house. My MIL said she pointed to a lamp on the TV and said that looks like the stuff her DIL (me) likes. The friend said take it. That’s how I got a free genuine FrankArt lamp.

You've got your work cut out for you with the furniture but I know you are up to it. Now that you have a stove again we can expect some cooking video's this fall and winter.

Love the stove it's perfect for your kitchen. I like to stop in the Habitat store too, you never know what they have. I'm over the moon with the wicker furniture. Look how well the couch and cushions were made. Puts today's furniture to shame! Keep us updated, your progress is amazing.

Wunnaful, wunnaful, wunnaful! Lady Luck has been smilin' down on you this week! The modern stove is the perfect solution; I'd paint the feet and control knobs jadite green. Put a cute shelf behind in same color for your range set. The woven porch suite (chef's kiss), and at a bargain price! Can't wait to see how well it cleans up and what fabric/colors you choose for it. If you go with a solid color you can vary the look seasonally with pillows. You have lots of old curtains that could make great pillow covers, and now you have something new to keep your eyes peeled for when you shop for vintage goods. So excited to see what you'll do!

That one advertisement for a set costing $100. That was serious money then. Most of the old ones that did cane and wicker repairs are long gone. I remember the mirror slivering, chrome and metal replating, brass polishing, lamp repairs, and upholstery miracle workers. Everyone cringed when antiquing kits arrived in the 1970s. They had just gotten over spray paint in a can. Time marches on. Great finds.

Yes indeed. Almost all of my design ideas come directly from original source materials. The color, texture and pattern designs of the depression era are so different from today.

Lloyd loom is is amazingly durable when one considers it is basically just rolled up paper. Happily the material is still available to re-weave missing areas. I think that this suite has come home.

Watching on tv. Marvelous choice for stove!!! Lookin' 40's but safe!!!! The porch furniture is a rare, rare find! You impress me more each time!! Plus, you are usually quite amusing and occasionally a bit dufus! I am 86 and have known many famous and you are right up thete with the best of them!!❤

Scott, so happy for your perfect stove! Where do I start with your furniture set, well the Universe has great plans for your Bungalow, and your fans are on tender hooks! Last Summer I found the same set, without the magazine rack at one of my Honey Holes in Absecon, N. J. In red, with muted red upholstered cushions and the design motif was in black ,on the back of all the pieces, oh I forgot the set came with a matching table lamp. Guess the buyers wanted a lamp instead of a magazine rack 😂😂. I actually felt I was going to have a thrifting nervous breakdown. I sat down in the couch and could hear the backstories with people drinking Yom Collins drinks with extra lime. I felt I felt I was time traveling. Back to Sumner of 2022, I had no place for the set, I walked away, just so excited to have had the experience. Regardless what others think, is not important, I had a great Sunday afternoon and am so Happy for you! Happy Dance all around 💃❤️💃❤️💃❤️💃❤️

Oh yes, that is my favorite of all the old pictures. The red, black and gold striped upholstery is not as common as other fabrics with wicker, but boy does it look terrific.

On the right side of the sofa is a wrought iron goldfish bowl holder, I've been looking for one for years.

I am so glad you finally have a stove!!!🥳. The wicker set is awesome! I generally prefer old things to show their age. However, I think that wicker set deserves to be restored to a closer version of its original self. It’s just too nice not to. I would definitely have the wicker on that arm repaired so it doesn’t deteriorate further. You really scored in today’s video. Well done!

And about that scratch on the white porcelain enamel: one can get some stuff at hardware stores to cover up the scratch. And then you found the whole set of furniture for your porch! The renovation of your 1925 bungalow has progressed very nicely. Enjoy it!

I totally agree! I have no doubt that if I had not come along that 100 year old, complete wicker set would have wound up in a dumpster. Most people look at it and see what horrible ratty old condition. It’s good for nothing but trash. I have the ability to look at something old and worn around the edges and see the beauty and potential, thank you for appreciating it as well.

Back in 2003 when I bought a 1928 small craftsman house when I redid my kitchen my first new stove, I purchased was a White Hotpoint electric range. It worked I really wanted a vintage stove, but they were expensive. Hotpoint has been around since the 1920s. It was a great stove it lasted until I sold the house.

Congratulations on two more pieces of the dream coming into place. The furniture was definitely an amazing find, to have escaped painting. Your thoughts on colour and brightness reminded me of the shock when they cleaned and restored the Sistine Chapel…a lot of people hated the bold colours lol. You can still get almost exactly the same upholstery fabric that was original to the set.🖤🇨🇦

If you study the original colors and designs, I bet that you could repaint that fantastic wicker set. That is a nice little stove and it does have a somewhat retro feel to it. Congratulations on both excellent purchases.

Great little stove! I had an awesome used O'Keefe and Merritt stove 45 years ago when I lived in California and had to sell it when I moved to Florida. Your stove reminded me of it. I hope you can restore that porch set. The upholstery will give it a nice face lift. Those springs in the cushions alone are worth the $75 you paid. You can't get those anymore. Today the seats sink and sag because they don't have iron springs like that. Maybe you can have that hole in the arm repaired one day. The set is worth saving. I can't wait until you put it out on your porch once you have worked on it. It will look fantastic, no doubt.

The stove totally has a vintage look to it! You’re very smart! I have a stove that looks vintage but isn’t. It was GE Artistry line from 10 or 12 yrs ago. My bf bought me a Big Chill refrigerator &although I love it,I won’t let him get me the matching stove because my GE looks as retro as the Big Chill stove. Plus,the customer service at Big Chill is the worst of any business besides Cadillac that I’ve ever dealt with!😆

Scott, Ive just moved into an old Florida style apartment & Im as excited about the decor & quirks in this place as you are in your house. I may never leave this place, lol. It came with a small gas stove though, & while I grew up using gas its now been 50(!) years since Ive used one & its terrifying, especially since theres no pilot light. Good thing I no longer cook much. Congrats on the furniture, what a steal!
