Now THIS is a hotel I would pay to stay at. This is badass!

WOW. This is amazing. Disney totally messed up with the Galactic Starcruiser. As others have commented here, Disney is getting rid of themed hotels and going for the modern-Ikea-Hilton-Marriott look. Nothing wrong with those, but not what I want at a "themed" hotel/resort. This place is amazing. Totally worth the money. I would even pay double what you paid to stay at this place. Heck, I paid 900+ a night to stay at the Disney Contemporary Tower with Theme Park view. Off my bucket list, but not worth the money. Thank you for sharing this. Lets hope Disney learns from this mistake.

Fair, but the Galactic Starcruiser isn't/wasn't a Star Wars hotel. The only mistake Disney made with it was not making that distinction clear. The Galactic Starcruiser is/was a two day, live action role-playing experience, dinner show, escape room, murder mystery, interactive Star Wars game with multiple branching paths, included gourmet food, a park admission, vip access to both Galaxy's edge rides and unlike anything else. Expensive? Yes, possibly prohibitively so. For casual fans? Possibly not. Is it a hotel though? No. It also has the best after experience rating of anything Disney has ever done.

@@BiggestDawgEver Absolutely! I went on Starcruiser and you are 100% right. But how do you describe something that never existed before? All people heard was "$4,000" and "hotel". Yes, Starcruiser is expensive, but I didn't feel ripped off. (And I would say if I had.) An enormous amount of work/people go into operating Starcruiser. There are over a dozen actors and, I assume, a Westworld behind the scenes. They have to manage 200 people running around doing different things. Every person has a unique experience. Even the friend I want with had different things to do. And you can't do everything. As far as ratings, right again. I never heard from anyone who went and didn't love it. But these positive comments were drowned out by the sour grapes sniping from people who hadn't gone. There was a "I can't afford to go and I'm glad I can't because it sucks anyway" theme to the negative comments. Lastly, like you, I am grappling with the verb tense. Does one describe Starcruiser in the past tense when it's still operating? : )

I really like the meals arriving in very simplistic, utilitarian pots :) matches the space theme oddly well, instead of fancy dishes.

This is precisely what Disney needs--immersive, highly themed hotels. Instead, Disney is de-theming all of its resorts and turning them into what passes for a generic hotel.

Expense. These are custom-decorated rooms with a short (limited) run of "Prop" pieces that make the rooms look and feel like they do. In a hotel setting where you can pay off the costs quickly, it is a good idea. For use in a home, the price for each of these custom pieces would be outlandishly expensive. It amounts to custom home decor, which is always "Tres cher!"

@@rocistone6570 That's exactly his point. If these aesthetics were mainstream and commonplace then they wouldn't have to be made custom. Futuristic looking furniture and infrastructure doesn't have to be more expensive to produce on a corporate level, it's just that a majority of furniture and architectural companies are compelled to abide by traditional design sensibilities for entirely arbitrary reasons.

TBH, while it may be fun to stay at a hotel like this during a stay at a theme park, I wouldn't want to live in a pretend spaceship IRL, especially when you can see how fake all the props are up close.

@@duplexidemic You do know that has nothin to do with Stat Watrs while at the Star Wars Gallatic Starcruiser you are paying for the whole experience not a bloody room.

This is fabulous! Beautiful but still spacious and well themed. This is the kind of thing that Disney should be building. Instead, Disney is building cramped, second rate, over priced shacks, and stripping away the theming from their other buildings. The hotel you are showing here is wonderful, I really hope it is a success. Maybe it will teach Disney a lesson in how to do things right!

Here after Disney announces the closure of it's star cruiser hotel.

They should open a second one near Kennedy Space Center, so freaking cool.

Looks awesome- looking out the window kind of took me out of the whole “I’m in space vibe”. Stay inside, keep the shutters closed, and it feels like a space station. Cool.

Im here after part of this video was featured in Jennny Nicholson 4-hrs long video essay about Disney Star Ward Galaxy Starcruiser Hotel failure. Really Station Cosmos looks amazing and i hope it is widly successful with visitors and guests at Futuroscope. It looks insane! Great showcase of the place and great video editing!

I went to Futuroscope many years ago and it was brilliant. The buildings and attractions are incredible. Having this new hotel really makes me want to go back and experience it again!

@@jlasf When I went we did everything that we wanted to do in one day. I’m sure there are other attractions now but I think you could do it in one day. It’s so refreshingly different to Disney etc. The buildings are so unbelievable, if you are anywhere near there I highly recommend!

@@jlasfMy sister and her family went to Le Puy du Fou 3 years ago and she’s still talking about it! Apparently it’s amazing so would love to do that next time I go. Disneyland was great, they’ve added some new things since I was there last, the Marvel Avengers Campus etc and I think they’re still expanding. You’ll have a great time wherever you go!

That's awesome how the food and drinks come through the elaborate loop system. All you need is a view of the moon surface outside your window to immerse yourself. Nice.

This is a hotel with space theme! This one looks excelent, and doesn’t need special effects, like to go to a ship and embark in a virtual starcruisser. Points to Futurescope for this good sci-fi hotel.

If you look for immersively themed hotels, look at the hotels at Puy-du-Fou, a french history theme park. Or the park hotels at Europapark in Germany. Mira Costa at Tokyo Disney Sea is amazing as well, of course, being partially built INTO the park and serving as backdrop of one of the lands. By the way, there is also a loop restaurant inside Europapark.

The restaurant looked very much like the Rollercoaster Restaurant at Alton Towers theme park in the UK. That has the spirals and loops for your food to travel down to your table 😀

There's another one in Europa-Park in Germany called Foodloop, that one was the first I believe.

I agree. Cut the price drastically but they could still charge more than a traditional hotel because of the exclusivity. Charge by the day. Get rid of the roleplay actors but keep a staff to run the other aspects of the property like the light saber training, which would be an add on. I think people would willingly pay for that experience.

cool aesthetics but nothing like the Halcyon experience beyond a cool looking room. where is the cast doing improv and giving you quests, is there any sort of activities beyond food and drink in a themed room. the galactic star cruiser offered quite a bit for the price - room, themed food, evening shows, quests, puzzles, scavenger hunts, pass to Batuu with lightning lanes and a choose your own adventure. anyone thinking this cool looking hotel room is comparable to what Halycon offered is missing the point of that experience by saying they both had space themed rooms.

In fairness, when comparing just the rooms, yeah, this looks better for cost. But alot of the money you spend for Starcruiser is for the SW LARP experience so it makes sense this would be cheaper if its just the hotel theming and no actors or special effects all over the place for two-and-a-half days. Still, looks mighty impressive. I wouldn't mind giving this a try if ever in the area.

Good point! I've heard good things from those who've actually been to Galactic Starcruiser, but I think what people really want is a "regular" Star Wars hotel (translation: highly immersive, but not a two-day LARPing experience with the correspondingly high price tag). Imagine getting to stay on board a Star Destroyer, but getting to check in and out whenever you want, instead of having to participate in a two-day story set during the sequel trilogy.

I went to the Starcruiser last month, it is without a doubt worth every penny. The immersion is unbelievable, the food is outstanding, and the cocktails are so beautifully made.

@@alecdunlop8793 My gut feeling: Everything more than $300 per night (maybe add $200 for the entertainment in the Starcruiser) is pure luxury and can't be worth every penny. People might choose to spend more if they have the money and that is ok, but it can't be considered a good value at these prices.

Fantastic video! Thank you! I would love to stay here. Frankly, I was hoping they had everyone walk around in hazmat suits! Let them know some orreries around the place would enhance the effect. Maybe include Sol System, the orrery from the film Pitch Black, or maybe something like the orrery from Prometheus!

I thought in 2023 we would expect to see more themed hotels but in fact it seems like we have less. I hope more hotels like this pop up with reasonable prices and well-executed themes.

I went to Starcruiser. It leaves this place in the dust. The theming and execution is SO much better.

And now the news is out that the Starcruiser is closing in September--a great concept, let down in execution. And price. I can take a full week cruise with my wife, all inclusive, for the cost of 2 days in a concrete box.

Well Disney just shut down its Star Wars hotel...but yeah other than the theme, this hotel has pretty much nothing in common with the immersive role-playing experience folks got at the Disney hotel. The higher cost was due mainly to paying the actors (and Disney gouging people).

I guess the Imagineers better pick up their A game, lol. They are falling behind

That was Starcruiser. There was a window that looked into space - with the motion of planets and spaceships.

Gosh I'm getting Tomorrowland 1998 vibes and that's not a bad thing. I missed this.

Too bad it's not Star Trek, but still very coolio. I really miss the Star Trek the Experience they used to have in Vegas. I could just lose myself for hours and hours and hours there.

I'm in the US. A round trip flight from Chicago to Paris would be $2,700. Train from Paris to Chasseneuil-du-Poitou one-way 1st class is $50 (approx), so travel would be $2,800 for one person, plus $255x2 = $510 brings us to $3,310, plus one more adult puts us at $6,110. So, about what a DSC trip would have cost, but I'd also get to see Paris, and possibly the south for France if I took the train south toward Spain afterward. I can't believe the gall of Disney's starcruiser pricing packages. They'd have been booked for a decade if they had made tickets per person per night at $255 (4 people, regardless of age, 2 nights: would have been $2,040, plus $440 to get into the park for one day). Still pricey, but not out of reach for a family's big one-time vacation.

The Space Loop hotel is good looking -except for the door knobs! Go through all the effort involved then nevermind the doorknobs?🤔. Anyway, you can't really compare it to Disney's Starcruicser coz it's not a standard hotel w/c the Loop is. Maybe Disney can convert it to a standard hotel🤔 after it has ceased being the Starcruicser. I think it will still generate customer interest because of the theming (needs external decor coz as the Starcruicser that was not needed and so it looks like a bunker outside-boring).

It's awesome but that carpet would make me constantly think I need to vacuum or something.

255/ night over 4000/ night? This hotel will clean up! I love Disney, but this leaves Disney in the dust. Disney had better some up with something by next year! Universal will have so many new rides, hotels and fooleries up and going! Love the way you just let the hotel speak for itself! (No spoken audio)! Keep up the good work!
