Hello Sonia!!! Chanel with savings is even more special!! Such a beautiful palette but it’s the BRUSHES! We know it’s the brushes 💕 I keep waiting for my crows to bring me a gift. When I first started feeding them, they brought me a little sharp stone tool. I was so flattered. But they have brought nothing since. I think these crows are more takers than givers ha ha. Hi Rebecca! Thank you for featuring Chanel’s Eclat de Nuit quad and demoing it with the new (upcoming) Sonia G brush set. Here in Canada, the quad was available 3 weeks ago so I did get it - and, given that this 388 quad is a LE release, I want to mention that the YSL Stora Dolls quad is a fantastic dupe for it. I did a right eye vs left eye comparison and my mirror could not tell me which eye was which quad. On one hand, the matte mid-tone in the YSL quad is smoother and more pigmented; on the other hand, the shimmer shade in Chanel is a bit richer (not noticeably at 6’ away, TBH) and has slightly less glitter fallout than the YSL. To minimize/prevent fallout, I first apply glitter glue primer on my mobile lid and I spray my flat Rephr 21 brush with plain water before gently patting on the shadow. At the 8-hour mark, there was a bit more fallout on the YSL side. But TBH, I would only pick Chanel over YSL if I were to travel, because the shadows are pressed more firmly and there is a protective inner cover. Other than that caveat, there’s no need to have FOMO if one already has the Stora Dolls quad. Thanks again Rebecca the SG brushes are very pretty - I intend to purchase 2 or 3 brushes from the set.

I'm turned off by what I see as an aggressive marketing stratagy by Chanel. Of course it's limited edition.....🙄. Have they released anything new that would be avaliable when you feel you could make the purchase rather than panic buying. I've sent my opinion to Chanel for what its worth. I feel they really are more interested in the buzz for their "limited edition" than they are for their clients budgets.

100% agree with you! Instead I purchased their quad in Clair Obscur from Nordstroms and said “F-K it! I’ve always wanted to try that one and I have shimmers that are beautiful that I can use in the middle of the lid if I want a shimmer.

Here in Greece we’re lucky if they deign to send 25% of their limited edition anythings 😡 and even some of the main line pieces just aren’t available! The glow sticks is one and the Chanel EU site is impossible to navigate. 🤬

I totally agree with you. Chanel drops a eyeshadow here and there. If you want it you run around like a nut trying to get your hands on it spending time that you'll never get back. Kept hearing oh it available there and you go there and it's sold out oh its available over here again sold out. Chanel is selling a product that we the consumer may want they should not play games it's a turn off.

I think the new Sonia G brushes are beautiful. I wish I needed them. Her brushes are superb! Chanel is a royal pain. I was fortunate to be in south Florida a few days ago so I was able to go to the Chanel boutique in Aventura and purchase Eclat de Nuit. My goodness it really is beautiful. I don’t regret my purchase. I do feel like I purchase a lot less from Chanel than I might. I wont’t chase a product as there’s new coming out all of the time. I guess I’ve been fortunate, I’ve not had an order cancelled by either Chanel or Nordstrom’s. Oh, I did hear Erin Nicole say that she went into a Chanel boutique in Miami and was only allowed to purchase a certain amount. Her SA and the boutique manager couldn’t help her. Erin said she was trying to buy both new and replacement products. Have you ever heard of such craziness? Crows! How can anyone not love a flock of birds known as a murder?😂. Crows and ravens are some of the smartest animals on earth. They are right up there with Chimpanzees. They problem solve and use tools. They also hold “funerals/wakes” when a member dies. They also remember faces and who was nice vs mean. I have crows that recognize my car. One in particular will come into the garage and take treats from my hand. They will also mob a hunting hawk to chase it from the area. ❤️❤️❤️

Honestly, I really dislike the FOMO tactic Chanel (and other brands) has adopted to create FOMO in its customer base to sell products. The dangled sneak peaks, only available in boutiques initially, limited edition BS to work people into a frenzy is getting old. I admit I fell for it recently and actually hunted down the icy beige primer in a boutique through an influencer link. While I like it, it was not worth the trouble I had to purchase it. I am a 🤡. If this is what the new sales strategy is, Chanel can Piss Off. I have enough makeup and only one face….maybe I should thank Chanel for nudging me to shop my stash 😂😂Thanks for all your work. I appreciate you.

I love that you feed them - crows are so clever! They even have a sense of humour and prank each other (as do magpies). I feed birds in my garden too, they sit and wait staring at me through the roof, bless the little babies! That quad kept coming in and out of Nordstrom like some sort of gopher poking its head out of one of the lawns not far from my house. At first it's kinda cute and then you realize it's actually a bit of a pest. haha.

Oh no, you gave me the idea to use that little brush as a lip brush! I’m obsessed with finding better lip brushes and using “not lip” brushes as lip brushes - I’m just better at lipstick makeup, so I might as well indulge, right? - if lipstick is my passion… ohhh, that probably means I’m going to have to buy another little brush bc I know it will be perfect for lips! But it’s also super soft for smudging liner or shadow on the eyes - I was amazed how soft these brushes were My favorite brush is the big one! I love to use it for concealer - it’s so soft and blends so nicely - I know she said “maybe don’t use it exclusively for creams” - well, I might have to get another big brush then - I love how soft it is under eyes - I love how it just quickly puts a shadow over my whole eye too - oh I love to use it as an all over cream shadow - yes, the pretty dye will fade if I’m so harsh with it … but if it’s my “to rule them all” brush shape for every day… it’s probably worth it to have a couple and use it like I want and not be too precious and not use it at all - I’ve done that before then I feel like I’m making myself miss out on the enjoyment

I agree with you. use them how you want, indulge here and there to get a few repeats so that you can continue to use them the way YOU want. That's the fun of these. They're tools and we find what works best for us. LOVE that slightly firmer, dense eye pencil brush for lips. I LOVE it.

I was so excited for both of these, but after reorganizing my vanity this weekend I’ve decided against both! Maybe that will be my strategy anytime I’m tempted by something I know I don’t need. P.S. I’ve always loved crows! 💖

Sheila! Some people just hate crows. They see them as harbingers of evil. I think they just don’t understand them. Crows are so intelligent and they’re protective too. I’ve been feeding them for years and there was this really creepy guy across the street from my home on some empty land one day a year or so ago. And he was kind of setting up camp and doing some nefarious things and they just kept circling around him screaming. It was such a cacophony. I’ve never heard anything like it and it went outside and they were in the trees and everything above this guy just freaking out like a warning. It was really interesting. I love that you organized your vanity and decided against the new products. That’s such a great way to save money. Sometimes we don’t know what we have until we kind of remind ourselves by actually touching and seeing it. It’s really quite true psychologically. The crows agree I’m sure.

I feed crows too! Well... rooks and jackdaws and the odd hooded crow. We have a very very old rookery in our garden so we feel...they were here first and theyre probably smarter than we are. I managed to get the Chanel quad and I adore it for the exact reasons you mentioned... the subtlety of the shades and the way the formula is light enough to be easily blended and controlled. It's actually the first Chanel eyeshadow Ive bought for years but the green/silver shimmer pushed me over the edge. The brushes though! I have Sonia's Eye Fusion set plus the Sky and Fundementals eye sets plus various Rephrs (this is largely down to you and Lexi Jong btw so hang your heads in shame). But, insanely, Im feeling the draw to this one too, not least because of the rarity/ limited availability thing which undermines all common sense. The weaponising of Fear Of Missing Out Regret is fiendishly effective as all the beauty companies now know too well. Can I ask if this brush set is different enough from the other Sonia G eye sets to justify buying it; I mean to do these perform differently to the previous ones? Or... even if you had to buy just 2 or 3 of the new set, which would you choose? I ask such easy questions dont I? 😅

To answer your question first because I ramble and I don’t wanna forget, this brush collection is absolutely stunning and gorgeous but it’s not a marked difference between say the sky set or the pro set. But the brush number one and the brush number six are very different for her. So I’m finding those really interesting. Such different shapes. and, exactly, the Chanel blends so beautifully and makes such a pretty statement without just overpowering the wearer. My crows are absolutely definitely smarter than I am. There’s just no doubt about it ha ha.

I also loved the way the blender brush (was it no 5.) worked with the black shade in your crease, which… well I’m finding that light circular motion you use works amazjingly well for a more subtle, diffused look that as you say doesn’t wear you. Despite your disclaimers about not being a trained MUA, imo your eye shadow technique is pretty excellent

Hi Rebecca, I am loving the new Chanel quad, it’s different than any I have, I passed on the Holiday i thought was similar. I am loving the colors! It was definitely hard to track down, I say get a good SA! As for Sonia’s brushes, omg I followed her too forever and admired her collection of brushes as a collector. Lovely hair style today.....actually all the time. No one could do a messy eye makeup that could look as great as yours. I purchased the eyeshadow quads few weeks ago from website, the shimmery one looked green which is what I wanted, was disappointed when i saw some utubs it's more greytoned. So I didn't even open and it's sitting inside my makeup drawer. Rebecca, I'm so proud of you going in for that full smokey look and not just use the black as a liner! It's really a palette for those who don't already have these basic colours or simply want them in one Quad. After purchasing ND Xenon and Chanel's Holiday Quint, as pretty as this is, it's the last thing I need. It is available on Chanel's Online Store in Australia now. Another thing I don't need is more brushes, yet I'm confused as to why these Sonia G brushes needed to be dyed? I own more Réphr brushes than I care to think of, yet despite not being coloured, none have ever stained. We're supposed to be cleaing up our environment, not using unnecessary colouring to make an unused brush look pretty and then slam it into coloured product! Am I the only one who can see how ridiculous this is?🇦🇺💖👩🏼‍🎨 (Rebecca, I ordered the new Dior Smoky Essentials Backstage Eye Palette yesterday and despite being put in the online site on its own page, is going to be replacing the Cool Neutrals 002 from the regular line, despite looking nothing alike. Another reformulation like they did when they destroyed the lovely Warm Neutrals and gave us that palette that looks nothing remotely like what it was replacing, plus denying us that nice little primer. Although Dior hasn't come out and announced this to my knowledge, it makes me awfully suspicious when the new Smoky Essentials is numbered 002 and the Cool Neutrals 002 is now unavailable. Why can't they simply change the formula without touching the colour story??? Yes, Smoky Essentials is a lovely palette, yet it's no reason to throw Cool Neutrals on the scrap heap. I'm getting so outraged with Dior, I'm happy to shop from other brands. How lazy it was of them to bring back Popeline and Organza from a few years ago, yet swap the names around to make the pink-toned Popeline now Popeline Peach and the peach-toned Organza now Pink Organza! Both releases have been at this exact time and both Limited Edition. I was initially impressed with Peter Philips, yet I'm now wondering what on earth he is thinking, or maybe he isn't?🤷🏼‍♀️)

The persimmon-dyed brush tips is a Japanese tradition but it also lends to them being more anti-bacterial. I personally find them extra lovely 🥰

Not quite on the Chanel site. It keeps coming and going from nordstrom and it’s in Chanel Beauty boutiques but not on the Chanel website just yet

Rebecca i just got the chanel eclat de nuit today on chanel site. I have a chanel SA and she never got it in the chanel boutique.

Can you bring up an excellent point. I feel that some customers get preferential service but also some Chanel Beauty boutiques get preferential service as well. seriously.

I just Love these brushes!! Using mine right now. I’m very tempted to get a few singles… 🤔 But which ones? The T6 is such a good one! Would you say the Quad is more cool toned? ~CeCe 🌹❤️

I think the quad is a neutral but yes if anything cooler. Agreed. The T6 would be a great one to have a back up of.

P.S. I agree I wish there was a fusion version of T1 for lip application!! I don’t like thin, flimsy lip brushes either haha. Maybe Sonia will hear our prayers 😇

But I was trying to look up some info on Nordstrom last night, and I came across some people saying everything on Nordstrom's website comes from a physical store, that's why their shipping tends to be slow. Might be why it's being listed at all since Chanel so far hasn't sold it online in the US.

If I were cool toned, I would definitely buy that palette. It is really pretty. Unfortunately I am basically gold so I will have to wait for them to release something else. 😅

Same… I find this quad to look muddy and on me, it would make me look ‘dead’ or tired.. so I opted for a warmer /neutral from Chanel- and old standard that I’ve always wanted to try called “Clair Obscur”

@@NotFitforPrintBeauty Thanks, yeah that's a new thing for me because of doing my personal color analysis. I'm a true spring so everything has to be warm and saturated or it makes me look gray, older, tired and kind of sick. Then I put on my colors and it's like I have gained a super power. I wondered why I hated all my makeup for the last 2 years and why I always looked blah... I was wearing muted cool toned clothes. So anyway now I know I have to pass on like 90% of everything that is for sale and what I do buy is amazing- so like I have mentioned in previous comments I am spending all of my money on clothes now. It's because they really do something now.

Your crows are adorable! Crows are so smart! I want crow friends!!! Have they ever brought you presents? I’ve heard they do that for their friends! I’m excited to order the T5, T3, and the T1 today! I never order a whole set all at once, but those three shapes looked like I’d use them the most, but I love them all! Here’s my sad story for the day. My Eclat de Nuit was supposed to be delivered yesterday. It is doing that thing where it just doesn’t seem to progress on the shipping with no further info. It’s that frozen where it is thing. I’m so worried it’s now lost (and of course out of stock) so I’m never going to get it! I don’t want my money back, I want the quad! 😭😭😭😭 Keep your fingers crossed for me!! (And I hate this selling tactic of engineered scarcity)

Oh no. Has it shipped at all? It has, right? But it’s just like not moving right now ? You used Nordstrom, right? Their customer service is pretty top-notch. I wonder if an email might be a good idea at this point just so they could check it. But I agree with you. If it’s lost, there’s not much they can do because it’s gone. Let’s just hope it isn’t lost. That’s so frustrating. It just makes the experience even worse like salt in the wound The crows have not given any gifts. For some reason we have stingy crows. When I initially started feeding them years ago, actually during the lockdown at first, they brought me a tool. Like a stone tool that you could crack things open with type thing and I was so excited but since then, nothing. I’m sure they’ve also given me a bad yelp review for my service.

The heck with the Chanel quad- I agree with the commenter who said this marketing strategy of Chanel or other retailers is bonkers and a huge turn off. I’ll get a new Suqqu quad from Selfridges before my global subscription expires this year. Those brushes from Sonja G look stunning.. I love the ombré look to the bristles. I have a lot of her brushes and Rephrs too.. If I was to get one, which would you think would be useful? I have so many crease brushes… I have one little detail brush from Sonja G from the Sky set that I use every single day and would be open to something similar to that or ?

I have one cool one similar that is a Fude one I purchased from Japan - it has a beautiful wood handle not unlike these and the brush is wavy squirrel hair (I think?) it’s super soft!

I’m Curious about your thoughts with Sonja G sets, this set versus the fundamental set and fusion set. I always see her brushes come out and they are beautiful but expensive. I recently ordered some rephr brush sets, including their eye set. I obviously was also checking out the Wayne Goss sets too. can’t do them all but I’d really like to invest a little bit into the Sonja G so I would love your advice. BTW, Chanel is beautiful.

the nice thing is you can get Sonia’s brushes individually and I believe the cost is the same - as in no savings getting a set. In case you want to try different releases :).

Totally agree with Jenn. Super nice to cherry pick from different collections. But I gotta tell you, I love my Fusion brushes so much. Concealer and foundation application. Unbeatable and sky for eyes

Sick of the makeup companies playing games with the consumer. If people stopped falling for the games and did a NO BUY, they would stop the game. Shades come back and they pretend it’s a new shade, and then consumers ask them not to reformulate or discontinue something that people love and they are NOT listening to their customers. That goes for all of them!

Chanel. Eclat De Nuit eyeshadow quad is hard to find on line. I was quite lucky, I managed to stop by Macy,s Chanel counter and their agent told me they had 3 in stock. I think there were interest and hype in social media. For me this color quad is unlike I currently I have my collection. This color scheme can work out for everyday and glam party looks. It is sold out in Europe, Canada, UK and Australia. However, on eBay and other third party vendors is available for price about of $100 each. So no wonder sold out at valid Chanel and retail stores as third parties have hoarded the merchandise and flipped and added another $30 additional to prey some impulsive buyers.

That is definitely definitely true. The Chanel stores themselves hold them back for preferred customers. Others buy a ton and then upsell them on places like Mercari and such. It’s crazy

I'm shocked that you feed those crows! Those are really pretty eyeshadow colors but I wish that Chanel would quit using aluminum powder. Other companies do a fine job making their eyeshadows pretty and sparkly without using that.

I have a feeling Chanel will keep using aluminum powder just to make us all upset. They seem like they would have that attitude, don’t they ha ha. I don’t feed the crows too much at all. Because they’re wild and they have to be able to forage on their own but I threw out some peanuts every now and again and they like to crack open the shells.

@@NotFitforPrintBeauty Oh, I wasn't thinking about the crows needing to be self-sufficient. I was thinking about how there have been times that they have woken me up at dawn every day in the summer and that I would have been more likely to get a BB gun or an outdoor cat to try to deal with them rather than encouraging them to stick around by feeding them. Though I do know they are smart animals and probably could be amusing if looked at more tolerantly. I sort of agree with you about Chanel!
