One value in this video is how you discussed overcoming some roadblocks. I encounter those just about every time I work on my house. I'm planning to install a sliding patio door, so this video helps. Thank you.

installing new sliding doors is always good, but I want to share with you my experience, I live in Orlando Florida, I contacted the Masterslide company with the problem of my sliding doors (if you ask, I will share the contacts) they replaced the rollers, installed a track cover and a new handle with a lock. Now my door is like new and I'm as happy as a child! And most importantly, I thought that I saved more than two thousand dollars! Just because repairs are cheaper!))) so think before ordering new ones. This is not advertising, this is my case.

Good job with the door. Also, I like the contraption you have set up so Maki can wander around the backyard while still being tethered.

+cjlatina j YES! Its much safer(and easier on your back) to remove the heavy glass frames before trying to remove the original framing.

A big sigh of relief! I was hoping a few times that the sliding doors wouldn't collapse when you were holding them. New sliding doors look amazing!! 😀👍🏻 Love Maki's tethering contraption, am sure she'll get hours of fun in the backyard! 🐈☀️

Great Effort guys. Such good friends to help each other out ... Yes Yes I know this video is 5 years old but maybe you guys should have watched a KZread video or two and you would have maybe thought to remove the sliding doors from the frame on the removal and on the install to make your lives a whole lot easier. ... And Yes I know by now plenty of people have told you that already and I'm just one of those people. But seriously thanks for posting it anyway, people can always learn something whether it be what to do or what not to do it's still helpful. Thanks guys.

One question though. How well has the door held up? For that price I was a little skeptical but it had good reviews.

Only the slider comes out of that door but taking it out makes a huge difference. My son and I wrestled with the same door and once we took the door off life got much easier.

Paul G - Both doors will come out. The “non sliding” side is secured to the frame by a bracket and screw. Remove that and both doors can be removed from the frame.

Nice job getting that in. Look really nice. Great system for letting Maki roam within reason so she can't escape, but get her hunting itch scratched, It also saves you having to worry. You might want to invest in a stronger rope or metal wire. Those seem rather thin. If she decides to chew on them, they may not last long.

hell, you guys did great, but the kitty takes the cake! too cute!

I have seen dogs tethered that way, but first time for a cat. Love it, freedom for Maki, yet safety as well. Glad that trim could be used for a spacer so your new door could go in right away. So interesting to see all the changes.

Maki's guide cable is so funny... very smart guys!

You know it would be a lot easier to remove the door if you remove the sliding glass panels first. A 10 second google search will reveal methods that are correct and easier than this.

ratchet straps tightened at angles like that can easily loosen. Tie down with the shortest possible length out which is straight. Once a load is tied down stop after a mile and check the straps, always, to be sure they are still snug. Safe or sorry...

Remove the active door then stationary door? Its a lot easier and safer. The way you strapped down the door was wrong you're lucky the door didn't move around and get damaged. But you got the job done.

A tip for if you're moving glass things is to put a good amount of masking tape on it. Then if it breaks it won't go everywhere! Love your vlogs! Its so fun to see your house coming together!

omg.. this guy doesnt know what he's doing. the caulk is NEEDED to make the door watertight. the previous installation was the right way to do it. u need to CAULK inside the nailing flange so no water can pentrate into the door. and u use the flashing tape UNDER the nailing flange. i know u're a novice, but that contractor did you dirty

Absolutely not the way you remove a Slider Door, First step is to remove the panels, then remove the frame, the way you did it is dangerous and I’m surprised you didn’t hurt yourselves

By the way, that’s the wrong way to install it as well Take the panels out, plumb the frame, leveled the frame, measure the frame, then put the panels in You guys need to take this abomination down
