This is pure luxury. Reasonable and responsible luxury. Wonderful for 4 adult people and their luggage on a long trip. Superb in every aspect: Design, space, comfort, moderate performance and a fair price. My favourite extra would be the seat heating for the back passengers. It's a pity I don't need a car for four adults. I would like this real S class!

i'm late to the party, but i just wanted to say that i bought my 2017 2.0TDI (150hp) quartz grey Superb Limousine at 65.000 km in February this year. i started looking for big, but affordable cars back when my wife got pregnant and checked out a lot of car reviews. This reviewer (and channel) almost single-handedly persuaded me into buying a Superb over a used E-class, 5 series, Mondeo or Passat. My Superb Style variant's got p. much got all the extras the L&K would have, apart from the DCC and soundsystem. I'm enjoying the car a lot, and in retrospect, the only thing i'd change is going for the 190hp version instead - but i'll probably bring it to the shop in the upcoming months and get it up to that level. in short: thanks Autogefühl.

The exterior shape reminds me of an A6 or maybe a Q7 at the rear, you can definitely see the V.A.G coming through in Skoda now

Just like the predecessor, this estate version looks better than sedan. Great value for the money.

***** Sound insulation is good, it's just that all Volkswagen corporation Golf models have that 'bumping' on the rear axle when you go over some bumps. Doesnt really matter technically, but is a lil bit annoying ... same for Octavia, Golf and Leon. But in general, I can really recommend those 3 cars

Thanks for review Thomas. Back door max. opening memory exists on first combi with electric door as well. And safety protection works! Also , the floor with folded rear seats is absolutely flat in previous model. Here is not ;-(

Dont wave around with the foot. Slowly "kick" underneath there without touching it. Works everytime with my car

Volvo electric seats have manual back rest release, so there are two levers underneath the rear side of the passenger seat, where the seat rails are, you pull those and the seat goes down, i don't know about the superb, but you can check that area...by the way, great review, the new superb looks superb/awesome:)

The brands are changing the concept of the sedan, and that is great for the consumers, Probably de combi versons of Mondeo, Superb, and others, will start to drop sailes. No comments on the trunk any more :) thanks for showing.

Thomas, again, I love your detailed reviews! Shame we don't get many wagons here in Canada. The European makers don't usually offer the alcantara seats here either. (side note, elegant has a hard G like the word GO ;P although I love the way you say it as well. You are sounding French)

Thanks Thomas for the review. Personally Estates have never been my favourites. I like the Superb Sedan due to the design. Yes the hatch closing not being reversed when it detects an obstruction is surprising as most of the cars models - even Japanese are offering this. Looking forward to the Lexus car reviews!

Like I said before, contrary to the last gen, the sedan version looks better now in my opinion. Which is remarkable considering it's a transverse FWD architecture. Had they trimmed the inner window frames premium-style like Peugeot or Ford do, it would be absolutely flawless then again in dark grey metallic you won't notice.

Have a chance to buy a 2016 model of this with low miles dunno whether to go for the 1.4TSI from 21, 5 years older but the trim level is amazing and 276Bhp is very tempting! roughly same price.

Brill review as usual, Thomas is a great presenter. Was this filmed in Germany?

One of the more better reviewers out here on KZread, not too much bullshit. ;) So props to you and your team in the background of course! PS: A Skoda Sportline video would be nice in the brilliant silver colour, but I guess it can be shorter as there's not much difference to talk minutes about. Still veeeery few footage about the Sportline version of the Skoda Superb, unless the standard video they have about it ... Or it could be just me liking the Sportline version of the Skoda Superb much more. ;)

Watched the Kodiaq today, I'm not SUV minded though. So I'll choose the Superb over the Kodiaq but there where some nice things they added in the Kodiaq. Haha, be right on time then! Car saloon is in late January here, I'll be well informed then about the Sportline version! ;)

Hello sir, once again very nice review. Just some information for you. Sensor works only for opening back doors. You always have to press the button or the key to close it. But yes even when opening, you really need to know exactly where is the sensor as the range of sensor is really small and that caused it failed to many times. I personally tested both version last week. The only problém I see is the head room on rear seats. Sedan looks much pretier for me but head room is for me very disapointing. I am 189cm tall and it is really no chance to sit comfortable. In combi version I dont have same problem. I dont really understand why is it such a problem to make enough head room for Skoda even for sedan version. And here come my request for you. Can you please make comparison between new superb vs new passat. Just show the main differences. Would be amazing. Keep your great work sir, I am your big fan :) Roman from Czech Republic :)

More importantly, who cut the grass in the background and what mower did they use?

***** In China, we don't have TDI version, but there is two 2.0 TSI 200 hp version for estate with 6speed DSG, one I believe is premium, other one is L&K limited edition. Thanks for the reply!

Yes, Superb is realy Super car :-) But Super is too his smart features. It is Love it :-))

Superb review for the superb.... now Is the Smart link a valuable feature in new autos? yes I think it is very nice to have this feature... the pick is that after a year or two you can get easy bored from your every day infotainment system (regardless of the built quality) unlike smart phones software there are always something new always updates. I guess automakers did a smart job in targeting the link with smart phone apps to add a slightly customized look and it comes very handy and cost effective as well no need for shedding extra money over a built in navigator as you will have the google navigation. think you can get access to your favorite mobile apps including texting in a 8 inch screen at the long wasted time in traffic jam . whether it is smartlink or mirror link or car net or android auto , car play , hondalink...etc i think it is the future and i would certainly love to see your review

Hi specification Skoda, like this, comes very close to Audi A6 prices. The lower spec cars with 1.4 150ps has peerless value. It is quite a light car too for its size.

Great, detailed review as always and the car is a massive improvement on the previous generation. I would just like to ask about the glossy interior trim that you see in a lot of VW group cars right now. You have mentioned in one of your reviews that it is susceptible to finger prints, but what about scratching. How is it wearing over time? I am also surprised that manufacturers do not add the safety mechanism for the boot lid closing/opening. Having an electronic release and not adding obstacle detection feature seems a bit odd. By the way, have you checked the windows, would they stop closing if there is something in the way? Some of the new cars I have tried don't have this, while it is included in a trusty 10 year old Volvo that my family owns. Looking forward to your insight on this matter and again, great job on the review.

Great review! I have a 2014 Superb Combi L&K. Also that is a great car, and I understand that this new model has evolved even further. But, living in Norway I Wonder if this New model also will come in the "Outdoor"- Version? That is very convenient in the winter time :-)

The 1.6 tdi is fine too because of the DSG. Plenty for the Dutch roads

As owner of previous Skoda Superb Estate/Combi DSG.This car is simple best value for your money on market terms size of car price and quality. In 2011 i drove from UK to Greece and back and i enjoy it very much car was fantastic :) I would say that things i wish are bigger.4 example fuel tank only 60 liters.That could be bigger 70 or 80L.Look all cars under VW suffer from small fuel tanks Also more power that will (pock in eye VW and Audi) I can really feel the weight of car in corners partially in Austria when i was overtaking in corners back of car becoming nervus. Thomas l am SOLD. i like that i can now get 4x4 190HP DSG Estate. New car is lighter by 80kg and they offer bigger fuel tank as option i think which great:) Thomas thank you great review.

***** Indeed most of today's AWD systems are front + rear or rear + front if its needed and not permanent like in the good ol AWD times.

The previous Superb generation was sold much better as combi because of the design. The sedan version rear parts were just awful. Great review!

I'm really liking your reviews and have watched with great interest your videos on the new Superb. I have a 2010-version of the Superb Combi and are very pleased with it. One thing though that I am not pleased with are the head-room both in the front, but especially in the back. I cannot fit in the back an the head-room is too low for my 194cm. As I understand this is one of the improvements in the new Superb? I believe you touched on this in this video, but is it true that the head-room is better in the estate-version than the combi-version in the new Superb? Another problem for tall people in the old Superb is that the sight line from the drivers seat out the front video is obstructed by the inside-mirror when looking to the right out of the front window. Is this any different in the new version?

jtryland101 I found the seats a lil small for tall people. Headroom was very good imho, the estate offers more headroom in the rear, front headroom is both the same. But before buying/changing you should check it our yourself at the dealer. What is clear that you cannot go for the panoramic roof with 194 !

You forget, that seats in this trim level are ventilated, so your comment them beig hot in summer and cold in winter, are not exactly correct. I guess the problem with the boot door opening with your leg is, that you are not patient enough to wait it to start function. You should make the move and step back to wait for couple of seconds. Starting to play as Messi does not help ;). There's one not so funny aspect to these automatic doors. You really need to remember to close the central locking before you go to car wash, or it's going to be wet experience ;). And there's millions of us having dogs as family members, so liftback is not an option for us. I also happen to like more the look of estate version. I like your reviews a lot! Keep up the good work! :)

javimati80 Thanks! Actually the front seat is similar in both cars, in fact I would pick the sports seats in fabric the Octavia for the best result for tall people because there are no sports seats in the Superb (and the sports seats are better suitable for taller people)

***** Cannot agree more about the price/performance deal! Here in New Zealand the Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro starts at NZ$80k base (doesn't even come with Xenons standard!) while the Octavia 132 4X4 Elegance is around NZ$43k!! The gap gets even wider comparing A6 to Superb...

+pavelcernik Yes, probably, even though it's better than any car that sells in the US for less than 50,000 dollars in that sedan segment.

How much nicer is the interior than on a rapid for example?

There is 2 775 EUR price difference between L&K and Style level in Czech Rep. But you get almost 5 500-6 000 EUR more in optionals in L&K against Style. Everyone has to check if he needs adaptive cruise control, DCC suspension, self parking assistent, rear view camera, leather seats, etc. which are standard in L&K. If yes, it has no sense to take Style.

Did you try the safety protection on the automatic tailgate on the new XC90? Some people think it is too sensitive but it is much safer than this from Skoda!

Thanks ! The skoda's seller was not sure. He told me he was driving a Fabia with the ACC, but even with it he sometimes had to brake by himself to avoid the car going too fast while driving downhill. Other question : do you think the 1.8 FSI 180 hp with DSG is a smart choice ?

Don't understand the fuss for leather and the need to show as much leather as possible once the car gets more and more expensive. Looking forward to see memory foam seats replacing dead animals skin. Koenigsegg already implemented this technology in their cars and I can only imagine that they're brilliant. Thomas must be the only reviewer criticising the extensive use of leather in cars.

Really like this new Combi! But the brown interior on L&K just doesn't work with me, I preferred the grey leather they had on Octavias few years back. About the front seat trick, maybe you can fold flat (toward the back, as if you wanted to sleep) the upper part of the front passenger seat? Not fan of the crystal effect in the headlight, but that's about it. Cant wait to see and test drive the 280hp in France

***** I think it's the only way when the upper seat has too much adjustments. If you look at cars with flat foldable front seat: its has two axis of rotations, which must impact comfort badly.

I love this car the only thing I m worried about is ground clearance cars whit extremely long wheel base inevitably will have ground clearance issues

+niceguy60 Hmm yeah I had such problems with the Maserati Quattroporte. 3 m wheelbase lets it touch the ground in the basement garage ramp in the middle

You can order this car with 15 mm increased suspension and protector shields ('rough road package' in some markets). I really in love Superb and the ground clearance is the only thing I can complaint but with these package you can have a very practical car in everydays. Expecially in Eastern/Middle European roads where I roam the most. I would choose Škoda Superb with this package every time instead of an SUV!

Are there much difference between Passat and Superb in case of interior quality? Which would u choose? Passat or Superb?

Łukasz Witkowski The quality is both very good. I think it is more a question of styling, I like the interior styling of the Passat better.

How is this new superb holding up against the new passat regarding road noise and sound isolation? You mentioned that the passat was one on the most quiet you had tested

Hi. I had a test drive in one of those about 1 month ago and I discovered that after you get past 120 kmh/h on a motorway, then some strange noise appears. It was coming from side mirrors area and I think it was caused by wind passing by side mirrors. Was a bit strange because Octavia did not had that problem with so much noise from wind. It (strange noise) appeared only after 120khm/h. When I dropped the speed below that it disappeared again. Did You had that problem on Your test drive?P.S. Sorry for my English, I hope You understand what I am asking :)
