The thing to remember when building a security gate is to be SURE a fire truck can get through it. A gated subdivision near us made that mistake and had a house burn down inside because the fire truck could not get in to put out the fire. I am quite certain someone got sued.

Growing up in the country in the 60's /70's we always felt safe on my Grandfathers 32 acres and my uncles 80 acre dairy farm. So sad that this country has become the way that it has, that you have to secure your land. I feel sorry for this generation having to deal with this craziness and not being able to be a kid like we could just 50 years sho. God is in control, and that's my solice. Love watching your channel and if I was 30 years younger I'd be moving to an area like yours and doing exactly what you are doing. Your family is very lucky to have an amazing Dad,husband and friend !!

We only have 5 acres but it is one of the first things we did after moving in. We put in 6x6 posts and short fence sections, os if the horses get out of the pasture, they cant go far. We are inprocess of replacing all the fencing, its 30 years old! People do stupid things nowadays.

You need one of those lock boxes for packages. Secured to the ground.

Idea: build a simple "box" that sorta looks like where you would keep your trash cans for the delivery people to put your packages .... 1) they would be out of the weather & 2) people wouldn't see your boxes "hiding" behind the tree... My son-in-law did that for their packages and he wrapped up with camouflage car wrap and they put it about 100 yards inside their driveway behind some trees and bushes and it works great. They haven’t had a package disappear since he made it.

The entryway is looking great...maybe some beautiful flowering perennials around the post once it’s all finished? Just take your wife’s opinion and run with it lol

Daniel, I have to say, that painting mitt is pretty clever! I’m gonna have to steal that idea when the time comes and I have to do the same.

I’m thinking that side isn’t his property but I could be wrong, or there is an easement for the utility company . Seems like he said in previous video when he tore out what was there .

I like that someone put an angle on the top cross beam . That adds a touch of class to it. Weston has a good idea about going out for other sports can't hurt his scholarship chances.

I've been out of law enforcement nearly 20 years and I still watch for traffic violations. You can take the policeman out of the job but you can't take the job out of the policeman. Always on guard.

I noticed that and also when he said if a truck couldn't get under his 14'6" tall entrance it would be illegal anyway.

It is absolutely amazing the new equipment that is available to enable you to update your farm.

If you take cheap baggies and place them over the controls it'll help keep them clean.

My brother had a corral built and a area to work the cattle out of drilling pipe and stem. It was taken forever to paint with a brush!!! But finally we got some painting gloves. And the painting gloves are the only way to go! That gate looks really really nice! Y'all stay safe.

You don’t mess around! I like it. You could build a little house for UPS/FedEx to leave packages in, but you can’t tell from the main road that there is anything in it.

Will you be hanging your family logo on top pole?

You should build like a small doghouse/Guard shack for packages to be dropped in near your gate. Find an old security camera just to hang as a deterrent.

My dad is a master hunting safety instructor (he teaches the instructors) and has been doing it for over 18 years

Hi Daniel years ago I used plastic gloves inside of some work gloves to paint my wrought iron fence on my front porch! So much easier than using a brush

Looks good. Nothing wrong with hiring out. You should maybe build a box that can hold packages and give the ups/FedEx drivers a key to lock them in the box. Im sure you don't have theft problems but security is the key

The new gate is going to be great! Have you looked into a postal approved locking bin for packages? There’s a nice big one on Amazon for under $250. Bolts to the ground so it can’t be carried away.

Very nice welds, you can tell they do rhythm for a living. Never thought of using a paint mitt but I agree a roller gets a better finish

Nice job, that really looks sharp! Glad you took the time to paint it completely except the gate area. You should have a custom metal sign cut out made for the top of it with the "Arms Family Homestead" logo maybe paint it in a light brown to match the hat logo.

Got a few runs go extreme and add a bunch more and tell every body that was the texture you were aiming for. A master just knows how to make his mistakes look intentional.

You should leave the post tall and put an Arms Family Homestead sign up. Then again it might draw to much unwanted attention to your property and family.
