I learn a lot about herring fish! With preserve it with herbs! Add, baking soda, ginger to remove the odor of the fish!

Good episode! Fun to learn all about herring and how to prepare it in a variety of ways. Its such a great source of healthy omega 3 fats. :-)
Never seen mayo is a squeeze tube before.
a year-old pickle.. maybe it is possible in Norway and its temperature...

It's very possible to have a pickle last that long. They use salted herrings and make no mention of desalting them in a water bath like one would do to salted cod. If they didn't desalt it and used a very strong vinegar, the low pH and high salt content would kill most harmful bacteria.
