New Sako S20: Rifle Review

Today we're reviewing one of the newest rifles on the market, the new Sako S20. Featuring a completely new design, this rifle is a marked change from the Sako 85, which many people may be familiar with.
Rupert takes us through the main features of this rifle, including its many customisation options, the updated features from previous models, and how it stacks up against Sako's similar offerings.

    Really good review thanks, Just purchased an S20 and so far very pleased with it. Not had any issues with the magazine feeding that seems to have been an issue in the past, so I guess they have solved it. My rifle is in 6.5 Creedmoor with a shortish ( 17/18 inch ) barrel. and so far shoots very well. Only issue i would highlight is the cost of the Sako scope mount cost, although with the weaver rails pretty easy to choose alternative mounting.

    Very nice review. Very well done, and informative. I like the comparison with the Sako 85, which I think has some issues. Would love to see a Steyr M12 review.

    Awesome Content. Looks like they plan to have different thickness Forend Inlays gor different Dia Barrels or Carbon Fiber Barrels. Do You Know (Or can You find Out) if the Barrel to Action threads are the Same as M85 or Tikka T3, So one could change to a Proof Research Carbon Barrels prefit those ?

    Nice I have one in precision 7mm and I'm left-hand. It's sweet ,except for the rattle in the clip ,I fixed it with felt tape ,but shouldn't have to for the price 2500 dollars Canadian with tax, .

    Great video as usual. I wonder how this compares to the Bergara HMR?

    Do you know the barrel receiver threads per inch and diameter so I can determine whether or not you can get custom replacement barrels to fit the action?

    Great video - what are the downsides of the Sako 85 in your opinion? Very thorough review, and intriguing to hear that you see it as an improvement over the Sako 85. I have heard critiques of the new S20 would say that it is as much a Tikka as a Sako - a "Sikko" and the long action but not interchangeable barrel are cost-cutting measures compared to the 85 caliber specific action lengths.

    I’ve got a Sako 85. It ejects spend cases in a too upwards direction. What it means is that if your scope isn’t in high mounts the cases can hit the scope and fall back into the action. Also if you are too lazy with pulling the bolt back fast enough the case kind of falls back into the action even without a scope. I’m sure some 85 owners here will say it doesn’t happen to them. And I’m not saying it happens to all rifles but I bought mine, knowing the rumour was out there and sure enough it’s true in my case. Other than that I have no complaints about my rifle. It’s a kodiak in 375H&H The bedding he was talking about might make me hesitate to buy a 450rigby but I’ve had no issues with the 375. It’s a good gun with open sights and was not a problem when I had a higher mounted scope on it but I think a lower scope would be an issue.

    The Hunter grip is molded specifically for right handers yes? Would it be uncomfortable for left hand use? Would you try it and tell us how it feels?

    Depends on how fussy you are. It’s certainly doable but by no means comfortable.

    Are those really allen-keys to take the stock off? Those wear too easily if you were to dismantle the rifle to store it in a case all the time. Torx would last a lot longer IMHO. Other than that I really like the design, and groups with various types of ammo seem ok judging by other reviews.

    Can Sako S20 in .308 be both a range and hunting rifle?

  • @blueeyeddevil1

    @blueeyeddevil1

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, if you have both stocks and both fore-ends. For all calibers, it's a modular system that allows you to switch back and forth between a hunting setup and a precision setup (though the switching process, apparently, isn't super fast and easy). From what I understand, you buy the rifle as either the precision model or the hunter model, and you have the option to purchase the other kit if you choose to do so.
