I'm scared, too. It's not much better in Canada, either, since the majority of Canadians voted for Trudeau only because they didn't want to split the vote. This happened because we have first-past-the-post instead of proportional representation, so people who wanted to vote NDP or Green or PPC had no choice... they were forced to vote for the status quo.

He's been in office for 10 months? I didn't vote for Trump but I gave him a year to see his repeal and replace of ACA. I had many close friends who supported him after one rally and he was a non-establishment guy. I NEVER said he was not my president because I am not a child. I also think you can't claim failed president when he hasn't had a year yet. I have family in England and paid family leave, help with child care, and free Pre-K are great human investments that we as a society don't realize just how beneficial to the middle class American life they would be. And two senators jock blocking from his own party for their own special interests....they are making him look like nothing gained. But I believe what he is holding out for IS worth it.

That's less. 1) for the first 3 years of Trump's presidency, Covid wasn't around yet. It will be around for all of Biden's time. Context matters. 2) the virus has mutated into stronger strains, again because people are selfish and just spread it around. 3) Consider WHO is dying now. Nearly half the country willing refused to get vaccinated, and outside of cities people aren't wearing masks hardly at all. Again, letting is spread around. But please, blame Biden. We are stuck in a lot of this BS because of how Trump downplayed the pandemic. He didn't wear a mask, and mocked them. He called it a hoax and said so much bs, like to use bleach.. When he got Covid, he cost the tax payers around $500,000,000 for the treatment he got. Then he went around a few days later, endangering literally everyone around him. Never forget who put us here. If this does happen it would be wild. But I think it's probably a worst case scenario with a lot of moving parts. It would be the biggest and most incredible coup ever, so I think for it to actually go off well it would require a lot of things to go exactly right and assuming people are willing to come to Washington and actually bring the lead. That would take a big one, because people are all talk mostly, and who knows what other crazy political and health things will happen to the players involved, the U.S. and the world. We have a chance to quit bickering about inconsequential b.s., and figure out that we have more in common than what separates us. Why? What EXACTLY did Trump do that was so terrible? Peace deals in the Middle East, record unemployment, a controlled border.... such scary stuff! There are still dozens of school kids maroon & abandoned in Afghanistan, but I don't live in constant, paralyzing fear of whoever it is that owns Biden's mouth.... and whoever that is ought to get their money back. What scares me in how General Flintstone and the B.S. that evil bastard gets away with, with Demonrat blessing. If you are only care about Party and not the Country, that makes you Bad News, and when you go mad because your guy isn't in that Ivory Tower's corner office, that's your problem, NOT mine.

America in the last 4 years did not just lost all credibility abroad, it become so divided that is really difficult to fight something that should unite you like a pandemic. trump made America weak and if the population do not stand against what failed in 2020 but is being prepared for 2024 America will go from a semi-functional democracy to something similar to an autocracy.

@@QarthCEO The election had a great amount of anomalies that have been swept under the rug or outright lied about. Do you really expect media outlets like CNN to report claims of fraud? It’s important for all of us to at least entertain the idea that it is a possibility that partisan actors in positions of power are minimizing or outright denying clear evidence of fraud. I don’t think we will ever have a fair election again if this isn’t addressed. I’m not a Right or Left winger, I believe there is growing organized corruption in both parties. In my opinion this country is no longer a 2 party system - it’s a corrupt vs. uncorrupt system. If there was no corruption both right or left wing policies could be successfully accomplished.

If democrats get voted out of power, it will be because of Biden's unique unpopularity among Americans. He is currently at the same approval rating as trump had, but Biden doesn't have a floor. He may even drop into the 20s due to his failure in every aspect of his job. This theory makes no sense. 1. how is trump booting people from power, and replacing them with loyalists? trump has no executive power anymore. The voters elected those "loyalists" 2. it is extremely disingenuous to say "half of republicans support seceding from the union" in the same exact study a HIGHER PERCENTAGE of democrats want to secede. 3. this is the perfect excuse for Harris to throw out votes, and make Biden (and her, when he dies) the authoritarian dictators of America. Its two years later so I don't know if you'll see this but regardless I just want to say don't give up please don't give up I know it feels hopeless and for all I know it very well may be but thats the trick, trump and the people like him are doing theyre damndest to make things look as hopeless as possible so that people like me and you will give up in despair because once that happens we are no longer a threat, a hopeless person is nothing to be afraid of because they won,t stand up in opposition anymore they'll simply roll over and die. that's why its so important to never give up hope becuase the only way things will ever have a chance of getting better is if we consistently make small incremental steps forward if you do that than forget about everyone else you will come to abetter place. Tldr just please don't give up and keep moving forward stay safe and may god be with you. Have a good day

It's way past time for Democrats to find common ground. No more "Bernie or Bust." No more "you're not woke enough" or "you're too woke." We have a chance to quit bickering about inconsequential b.s., and figure out that we have more in common than what separates us. We're fighting for the very soul of this nation, and if we don't treat it as life or death, it may very well come to that. Remember what our forefathers fought for. Democracy isn't guaranteed. 🇺🇸

@Ivan Schlotzky They do, but both sides of the electorate don't suck equally... I prefer the side that lets me speak freely, and thinks that what I want should matter. We still have to fix our horrible political leadership problems, but at least we can do that together.

I’ve been watching this man since he was on ABC. He has been calling it for a very long time. This commentary has given me a knot in my stomach. I know he’s telling the truth. I’ve been seeing this since the Tea Party Days. It’s just a matter of time.

In the timeline of nations, our civil war wasn't that long ago by comparison. It's another reason the 2nd amendment stayed so relevant in America's violent cultural heritage. Sadly, this may just be part of the macro cycle of a Democracy. Revolution and evolution is the essence of our national origins.

If you're a teacher and cant see how different things are now than 150+ years ago I feel sorry for your students. There wasn't a domestic military known as the "police" in 1860. There also wasn't historical low testosterone levels. There wasn't obesity, there wasn't more women than men and there wasn't more old people than young people. There will be no civil war, unless you count people bitching as warfare.

You have enough fruit loops as it is.

Bill is a comedian, and his job is to tell jokes and make people laugh. But I hope everybody, especially the current administration and the DOJ takes what he said very seriously. If things go as they are, what he said could happen for real, and the last thing I want to hear him say then is "I told you so".

I love Bill but let's not forget the most dire prediction and warning (hope?) bandied about for a YEAR with all comparable seriousness was Trump would have to be physically removed from Office. He left early. And then "You" (Democrats) complained about his lack of following tradition. eyeroll Trump will not run again. Republicans taking over mid terms is on us (Democrats) because our message and product isn't selling. That demands a look inward; not this constant focus on what They are doing. The sooner we drop this hyper-PC bullshit the better. Yes; let's piss off a few million to gain tens of millions. Where those few gonna go anyway?????? Bill has done this kind of introspective rant on the current Democratic Party status. He needs to do it more frequently.

I've been telling people for the last 10 years that the Tea Party nuts weren't a joke. I was a teen then, but I knew enough history to know that people never change. Thankfully I was eligible for citizenship through descent in another country so I made my way out a year and a half ago.

And to claim he would seize power as challenger, when he could not even do that as incumbent (though I would even question if he actually tried) is paranoia level theory.

This is rather scary, my friend - and we must band together and fight these evil bastards from the Trump camp.

you know i love bill maher. i throuhely watch his youtube. everything that he is on i watch probably for all most a year now. yet why is today the first time i have ever seen "slow moving coup"

And all of this could be avoided if America would evolve past their 2 party system. This allows for more options for the public to find a political party that they can truly get behind without having to make concessions on ideas they don’t agree with. It also opens the door for coalition governments, where a minority party sometimes backs the party in power to push through policies both parties are in favour of but the minority party can also put some restraints on the party in power on issues they disagree with. As long as America has a system of you’re either with us or against us, integration of people will never again exist.
