Cool cat! Set a tight budget and build it for fun, I'd use the van V6 and trans and make it dependable and ratty.....:)

CHOP IT!!! put a floor stock bbc or sbc 700r4 u can get a chevy v8 and trans for cheap. keep it simple kinda like a car version of a bar hop bike. leave it ratty and enjoy it. NO 6CYL dude that van is sooooooo cool I remember those back in the mini truck days

Do a whole series on it cheap bill $500 total thousand dollars total something like that👍

I considered chopping it, just don't know if I want to get that deep into it. Lol Plus I don't have an english wheel to build the filler panels I'd need. Guess I need to buy one...

Looks like a fun project, Idk what part of the country your in but the latest trend out here in the Southwest/West is taking these Post War cars and putting them on late 70's'mid 80's full size car/wagon frames and using the power train from the 70's-80's car. It's a CHEAP way to build a Hot Rod/Restomod because the donor cars for the frame are dirt cheap and the wheel bases and frame lengths are pretty much spot on so there's very little modifications you have to make to the body or the frame, I live out here in the Southwest Triangle, Northwestern Arizona/Southern Nevada/Southeast California and have a friend that's in my car club that built one for less than a thousand dollars minus the paint job after everything was said done because he sold everything he didn't need from both cars.

If it wasn't already bagged and didn't already have a Mustang ll suspension installed I'd definitely be putting it on a G body frame or an S10 frame. I probably have enough stuff to build the car without having any money in it. I sold the front bench seat out of it for half of what I paid for everything. Lol

@@SawKustomz Yep that's the way to do it, He paid $1200 for the donor car and drove it home. Idk what he bought the 52 Fleetline for but it couldn't have been much because it was just the body but was the whole body, it's 100% original body and panels. He's going to paint it 2 tone grey with a dark red pinstripe because most of his interior is dark red so that's what the colors he's going with, grey and dark red.

People out here in the Southwest are scooping up this Astro vans and putting them on 4WD truck frames and building cheap Overlanders out of them.

Yeah I've seen a few done that way. I think they might have made some astro vans four wheel drive from the factor. I could be wrong, but I think they did.

@@SawKustomz They never made a 4wd, they did make an AWD version though and they were junk, the AWD system sucked and was always breaking, you could use them as a Ovelander but it's easier and cheaper to just go buy an late Squarebody/OBS 4wd truck and slap the Astro Van body on top of it because the AWD system for those vans was just god awful and required alot of maintenance.

It would make a great guinea pig for a lace roof concept ... just saying

I did a ton of work to the van, it's bagged, sheet metal ground effects, Volkswagen headlights, 50 Pontiac taillights, wood floors, custom built metal dash, custom built speaker boxes and sound system. I drove it for a while and lost interest in it.

Throw a sweet a paint job on it & the SAW Kustomz Logo on it & use it as merch van at shows! Honestly with some fresh paint you could probably get some good money for it. I have more people ask me about that van we got from Gordy then any other thing I’ve ever owned.
