I had the pleasure of running Autobahn Country Club's South Track in Joliet, IL for the second time this season testing out some setup changes and more power to best my previous time. This event was organized great and had tons of friendly instructors and fellow drivers, super recommend RevMatch Track Days if you are in the Midwest area.
In terms of the vehicle, we are still running the Yokohama Advan Apex V601s in 255/35/18 along with EBC Yellow pads and Motul RBF600. Since the prior event I've been tuned by Graham at Boosted Performance for an est. 300whp, 360tq (up from 255whp/256tq), added protoype Boomba Racing Brake Deflectors and adjusted alignment for significant front camber to make the stance -2.6 degrees all around (to mitigate tire wear from positive camber in right hand turns).
All in all, the car handled incredibly well and we kept oil temps sub-260F the whole day in 85F weather. Front camber helped the cornering abilities a ton and I was able to beat my previous time at Autobahn South by 2.12 seconds for a best time of 1:45.44 (according to TrackAddict, timing the GoPro footage nets a time of 1:45.10 but I'm not gonna make a deal about it lol).
This track is moreso about the corners and less about speed so getting the tune, while helping significantly in exiting corners and on straightaways, didn't account for the major improvement. I was able to work with Matt from TF-Works in Des Plaines, IL who volunteered to ride along with me and who led our "lead-follow" sessions, his experience and guidance definitely led to smoother engagement and a more well-rounded driving line through the course. Big shoutout to Alex Ramos and Jeff Du who came out with me for this very hot but very fun track day!
