I've had that tool since 2002. If you turn the drill on its side and run the tool on less of a 45 it cuts smooth and won't leave marks on the tin

I agree 100%. I've had and used this tool for several real years. I love it. And I almost always have the drill on it's side. I'd like to see some sort of slide on attachment that would allow o e hand operation.

All these tools laying around and you can't find a clamp to hold down that piece of material! Come on now! Haha.

Fellas...I used the new Milwaukee fish tapes today(we got 5!!!).on the job...really light weight,worked great...now comes the test of time

I’ve used both. I own the dewalt because I didn’t want to spend the extra money on the stabilizer attachment. As a union sheet metal worker I cut a lot of taps into our duct. It’s easier and cleaner to use my reds(snips) on 24 and 26g galvanized. 22g and thicker can suck, especially if you’re cutting overhead that’s where I think this tool shines.

Hey Vince, thanks for the VId! Just wanted to add. When using this tool, you tilt the shear a little to the right and it cuts fairly quick and easy especialy when doing collars as you mentioned, especially on a trunk line already assembled. Also. You mention the adapter is two handed operation. Once the shear begins to cut, you can operate it with one hand while keeping the correct tilt on it. P.s. you can use it on an impact but it vibrates way too much!!! Thanks again

It goes a heck of a lot faster than that you had it at the wrong angle. it's okay happens everybody when they first get the ts1 . But after you're used to it you don't need to even hold that handle you'll be able to make turns and cut round holes or square holes for duck with one hand no problem drink coffee with your other hand. LOL

We use the malco shear attachment doing furnace and ac installs. Really hard to cut sheets of sheet metal but amazing for anything stable.

I used it when I was cleaning AHU and air duct for hospital. One of the best tools I had on the field. You make cool video 👌 keep it up

I like the 2 handed operation of the malco for intricate design availability because you can turn the malco as your moving but the dewalt is better for strait cuts in my opinion

That’s exactly what I use when doing HVAC sheet metal the Milwaukee hole saw and the malco shear 👍🏼

hvac fella here. these are excellent for straight cuts best. for cutting out collars we use the malco whole cutter

Hey man I love the video👌🏼 I’ve been doing a lot a lot of roofing atm and we have been use of shears to do angled cuts but it’s so hard to move it up and down the ribs of the roof sheets do you know is any shears that are recommended for roof sheets ???

Hay Vince,. I use the Malco TSHD. My version was about $90.00 plus tax at JWB supply in Lisbon Ohio and I use it on a Metabo impact . Its an older version, but works great on barn metal. Thanks for the video sir.

I think I like the Dewalt one better. I'd love to see someone put out a shear that will do 14GA Haha that's what we use a ton of at my work. I know our guys hate having to switch discs on their grinders or even break out the torches haha

I have both versions and I actually have a sheet metal nibbler also. However the ts1 is what I'm always grabbing at. In my opinion is much faster and easier and produces a cleaner cut. But I can't say if that's true for a newbie because some people when I hand it to them they can't even get it to go because they just don't hold it right I don't know that hurts my eyes to watch them. Lol

Yeah, when someone goes over a angled profile in metal roofing they have to tilt the cutter to keep it flat or else it'll cut slower and even jam.

I have that Malco ts1. Turboshear first edition I told y'all about it in the comments on the DeWalt shear video. I've had the ts1 for right at 20 years.

@@VCGConstruction well I have the ts1 and the tshd1. tshd1 will easily cut 18 gauge and it has the strap that it goes onto the drill like your DeWalt unit does but I don't like it as much as the ts1. the original ts1 in my opinion is faster and more versatile and more nimble allowing for more options and more options faster, once you get used to it. They do have for about $25 or so a kit that goes on the ts1 that will attached to the drill body kind of making it like your DeWalt unit and kind of like the tshd one but it's not going to make it go from 20 gauge to 18 obviously. I also have the tscm for corrugated metal and that's really nice too. Malco has all different kinds of turbo shears. they've got some for asphalt shingles and all kind of stuff but they get quite expensive. Out of the three that I have I always go for the ts1.

I have been using mine on my m18 gen 2 impact for literally 3 years no issues

in my mind i see useing the dewalt for straight cuts and the malco for the others since it spins

I do residential and commercial HVAC installs and own this shear head, I use it everyday religiously almost, best $40 dollars I've ever spent! Love to 2 handed use, for those tight spots, would recommend to anyone in the trade!

Just for all out there, Malco does make sn attachment for securing it to the drill. I have one. Its rasy to take on and off. It's a good addition.👍

I work in the HVAC industry. Had this for a couple of years absolutely amazing. I put it in my drill now instead of my impact.

Malco shears are great I have a pair of them for years

I was wondering what if one placed tape from the cutting add on to the drill and back again. It seems like it would be a cheap solution to the problem. Seems like a interesting tool accessory to have , just wish I really needed it.

I am getting ready to purchase another Malco Turbo Shear, the one I am replacing is 20 plus years old and is finally worn out, tried a Dewalt and the Malco is hands down superior, easier to use and cuts better!!

I use the Malco shear. I already had the drill and there comes a point when you have to start to limit the number of dedicated specialized tools you bring on the job, especially for resi work. Another fun HVAC attachment is the C5A2 turbo crimper.

Malco has a hole cutter. I would us this attachment for cutting the return for the furnace

Malco TS1 I LOVE IT, Will not work without it EVER

The malco is better at cutting holes in difficult spaces on ductwork because you can manipulate the angles of cutting using you drill of stubby impact..

I have both the dewalt with the attachment and the malco with the handle it depends on what I am doing on which one I use. They are both great the dewalt lives on my drill cause I am a hvac installer if I had to get rid of one the malco would have to go

Vince I would’ve let you use my TS1 man I only use it for cutting returns on a furnace it leaves jagged edges

I'm with you Vin, the circle and radius cuts would probably be a plus with motion and two-hand app. This is definitely a hack tool for guys who occasionally cut flat metal but arent using everyday. EXCELLENT VIDEO again. #anotherone

Looks like the battery can get in the way on the DeWalt. You can run the Malco with the drill in its side.

I have a Shear that's called a Mack with $179 Canadian. I use it to do steel cladding on buildings. Dave from Guenter Done Building

If you install a lot of furnaces, it makes cutting the hole in the furnace for the filter rack a breeze

you have your good and bad with all tools. Love the channel Vince keep it up

I'd like to see a revamp of this video with the attachment that stabilizes the Malco turbo shears to your drill so you can use it one-handed and Malco also has another Shear attachment that turns your drills into double Cuts instead of the single cut shear which also has the attachment so that you can use it one-handed

No I hate the two hand operation, my company issues us the Malco. I went and bought the dewalt cutter so I could have a fixed shear (I’m an hvac tech)

Good video, Vince. I work with sheet metal for a living, and didn't realize these attachments even existed. 👌🏼 Could be useful, but a power shear definitely fits better in a shop, mostly because of it's ability to shear thicker materials than 20 gauge.

These things save my wrists at work day in and day out. Top ten tool accessories I own for sure.

Have one, used it. Hand shears are usually quicker and handier. Grab a good pair of 45s and you'll be fine.

They do make another version with attachments but now they sell an attachment piece for this specific model . I think lol I’m the pictures online for this specific model some pics show it with an attachment piece and others do not . Now before I seen this ts1 I looked at there other versions and seen there attachments but for sure they are different model’s different look of the tool itself so that being said maybe they sell an add on for this exact model ts1 . I just got the ts1 from Home Depot cost 65$ now but hoping there’s an adapter attachment online . Tho I do agree it could be a plus or minus as you said anyways, cool video you kept it interesting. Kind of hard to keep a video about a simple tool like this interesting but you did well thank you.

I knew I clicked on a older video, but I didn’t know i clicked on a video Vince made when he was in his 20’s hahaha damn doo growing a tree of youth in his backyard. On that malco turbo shear(s) I use those dang things everyday, they also have turbo crimpers that are nice

I do HVAC and use this tool often and without it, lets just say my forearms would look like popeye's. That being said, ita an awesome adapter and makes my jobs easy!

Just use a pair of aviation snips by Swiss for 20$ works much easier. And straight bulldog snips for straight cuts. Much cheaper and better cut. Tinknocker

I do hvac as well an this tool saves alot of time. Been using it for around over a year and it's the best investment I've made in my tool bag.

Agnostic means without knowledge. Been a little over dramatic there that tool works really good and cuts way faster than that well worth the 50 bucks

Busy with the Malcolm you'll be able to get into tighter spots because the drill could go sideways it's DeWalt you can't because the battery will be in the way

you dont have to have the clamp attached to the tool with the dewalt but it is nice to have that feature unlike this one. the arm/clamping mechanism can swing/pivot around and actually get into way tighter spaces than the malco.

I know I can cut faster with my big tin scissors but I'd like to save my body. Just bought the ts1 so I can't leave a review yet. Not sure if a tin shear drill can cut curves or a 90 degree angle but I have tin snips for that. Also I bought the ts1 because I was given an Amazon gift card so why not try them

I can tell right away that this wouldn't work well because it requires both hands. That means you can't hold your material steady. I suppose you could clamp it down, but that's not always possible or convenient.

You don't have to push on it just guide it and it will propell itself forward.

I literally thought this is a super old video! You look at least 10 years younger!

I bought the Malco used it today to cut out a 23x16” hole in my return duct! The tool sucked! Had to use my hand snips to clean up the mess! What a crappy tool! Maybe it’s better when cutting on a flat service! My 26” wide return Duck is mounted in a vertical position! Now I’m concerned using it to make the cutout in my new AirQuest 28” wide furnace!

The other Malco shears are awesome but the best shears on the market are Milwaukee I got both malcos and the Milwaukee and the boys at work have the Makita shears and they are rubbish
