For new players: Don't forget your helmet when you go to and from your ship on a station landing pad. You are in vacuum and you will suffocate and die if you aren't wearing your helmet. Also, I learned a few days ago that some helmets (Kastak Arms Calico according to the SC Wiki) are only rated for in Atmosphere use. Meaning if you wear the wrong helmet in space vacuum you will still suffocate and die. Some helmets are just armor.

Is there like... a reason to have this mechanic? Like is there some kind of particularly interesting interaction or gameplay dynamic relating to this, or is this just one of those bothersome mechanics fOr rEaLiSm that just ends up getting in the way of seamless gameplay? Because it *sounds* like it'd be the latter...

@@Trepanation21 Why have storms? Why have cold or hot temperatures that can kill you? Why have falls that can kill you? Why have NPC that can kill you? Every game should just be tetris. That was a perfect game, except for the bothersome mechanic where it sped up.

I was following your guide in real-time, I finally made it to the space station marvelling at the graphics and atmosphere, then when I went to set my ship down on the landing pad, watching you do it effortlessly, I pressed something and zoomed head first in to the space station and I blew up. 10/10 first experience! Thankfully didn't lose all that stuff purchased from the store but I have to fly back out again. Thanks for this guide, it's really helped me out, I must work on my flying, I got something wrong somewhere I guess!

That's basically what I did during some holidays I had a few months ago (on the 3.14 patch). I've been a backer (and monthly subscriber) since 2014 and I'd only played a couple of times in the hangar module and arena commander, and then decided to wait for the PU to release. I hadn't played the PU at all at that point and I suddenly decided it was time to check it out. It was 9am on a Monday morning and no one else was around, so I loaded up SC and played continuously for the entire day, even forgetting lunch until like 3pm. I took my time and enjoyed the detail in the environments around Lorville before eventually figuring out how to get my ship and fly. That was a great day. Definitely recommend making sure you don't feel like you've got other things to do when you decide to check out SC. Find some time to relax and not worry about how long you're in the game.

Also another tip for starting players. Delivery missions will often take you yo aid shelters. While they can be dangerous in and of their own via no armistice zone, the bonus is that they usually have loot boxes inside right next to where you drop the packages. UPDATE: Some of the menu options have changed since he made the video. Biggest issue I've had so far 15:16 is buying the gun. I can't buy it because of "insufficient space" You have to exit the purchase screen, then re enter it. In the top left corner is "choose destination". Change it to the station. Then buy the gun, exit the screen again, hit "I" and you should see your gun on the right, which you can double click now to equip onto your armor which is exactly where it just said "insufficient space" but it works for me.

This helped immensely. I had the same Insufficient Volume issue. Your workaround solved it easily. Out of curiosity - did you start with 5k or 25k aUEC? I started with zero when I was supposed to start 5k or maybe 6k. Wrote to them and the next day when I logged in - I had 25k. According to the people on the chat, 25k is the norm now apparently. If that is the case - did you buy arm and leg armor? Anyway, cheers for the help.

@@eddiek8179 Sorry for late reply I just saw this. I think I started with 5k. It hardly matters the game is complete trash. I quit playing in about 5 hours of game play or so. MULTIPLE game breaking bugs persist. Upon research I find that these bugs have been in the game for literally YEARS and the devs don't seem to give a flying fck about it as long as they keep selling the game to people that don't know any better. MAJOR ISSUES: 1) Walk into elevator and fall through floor, only option to reset at your bed losing everything. 2) Land on a planet and after parking and powering off the ship you walk off only to look back and see your ship floating away like a leaf in the wind, only option to reset at your bed losing everything. 3) Get on monorail and at destination doors simply will not open, you are trapped, again only option reset at your bed losing everything. 4) Ransom and frequent LOST CONNECTION TO SERVER, yet again only option, repawn at bed losing everything. (I play many other online games, I have never seen this kind of connection issue so its not on my end) After 5 hours of beating my head against a wall of non stop game breaking bugs I was done.

@@crusherrr1753 - TL:DR - worth trying, but don't spend too much on it. Play with friends otherwise the game'll suck more. Tarkov has been my main game for a while. A wipe and one of the biggest patches happened a month into my Star Citizen purchase, so I haven't had time to play it much. You almost have to play SC with friends - otherwise the long distance travel and frustrating bugs will crush you. At least with friends, you can laugh about the bugs and chat while you watch your ship cruise in auto-pilot for 10-minutes. We do miss SC and talk about how great of a game it can be, so there's something there. It'd be impossible to argue currently that it's a great game. I'll turn back to SC after Tarkov.
