New piano music for teenage / adult students - Three Questions for Solo Piano (w/ intro by composer)

Sheet music (pay what you can): payhip.com/b/e...
These short pieces are designed to appeal to teenage or adult piano students who have been playing for at least a year or two (approx. grade 3-4 standard). Each piece is a single page in length and all three pieces are linked together by their use of a rising and falling scale. I wanted these pieces to be accessible to everybody, so the sheet music is available on a pay-what-you-can basis. Download the music for free or, if you can afford to, pay what you think the music is worth. Enjoy!

Beautiful. I actually read the title wrong and thought it was 3 questions for a teenager 😂. Love the colours on the sheet music.

Wow, this is a great initiative! Was there any specific reason you went with the scale traveling up a 10th in particular? I'd be interested in hearing a bit more of your reasoning. The ending of the first piece actually has the same starting melody as Errorless Freedom. I think the first one might be my favourite of the three. The first two pieces sound very pensive indeed! The third sounds a little less pensive to my ears, though your clever use of dissonance does keep me on my toes. ;) That said, I also really like your instructions for the third piece ("With growing serenity"). I also think the piece does evoke a bit of a regretful mood, which does fit the theme.

Thank you, Pjotr. Honestly, there was no reason about going up a 10th in particular. It just sounded right to me at the time! And you know, I didn't even notice the similarity between the ending of the first piece and the starting of Errorless Freedom - unconscious self plagiarism at work!! The dangers of being a composer...

@@GregHarradineComposer Haha, it's still better to self-plagiarise than plagiarising others. ;) There were composers, like Gershwin, who did that a lot on purpose, actually! I hope to be able to self-plagiarise in the future, haha.

@@pjotrkolster Yes, that's true! I was reading recently about the self-plagiarism of certain opera composers of the 19th century, when there was a high demand for new operas. Once a few years had passed some composers would recycle whole arias from their previous operas into new ones. I think Donizetti was particularly guilty of this.

This sounds lovely, I’m interested in composing piano pieces. If you don’t mind me asking, did you study in a music school in order to do this?
