Probably because the spider emblem on his chest (in this case, to the sequels of the movie) is very similar to the spider emblem on the back of 2002

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again… I really want Tobey’s first suit as DLC or in Spider Man 3. Probably called the “Original Webbed Suit” or “Throwback Suit”

This has always been my favorite version of the Raimi Spider Suit. SM2/SM3 looks pretty good, but the 2002 version looks so much cooler because it gives me some strong and cool "Comic Book Accuracy" vides.

12:02 That guy came from around the truck like “Sorry I’m late it’s a jungle out there I had to beat an old lady with a stick to get this semi automatic rifle what I miss?” Proceeds to get beaten half to death by Spider-Man.

To take it one step further, replace some of the sound effects from this game and putting in the ones from the movie video game (on PS2) would make it insanely retro.

Gotharust did an spectacular model for the 2002 suit, hopefully someday it'll get ported to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC

Idk if it makes a difference but watching the behind the scenes stuff they mentioned how the suit in Spider-Man 2 was made using a cheaper process that wasn’t as good but it let them make more of them and was cheaper. I wonder if that adds to it.
