My first game of admech I forgot almost all of my detachment rules as well as unit (and especially leader) abilities. It was still a pretty close game against my friend's pre-codex, index 10th edition orks. When we play again, he'll have his codex and I'll have my rules down a little better. It's a fun experience playing a new game.

I’m not gonna lie, my Paint scheme for the custodes is almost identical and i straight up did a double take- like when did my solar watch end up over there. Still I can live vicariously through nick and pretend it’s my army getting the ever loving snott kicked out of them

Your wealth of game play experience and technical play was enough to make you look like a veteran of the 10,000. I hope you keep playing them and grow your collection! I'm painting my Trajann Valoris later tonight/tomorrow and I already preordered a combat patrol of Custodes as well! I just got all the paint to paint them as solar watch with royal purple accents as well! Once I saw the notification, I knew I had to watch!

I wasnt sure how well Silver and gold together would look on them but now i see it very much looks amazing without detracting from the classic iconic look of the custodians. this just made me a whole lot more excited to finish painting my custodes

@@jordanrogers369 fyi, solar watch have white/ivory coloured armour and red detailing. The Aquilian Shield are clad in gold and purple like you see here, I have mine painted the same way because the lore is cool

I think this is what makes Orks one of my favorite factions. The sheer absurd amount of dice you get to roll is amazing.

I had to explain to coworkers today just how much of a 40k nerd I am when I shouted out in excitement that there is a new custodes 40k in 40min, so happy I want more

Green tide has really become what the death guard wish they were lol.

Personally I disagree. The way it is now where you can do vehicle or infantry, rhinos land raiders allows for a lot of versatility. Plus mortarion ignoring modifiers with indirect fire is a thing

It wasn't a terrible loss. They may end up being sub-50% win rate in the tourney scene, but I'll reserve judgement for casual play after a few games

I never thought watching other people play and paint miniatures could be so satisfying.

At 11:55 James says you can reroll charges on your waaagh turn, I think he meant advance+charge unless i'm missing something about the new codex.

Loved this battle! watched live from the uk and being able to talk to nick in chat about his custodes was great! and ben did excellent on the editing front as always

The Custodes got nerfed _hard_ in my opinion. I played against a 10 year veteran today as a 5 month, 10~ games, 1 win player with space marines and while he did ultimately kick my ass, it was very heavily in my favor for a long while. My list was: 2 Gladiator Lancers 1 Redemptor Dreadnaught 1 Tech Marine 5 Terminators 1 Terminator librarian 10 Infernus 1 Captain 1 apothecary 20 Intercessors (in 5 man squads) 1 Lieutenant 1 Chaplain (each leading 1 squad a piece) 5 Infiltrators 3 Eliminators 1 Phobos Librarian 1 Vindicare Assassin 3 Inceptors 2075 points vs almost exactly 2,000 points in Custodes. Up until round 4 I was _winning_ and I wiped about 2/3 of his army. As an extremely bolter heavy, slightly psychic army. Final tally at the top of his turn round 4 (I went first) was like 63 to 32, but that’s cause he scored like 25 points _in my turn_ through Assassinate + his Command Phase related objectives. Before that I was slightly ahead.

Never been a big fan of the Custodes, but those look superb! That colour scheme really suits them, especially on the tank!

That was the very first time I've seen Da Orkz beat the custodes.

Talons of the Emperor! Shame they got a *terribad* codex in this instance. Orks got such a better codex. Why do I love my elite armies so, given how badly GW handles them :) (And how GW refuses to make Eldar a real elite army, but that’s another rant…) The Ork Codex feels really nice, though, much needed for them! Not a match I could watch to the end, though, it was just absurd how many attacks the orks were throwing around relative to Nick’s Custodes - although I will admit his list clearly needed more troops, those jet bikes look awesome… but I would never field them.

This one confused me too. Strat doesn't say anything about allowing to move into engagement range; and rules on movement specifically say you can't move into engagement range.

A lot closer than I expected. When the Custodes starting falling I thought they wouldn't have enough attacks on the board. As it was, a couple of different choices by Nick could have clinched it.

What's the music that starts at the beginning of turn 3? It sounds very familiar but I can't place it.

Considering this was Nick's first game with the golden boys: Well done! Imagine what he might be able to do with them with more games and experience under his belt (and better rolls. ;)).

Most games I've seen of the new codex is custodes basically getting tabled. Not looking good for them

Ah, the Cuss Toads, maybe not as well known as the standard custodes, but far better at parties.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but when the boyz moved into the tank after being flamed by the dread they were then shot by the bikes. However, the boyz are in engagement range, they can’t be shot anymore

Wait so on round one when the boyz piled in on the guard James left some boyz on top of the building, is that ok to do? Just curious I know he has a lot of them and space is tight but does it work like that? 9:10

It's on specific cards. Engage On All Fronts, for example, says "If, when you draw this secondary mission card, you only have one or two qualifying units remaining in your army, you can discard this Secondary Mission card and draw a new Secondary Mission card." Not every card has that though.

James, brother you have to read the pain boy data sheet. You not only missed the d6 mortal wound Urty Syringe on a 4+ for infantry, and I swear I didn’t see painboy boyz regen once (the Grot wargear not the strat). Also reroll saves of 1 for units with 10+ models? I think you missed that rule hahaha. Obviously it’s just game, we’re just having fun, but man, those are some important rules.

It's possible that they just didn't show it in the edit, since there's already more than enough going on, and they need to try and condense 2+ hours into about 1/3 of the time.
