New Order Amsterdam Paradiso, 1984
Музыка
A trip to the Netherlands finds our heroes playing Decades and Love Will Tear Us Apart. A rare performance of Skullcrusher with lyrics begins the gig. From a second generation audience recording. Sound is not too shabby from an ancient cassette recording. Enjoy!

You da true MVP
Was there in this iconic church slash concert hall in Amsterdam and I remember clearly they were playing for themselves and thus remembering their friend that committed suicide exactly four years before the concert. One of the most impressive concerts I have ever been to in my life...

Had a bootleg recording of this on a cassette and played it forever as a student. Decades is a masterpiece!
I WAS THERE! And seeing them again after 35 years on october 17 in Amsterdam😁
Saw them 3 weeks later at the Birmingham Powerhouse. Still love this period of their live performances.

Hate to be a heretic here but I'd put this performance up against Ian's. Too bad NO has not played this again. They could have eliminated all the stupid mistakes and made this into one of their best live songs. Love the guitar.

nah mate, it is what it is. Its pretty great ... JDs versions were pretty shoddy in my book... NO had a few years to polish it up :)

Skullcrusher was only ( track 12) on Salvation music CD. 1988. It was a film directed by Beth B. This gig was probably one of the favourites on fans list as essential bootlegs of any interest. I saw new order in Frankfurt, Germany in 84' They played Skullcrusher in their set. 🥁🎸🎹🎤🍻
Most bands have about 6-10 songs people really like. Not these guys. There are more than that from just Joy Division.
I was at this concert. Have a first generation recording 😜

That's funny, the picture you see at 30.14 was taken by my brother. Is it a mystery to me how this picture came to this video compilation?

It's on the Salvation soundtrack along with a few other less known songs (and instrumentals of songs). It's a crap movie, but the New Order songs on the soundtrack make it well worth tracking down.
Lucky bastards. I saw them the same year in NYC Forum. It was good but not even close to this one. Song selection is superb here. The only unusual thing in the Forum was that public forced them to do encore. How about 40 minutes wait? People refused to leave the house. But still the best is NYC Ukrainian Taras Shevchenko house in 1981.

AG, was that the Felt Forum gig? It sounds familiar about the encore part but I saw them for Low-Life in 1985 where we waited and they did, I think Sunrise with all the lights on. They left after with their guitar and bass still on. A Certain Ratio supported them. Lemme know...
