New Opel Astra J - Rear Watts link axle

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

While the chassis has the proven McPherson strut layout at the front, Opel engineers in Rüsselsheim are the first in the world to combine a compound crank with a Watts link in the rear axle. This new construction keeps the advantages in size, weight and overall efficiency of the compound crank rear axle layout design, At the same time, the Watts link supports lateral forces during cornering and makes the car dynamic and agile without compromising on stability and comfort.

this is just a torsion beam, not impressive.

A torsion beam that has watts linkage, to locate the rear suspension, that lessens side to side movement, relative to the chassis. Ordinary rear torsion beam rather have thicker/harder bushing to resists side to side mov't. But that translates to more NVH in the cabin, and is not as effective in locating the rear suspension, versus to that of a watts link.

@@jpogigtxcr1778 watts link may position the beam a little better but it does not do anything about the beam bending. unfortunately watt's link makes this problem even worse.

@@harrismashego8318 watts link is not exactly the option for rugged. You want rugged you go leafs or panhard. Hilux has always been aiming for rugged
