He won the rematch. DJ is an amazing fighter. I wish the documentary threw in a few more of his highlights. Overall tho it is a great documentary. That guy makes very high quality videos.

That documentary actually is kinda bothersome because I think they were trying to do DJ a solid but instead now newbies first introduction to him is that he was “boring” which is really a shame because his fight style is far from boring. I wish they would have highlighted his fight performances instead. Demetrious Johnson is truly poetry in motion. React to an actual video where they aren’t playing the victim angle. These content creators playing the victim angle in their film does such a disservice to DJ’s legacy.

The documentary didn't create that narrative. The narrative was already out there. It's pretty clear the guy making the documentary thinks DJ is great. And you cannot explain why the UFC wanted to get rid of him and erase him from the minds of fans without explaining that specific narrative that was around him at the time. I don't think any new MMA fans can walk away from watching that documentary thinking that they don't like DJ and they don't want to watch DJ. The documentary makes him look really good all around.

Oh wow, so glad to see someone react to this video. DJ is BY FAR my favorite MMA fighter of all time. He is the GOAT, he's insanely humble and kind. Like dude... watch some of his old fights. He's an absolute monster.

When people claim the UFC erased DJ, they leave out the part of him being the lowest selling male champion in the companies history. Nothing against him at all, but the FANS erased him by not showing him love until he was gone. It's like when a rapper passes.

They literally could have used those same resources to make a video highlighting DJ’s greatness but instead chose to play the victim angle and talk about how DJ was boring the whole video. Then they have the nerve to say that the UFC “erased him”. Like no dude, you’re erasing him by making a 15 minute video about him being boring instead of making the focus about his 14x world titles, his world Grand Prix win, etc. Patrick Gavia actually pisses me off for this.

Using that first comment to let you know about Fedor Emilianenko. You have seen him in a couple videos already but you should really check him out. Fedor is my personal goat of the sport, i seriously believe no other fighter would have been able to beat him during his prime. Unfortunately his career went down hill later on but he is still an absolute legend. He also retired last year btw.

ONE championship, they have belts for mma, grappling, kickboxing, and muay thai. On a typical ONE card they will have a few fights of each division so a few mma fights under mma rules, a few kickboxing fights under kickboxing rules ect ect. Definitely check out Rodtang, and check out Buakaw and Saenchai both muay thai legends.

Mighty Mouse beat Moraes in the rematch and the KO was top 5 ever imo. The reason Demetrius lost the first was because he got hit with a grounded knee which is illegal in the UFC and not in One, and though Demetrius knew the rules, he seemed caught off guard. No excuses tho. In the third fight Demetrius beat him mostly in the clinch and it was a pretty boring fight. I think he’ll fight once or twice more before he retires he’s 37 but seemingly in his prime.

About this tendency of "heavier fighters pull in more people into the sport", I was always bewildered by that. Like, I never was this interested in heavy- and light-heavy weights. I was always more into a bit smaller, leaner guys, because there was so much more to see there - fights were generally quicker, you could see moves that, let's say Francis Ngannou wouldn't do and there were much less trouble with conditioning. And it's the same for me with every combat sport. Like, I know it's cool when Jon Jones does his fighting clinic (when he's not acting up under influence or making his fans vouch for him on Twitter) or when Pavlovich knocks somebody out cold, but Barboza's insane kicks, DJ's dynamic grappling or O'malley sniping - that's what I WANT to see.

One championship is a fantastic organization that unlike the UFC, actually pays their fighters. Their mma is pretty weak rn but their Muay Thai/Kickboxing has the best roster on the planet and their grappling has a solid roster too. Their biggest stars r Rodtang, Haggerty, Superlek, Superbon, Tawanchai, Stamp Fairtex, Mikey Musumeci, and Demetrius. A good Muay Thai fight to react to would be Rodtang v Superlek who fought in November I believe it was fight of the year.
